A day with 2 of my girls and my Queen!

"I am holding two babies."  Mary said at mass at the fair yesterday morning.  She was holding her little 3 month old cousin, Josephine, and the 12 week baby she got from the prolife booth.  So precious is all LIFE!
Mass at the fair with our 2 oldest and their families - 9 kids!
lined up on the top bleacher.
In grandpa's big hands.
Mary in the ribbon auction... the fair is now done, and
Some fun on the rides before we headed home for a huge day of canning.
So fun to have a baby in the infant seat in the kitchen again!
Fun doing Kateri braids for Berna!
We had 6 pails of tomatoes!  80 quarts of tomato soup!
Then on to apples - 7 canners and another 80 quarts!
Mary working on the vegetables
We filled this up twice with soup - 40 quarts!
The kids are great helpers and are learning to art of canning the best soup ever!

Mary and Josie getting acquainted...
Ruth is still at the canning and processing of applesauce... a 12 hour day of canning!

A day filled with the knowledge of it being the feast of The Assumption!  The day after Maria's birthday... many years we would go to mass on the vigil of the feast and sing Ave Maria on her birthday!
"precisely because Mary is with God and in God, she is very close to each one of us.  While she lived on this earth she could only be close to a few people.   Being in God, who is actually 'within' all of us, Mary shares in this closeness of God."  Pope Benedict XVI  Our Lady knows our hearts, can hear our prayers, can help us with her motherly kindness.  She is always listening to us and, being Mother of The Son, participates in the power of the Son and his goodness.  We can always entrust the whole of our to this Mother."
Kids and kittens add to the fun by all!
John helped, too!
A great family day - filled with lots of family farm work putting up food for 6 families!  I was able to get to a wonderful mass and then to share Eucharist with Pat's mom.  So wonderful to read the amazing Gospel a couple more times at mass and with Pat's mom!  The words of the rosary found in the Gospel of Luke as well as the words of how the Lord loves and cares for the humble in the Magnificat!  Jesus, with your Queen mother at your side... I love you!  Jesus, we trust in you.  Amen and Hallelujah
Bless-bless, Barbara Luke with Josephine at her first ever canning day on the farm!  I am sure it is the first of many to come.
