"children walking in the truth" A new appreciation for the military!

Much about the military today on Veteran's Day 2016, and in the midst of the uproar all around us it is good to see the pride and gratitude in our country for those who have served.  Watching a video of families reunited with their soldiers with tears rolling down my face... I was brought back to this moment where I was a mess of emotion 4 years ago.  Joseph returning to his family after the traumatic birth of their 3rd child, Patrick Joseph!
My father served in WWII and heard the call to enter the seminary and become a minister/deacon in the Catholic Church.
I also had two brothers enter the navy as engineers, but to have a daughter now married to a Army Jag Officer and following them from base to base over the last 7 years has been a lesson to me for sure!  To see the passion that Joseph has for our country, and sharing bravely The Truth with many that do not know Christ.  It has been a journey of Trust and discovering a new outlook and a very deep appreciation of his sacrifice and service along with so many others!
Just back from a week spent with Maria and her family on base as well as in NICU in St Louis... I know that they are having good family time today with the time off to celebrate Veteran's day.

I feel quite emotional today after all the events that are going on post election.  I was so impressed by the words of St John in his second letter today.  It seemed to speak just to us, and the sadness and frustration we feel at all those that have been misled  by "the deceivers/those that do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh," and commanding us "to love one another."  This does not mean that we bend our morals and values to callously take human life in abortion or reject the Truth that marriage is to be only between a man and a woman til death do they part!
Joseph now has an armful of 5 little ones!
So heartwarming and how we rejoiced that little Em returned home and was brought into our beloved Church at 5 days old, and 4 of those spent in NICU - now the picture of health!  This picture speaks to me of the many prayers to My Lady, Mary the Mother of God, that went me on my almost 2,000 miles traveled in the last 8 days and while we got our newest granddaughter home from NICU.  She is always hugely and gently in the picture for me!
Just got an update from Maria... not much for Veteran's day on their base, but they will have a lot of good family time as Joe is home.  All are doing well and adjusting to their new baby girl.  "We are doing a chapter book for home school, so we will be doing a lot of reading today."  So good for her little ones - they are truly being raised as "children walking in the truth just as we were commanded by the Father."  This commandment - "let us love one another!"  This love must include ALL LIFE from conception to natural death!
Two not pictured here, but always in my heart - Maria's 2 losses... praying for us from heaven with my 7, and Nancy's Peter in heaven!  As Therese said after her mom lost the second through miscarriage - "When we get to heaven we are going to have to get a big van for all those kids!"  She understands the Sanctity and value of ALL LIFE!
Joseph raised in a military family carried that burning desire to serve forth and is now instilling it in his kids.  We need those that serve to protect our freedom!  Today we have the feast of St Martin of Tours, who also served in the military..."Hitherto I have served you as a soldier.  Allow me now to become a soldier to God."

David was very sweet after talking about the priesthood with Evangeline's Godfather, Fr Samson, he came dressed as a chaplain in the army!
His brother there to protect him as she serves!

Lord, my heart is full this day and I am praying for our country divided and filled with angst after this election.  I pray that a change for the better is possible and that your Truth may reign once again.  That hearts may be changed from stony hearts to those of love and Truth!  May we all be filled with a desire to be forever with you in heaven and always be ready to die to self so that you may live and work within us!.  Jesus, we trust in you.  We take the words of your Gospel to heart this day that we need to always be ready for we know not when.  Amen and Hallelujah
I love reflections!  How we need to reflect on the state of our inner self!  Bless-bless, Barbara Luke

Lord God, Almighty Father,
creator of mankind and author of peace,
as we are ever mindful of the cost paid for the liberty we possess,
we ask you to bless the members of our armed forces.
Give them courage, hope and strength....
May they ever experience your firm support, gentle love and compassionate healing.
Be their power and protector, leading them from darkness to light.
To you be all glory, honor and praise, now and forever.

Amen.
