A new LIGHT has entered the world surrounded by LOVE! Josephine Frances is precious new LIFE!

Josephine Frances has entered the light of day, but we have been celebrating her life since her arrival in mom's womb!  She was born yesterday at 1:58p so sweet and beautiful in every way! Grandma had fun getting the kids looking nice for the first official family photo.

I shared with Nancy and Bill how much her Godmother, my sister, Mary, who died at age 28 thirty years ago, was present in my prayers yesterday as Nancy labored and gave birth to her precious Josephine.  Why?  Somehow when Mary was young she was given the nickname of Mary Josephine! So I could picture my sister in heaven looking down with a smile and blessing her Goddaughter yesterday.  It all went quite well and Nancy and I were sharing that suffering the caliber of pain involved in childbirth- she used nothing to dull it or take it away either - that once the baby is out and in your arms the relief and JOY is like no other!  With the intercession of Mary the Mother of God, her patron saint, St Joan of Arc, and her Godmother, Mary Josephine, Nancy had a quick and good delivery and just looking at her beautiful glow and smile just hours after giving birth!  Wow!  As they say "a picture is worth a thousand words."
Such a sweet testament to her love for life and as St Paul says in the first reading from Acts 20...It is more blessed to give than to receive.  Nancy said "yes" to being open to life and welcoming her 4th child.  The world would say that she will have less time to do what she wants and lose herself in the care of 4 children.  Yet, there is a miracle in place here in that our LOVE does not diminish and get stretched ever more thin between each new member - it grows larger and stronger and more with each new LIFE!  Nancy wrote a wonderful sharing on her blog just days before she gave birth to Josephine...  http://www.dosmallthingswithlove.com/2016/05/the-most-powerful-moment-of-my-marriage.html  Her message in this is that children and being open to  life does not take away from the relationship or the sacrament of marriage - this is what made her truly fall in love with her husband - to see him weep at the birth of their first child!  The two come together and become one always open to life and then raising each one with selfless love to become lights for the world!

Yes, life will go up a notch in craziness now with a new little one in the house, and it is hard and yes it truly does not allow us to be always looking inward and self indulged.  But isn't that what we are asked to do as Christians?  Aren't we reminded over and over in the Gospel today that we are not of this world?  "Holy Father, keep them in your name that you have given me, so that they may be one just as we are one...I speak this in the world so that they may share our joy completely...  They do not belong to the world any more than I belong to the world.  Consecrate them in the Truth.  Your Word is Truth... I consecrate myself for them, so that they also may be consecrated in truth."  John 17:11-19

I am sure that there are those looking at this picture of Nancy and feeling she has lost her marbles.  No, they are loving their Lord and The Church and forming a domestic Church/family based on the beauty of LIFE and sharing it with LOVE and raising them as LIGHTS as we share our Faith with JOY! The world does not understand how kids can come before romantic get aways or cars and all the stuff that cannot make us happy.  The Truth is that each new life that comes into our families brings us a small slice of heaven with all the laughter and pain and hurts and joys and ups and downs, but if we put God first and look to Jesus and His Bride, The Church, we can persevere and all become the saints we are each called to be!

Jesus, I love you and am so filled with JOY at this new life that has safely come to join our domestic Church/family!  I am truly consecrated to The Truth and The Word/Jesus to guide me with each new day!  May women realize the gift that dwells in their womb and protect all life and cherish all life from conception on!  May the JOY on Nancy and Bill's faces change some hearts this day and open to the Truth of LIFE is to be protected and cherished no matter the cost!  Jesus, we trust in you.  Amen and Hallelujah
Bless-bless, Barbara Luke and family plus newest member Josephine Frances!
