We are reminded in the Gospel today as well as the first reading from 2Kings that we are to return to our Lord, on our knees in prayer, and give him the Praise and Thanksgiving he is due! John reminded me of the powerful healing/recognized by all as it is their flesh coming back together and "his flesh became again that of a little child." Most healings we have experienced are hidden/within the body, mind and spirit of a person or child. Leprosy caused huge sores and lesions on faces and hands - places where it is quite visible and therefore they were cast out as unclean. Not only were there lesions, but noses would fall off your face and ears and fingers and toes and arms and legs... imagine the transformation in that person with the healing... so obvious and such a huge transformation to the eyes of all around them!
Although Christ gave the 10 lepers an order to go and present themselves to the priest, and on the way they were healed! The others continued on, which is necessary for them to be deemed "clean" and able to enter the society again. But the one came back "glorifying God in a loud voice; and he fell at the feet of Jesus and thanked him... "Stand up and go; your Faith has saved you." Jesus seemed disappointed that only one foreigner returned... what does this say to us? We need to loudly and without hesitation give Jesus all the thanksgiving and all the credit for the healing that takes place in our lives! The requirements of The Law given us by The Church are what helps us get to heaven, and we look to those dogmas and Truths to help us down the narrow path! Yet, we nee to remind all those we encounter that it is all from Christ and all the Praise/Thanksgiving/Hallelujah is due to him! We can even thank him for those hardships that work at chipping away at our pride and our selfishness and allow us more and more to be Christ's hands and feet!
Just as John feels that with his healing and finding Faith through brain cancer/prayer warriors , he is therefore called to give God all the praise and Thanksgiving and share without ceasing the LOVE/healing/Faith in Jesus and His Bride, the Church he has been given. Patrick is also a shining LIGHT of the power of prayer and healing, and therefore given the mission/ministry to share how Christ continues to dwell in this world and to heal!
