"offer no resistance to one who is evil..." Matthew 5

An icon on the wall of my brother Dan's bedroom...reinforcing the words of Christ to us today in the Gospel/Sermon on the Mount.  The infant Jesus looking back at his Mother, who is there to intercede for our needs as well as modeling for us the "radical" call we have as Christians/Catholics!  My mind was totally absorbed at the words of Christ today telling us to "offer no resistance to one who is evil."  With the shocking news that Archbishop Niensted is resigning from his post in the Archdiocese due to his being targeted for allowing predatory priests to hurt children.  My stomach is turning!  How can the beauty and wonder and Truth of our Church be so tarnished and smeared and hurt?  How do these radical words of Christ apply to this situation?

My sweet sister-in-law with her 3 month old granddaughter are a sight of HOPE and LOVE.

Lord Jesus may we all embrace our Most Cherished Cross and follow after you down the narrow path this day.  We hear your words of turning the other cheek this day and know how hard it is.  Give us the strength to fight off our inclinations to protect our self from injury and harm and die to self so that you may live in us.  Jesus, we place your Church in your hands and trust in you.  Amen and Hallelujah
