Lourdes water and Angels and harvest and FAMILY

With the golden field of corn and clouds of the setting sun in the background... it was so great to get these 4 together at our gathering for Pat's mom's 95th.  They grew up together - Luke and Stephen in the Cities and a year older, and John and Brad down here on the farm and just 6 weeks apart.  Reminding me of the sets of cousins - this last time all boys - that we have going in our family, with each of our 3 married daughters having boys in this last year!  It was a wonderful occasion for reconnecting and being reminded of the importance of Family in our lives.  The importance of that support in so many ways, but most importantly in prayer, and the love that outpoured on John in his battle 5 years ago against brain cancer.
Ruth brought her adorable kittens and they were a hit with all those gathered... Ruth thought it was funny that more so with the adults!  Some of them are promised to homes.... Ruth's cousin, Clint, is taking one to replace a cat her had for 11 years and recently died.
Mom surrounded by her adoring family on a glorious day on the farm that she and dad bought years ago - close to 70?
This day is the feast of the Archangels... Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael!  It is wonderful to know of their LOVE for God and protection and guidance throughout our lives!  John awoke with a headache, and just as we was about to head out the door I recalled the jug of Lourdes water we have after our two trips to Lourdes with Hallel. We blessed his head and forehead with it, and he left with a smile of appreciation and joyful remembrance of his love for Our Lady of Lourdes and her continued healing of John.  She definitely enters into his journey called brain cancer/healing!
The candy bars from the piƱata the kids had fun hitting and breaking open. It was very special as the grandkids came forward and shared some with their great-grandma... putting them in her lap.  Returning the favor of her having a candy jar and with a hug, kiss, please and thank you... they can have a candy on their way out after visiting her.  I have a feeling that they will end up in the jar...

The warm weather has led to harvesting of the beans...
It's official, Harvest 2014 is underway at our farm!
I haven't gotten out there with my camera yet, but here is one that Paul took as his field was combined first of all at the end of last week.
Mom with 8 of her 10 kids - Don died 20 years ago, and Mel was not able to make it.
So wonderful to come from all over to help her celebrate her day!  We are so blessed to have her so close and so much a part of our lives.  John was very emotional about her coming to mass with us last night. "It is such a witness to see her still slowly coming with us to share the most important part of our lives - Our Faith/The Mass.  We are so lucky to have this special time with her.  I love to share our going to Church and all other big occasions with our grandma Anna!"
Jesus, we thank you for the many facets of LIFE with you.  Most importantly the ways we are drawn ever to the Faith we hold in our hearts, minds and souls!  The knowledge of the Angels that are called to protect and guide this world that is so filled with darkness of sin and death.  The miracle waters of Lourdes and the presence of the Spiritual Mother of Heaven and earth healing that continues to this very day.  The day that John's head was bathed with your miraculous waters!  Thank you for the gift of Family - the arms that surround us and the prayers that heal us as we go down the narrow path of this Journey called Faith/Family/Farm and leading us to your final place of eternal LIFE/LOVE/LIGHT!  Jesus, may we continue to witness Your Angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man!  Jesus, we trust in YOU.  Amen and Hallelujah
The beautiful girl cousins... 3 of our girls are missing.
Bless-bless, Barbara Luke

"In the sight of the angels I will sing your praise, Lord."  Psalm 138 from mass today
Ruth gifted grandma with her colorful farm fresh eggs laid by her chickens, and a squash.  "What do you give a 95 year old?"
So blessed!!!!
Today we celebrate the Feast of the Archangels, and we ask these heavenly warriors for their intercession.

Sts. Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, pray for us!
