Little Josephine's first feast day! "Mary protected me before I knew her." St Josephine Bakhita

Evangeline looks like she is ready to celebrate with her little cousin just 5 months older than her on her first ever Feast day!  Today we awoke to the wonderful story of a great Saint Josephine Bakhita.  Both Bill and Nancy learned of this special Saint and agreed that they wanted to name their daughter after her.   Maria shared that Evangeline's feast day will be Saint John Paul II's as he introduced the new Evangelization... So little girlie your feast will be October 22nd, and from henceforth we will celebrate with you then!  You are learning at just 3 months old that the Catholic Church has a feast most every day of your journey as we recall all the wonderful Saints and Our Lady there to guide us and lead us to be forever with Jesus in heaven!

Bathtime yesterday.  So sweet to see her loving life in the bath!

Reading about her today and after horrific circumstances of being kidnapped at 9 and sold over and over and mistreated... she finally was taken in by a group of sisters in Venice, joined the Church and became a Sister!  St Bakhita pray for us that we might leave the wounds of the past behind and realize that it was all to lead us to You!
Fun with little girlies sitting up on grandma's bed this morning...She turns her head and smiles at her big sister, Therese, who always cares for her with so much love!
Patrick always there to give love and attention to her!  She is learning to find her hand one with the other and looks like she is praying.  Maybe in her own way she is... we have heard so often that the little children are closer in their innocent faith than we are.  Today in the Gospel we are reminded that we need to protect our inner selves/keep our inner temple holy.  How?  By reading and allowing in all that is good and filter out the evil influences of the world.
Finding her hands and starting to sit with support with peaceful and angelic sweet smile on her face.  Praying for our loud messy world... workmen are here today putting up the sheetrock in our last bathroom.  The end is hopefully just a week away!
Love!!!

How true is this?  Mary is the best helper for us... her Son, Jesus Christ, loves her so much and listens to her every request.  He so loves us with his life and wants so bring us out of the suffering we experience/the Cross which leads to LIFE/LOVE/LIGHT!

"Loving God, rewarder of the humble, you blessed St. Josephine Bakhita with charity and patience. May her prayers help us, and her example inspire us to carry our cross and to love you always. Pour upon us the spirit of wisdom and love with which you filled St. Josephine Bakhita. By serving you as she did, may we please you by our faith and our actions. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. (Prayer in Honor of St. Josephine Bakhita) "

Happy Feast Day of St. Josephine!

More super cute tummy time this morning!  As Pat reminded me..."most grandmas would be so jealous to have this kind of time with her grandkids."  Yes!  Bless-bless, Barbara Luke
Hair that will hold a bow!  I think Josephine is getting close to this now... I am excited to try a bow or topknot for her!

"Where there is no obedience, there is no virtue; there is neither goodness nor love. And where there is no love, there is no God. Without God, we cannot reach Heaven. These virtues form a ladder; if a step is missing, we fall down."St. Padre Pio

"Not at all!  I have been having a
wonderful time with Him.
He has waited so long for me."

"Our Lord has always been so good to me ...
If I were to stay on my knees for my entire life,
I still would not be able to
express my gratitude sufficiently."
