the new good wine.... changing us into the new life-giving humanity of Christ

Soft "kitty grass' brushes against our legs and feet and hands as we go out to feed and water the chickens this bright sunny morning.  Ruth worked overnight, so I have her Rose and Luke here. Along with trying to sleep she has 6 workmen attempting to finish up her porch this morning and her nursing baby to care for.  She has many balls in the air at the same time, and does it gracefully, too!
The ceiling on the porch marches forward, and the railing, too!
"Why is the tractor here, grandma?"

The Gospel today is the new wine in new wineskins on this feast devoted to The Blessed Virgin Mary.  It was fun to read one of my favorites speak about this today in the meditation;
"We can trust our Lady's love for us too and her knowledge of God.  The woman who says, Do whatever he tells you, is the girl who sang the Magnificat, rejoicing that her Son had come for our joy, and this his first miracle, symbol as it is of Christ's life in us, was not a miracle related to suffering, but one designed to give an increase in joy to people already rejoicing.  That good wine is a symbol of Christ's life in our soul, changing our tepid. colorless human nature to the strong life-giving humanity of Christ, and giving it the power to invigorate others, to warm their hearts and minds, to kindle the life in them with Christ's love..."  Caryll Houselander (1954)
Helpers with the chickens this morning...

It is so true that if we are truly filled with the goodness we are given that we want with every fiber of our beings so share that JOY with all those we encounter...most especially those closest to us in our domestic Church/family.  Those that we see angry and spreading words and works of hurt and arrows in words... spreading negative and life-taking... by their fruits you will know them.  I can be this way and it seems that this happens most easily with those closest to us.  Why? When they are the ones we love the most?  May we ask Our Lady to help us live up to her orders for us to "Do whatever he tells you."
Rose and grandpa sharing some time on the swing this morning.

Lord, with your Blessed Mother at your side, Queen of heaven and earth, may we find the LOVE to share with those around us this day without counting the cost to our selfishness.  May we die to self so that you may live in us and we may become your hands and feet.  Jesus, we trust in you.  Amen and Hallelujah
It looks like we will be having our Sunday farm breakfast on the new finished porch after mass tomorrow morning.  Pat's sisters are here and will probably come out to see the beautiful new porch and share some very precious family time.  This is the important meaning of this wonderful porch... family time in the midst of our busy farm life.  So important!  Bless-bless, Barbara Luke
Almost there...
What a primo porch/family gathering place supreme!
It was super fun to see the railing used for the towels and swim suits after some time on the beach... LOVE!
