Today in the Gospel Jesus is telling us that we need to love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your heavenly Father, for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good... Matthew 5
I have noticed that those the closest to us are sometimes those we treat the worst and have the most intense feelings towards of anger and hatred. How can it be that we treat those the closest to us the worst? Because we let down our guard and show them all of our faults and weaknesses at the same time we criticize their weaknesses and irritations. That is a recipe for disaster and frustration and anger and fighting...
Grandma's flower in water and with a sweet little girl!
Ruth and Nancy just took the boys to the hardware store to get some wood for Nancy to build a sand box up at her home. They took along the boys and the girls are here with me... Mary, Rose and Bernadette.
Dominic is now no longer taking morning naps, so he gets to go with the boys and moms doing DIY stuff... too cute and such good role models for the boys to accomplish projects on their own.
Rose brought along her backpack filled with this and that for the two girls to have fun playing together! This is hugely wonderful as when they were younger they fought over everything and were hugely into "mine!" It is so good to see them maturing and realizing that they truly do love each other and that they can enjoy each other more if they share and play and are kind to each other...
Rose shows Bernadette her owies - "Baby kitty scratch me."
Showing caring and compassion one for another is sweet and precious and a great gift to carry forth into life.
Making a rainbow tower together... the best! John off to help grandpa.
From the first reading in mass today - II Corinthians 8:1-9
test the genuineness of your love by your concern for others. For you know the gracious act of our Lord Jesus Christ, that for your sake he became poor although he was rich, so that by his poverty you might become rich.
The girls are learning that it is no fun to hoard everything as "mine!" It is a lot more fun to share and give to each other without counting the cost. Happiness is found by giving rather than by receiving!
A rainbow tower built by two girls sharing is a work of art!
Jesus, may we continually grow in our ability to give and share and leave selfishness behind. Fighting and crying and anger is not the path to take to true happiness. Holding grudges and feeling that we are right and they are wrong gets us no where but deeply into a dark place. We need to allow the LIGHT of Truth to dwell in our lives and bring to light the hurts and angers from which we need to be healed. May we embrace our Most Cherished Cross and find LIFE/LOVE/LIGHT/Jesus and His Bride, The Church! Jesus, we trust in you. Amen and Hallelujah
Can't get enough of that dimply smile! Bless-bless, Barbara Luke
