Home after 3 days in MIchigan after 8 years away/Maggie's feast - St Magdelene today!/Waiting for wind to bale! - +JMJ+

The two teenagers heading out on a big adventure - kayaking across to the Island about a mile away - Summer Island.  13 year old Gus and 16 ( the day before) David were back reporting that they found a campsite and lots of beer cans and were back in an hour.  

We had made the treck to Michigan upper Peninsula after 8 years away.  Each year since we sold our cabin in Manistique both David and Rose would ask me to take them back... finally with the help of Ruth we were there for 3 glorious days!  
Large and enough beds for Ruth, I and the 8 grandkids we brought along.  Tom and grandma sat on the porch and waved at all that passed by... pickups on the road so close to our Airbnb and boats on the water.
This girl... 12 year old Rose has begged me to return to her beloved Michigan.  She is holding a honey comb coral fossil she found in the sand in front of our cabin.  
Not exactly the beach we had hoped for but we had my sister there with a beautiful beach we could spend the day at, and so we did!  
Tommy and Gina are just a month apart... Gina stayed home with her mommy and Tom came with us for his first time in Michigan along with Joy and Josephine experiencing Michigan for the first time.  Next time Gina too!

Today is Maggie's/Magdelene's feast day!  They did a photo shoot in their back yard in Fort Riley,KS!  
With her brother, Hector, who is now 5 and Maggie is 3 - they play a lot together!

Glorious sky, clouds and kite over the inland Sea of Lake Michigan.  How I love it here after growing up spending much of my summers on Lake Michigan! 
8 year old Josephine was wonderful with little Tom.  It was the first time for both of them to experience Michigan!  Squeaky sand as they walked in the soft sand.

It was a great JOY to spend a couple days sharing sandy beach and swimming with my sister, Paula, and her husband, Bill! Their family bought this wonderful shoreline right on the beach of Lake Michigan! Wow!  

.Tom is happy to be back on the farm... bringing grandma some beans that mom just picked.  
Tom and grandpa - "Tom gave me the biggest hug when he saw me after being gone for those days to Michigan!"  How we love to have our young farm family here on the farm!  Thank you, Lord and Lady!

16th Sunday of Ordinary Time - the Disciples return after being sent out two by two, and report all the wonders they have experienced with their Lord Jesus.  "Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while."  How I love this and in the early morning hour daily mass is a way for me to experience this peace and JOY and bask in His LOVE!  
Tom with his grandpa... he is so comfortable and at peace at mass each Sunday - every Sunday since he was born he has come to mass with mom and dad and his 6 siblings.  Usually grandpa and grandma are there along with his Uncle John and family with wife, Bobbi, kids Jude, Birdie and Lucy.  How we love to share our Faith as a Family!  Our greatest JOY!  
How I love this!  Jonathan speaking at the National Conference for the Eucharist.  Daily Mass = the heart of Jesus.  No wonder he brings Jesus so powerfully to us in The Chosen!  
Following the rake driven by Simon and the baler by Pat as they try to bale some of the hay that is down.  There has been no wind for days and now today we had rain... There is not much you can do about mother nature, but pray.
Lord, please allow the farmers to get our hay up.  It is crazy that we have no wind now for 3 days!  The windmills are standing still today.
Rose is at Celebrate Me Camp and I painted her a picture for the letter I sent for her to open.  Each of the last 8 years she has asked me to take her back to Michigan.  Thanks to her mother - we did it!  I am sad that it is over so quickly, but it was a wonderful gift for all of us!  

Beautiful words from dad's man, Brother Victor, whom I read every day.  He wrote this yesterday on the Feast of Mary Magdalene.  So wonderful!  A LOVE story!

Around the grain bins on Hwy 59 where we lived for the first 8 years of our marriage and had all 4 of our girls here.  So many happy memories...
Paul's Birthday on the 21st - 9 years ago with the truck and Paul and Ruth won!  
If you want to receive the Eucharist you need to believe that it is Jesus!  And if you do than how can you leave The Church!

From my dad in morning prayer this morning gives me the greatest JOY!  The scripture he was reading when the Holy Spirit told him to come into The Church 53 years ago.  Truly Eucharistic!  Thanks dad for each day since our family of 13 came into The Catholic Church has been a gift to me - a pearl of great price!  Jesus, we trust in you.  Bless-bless, Barb and the 33

Double shower for the Verlys!/Giving rides on the farm/Nancy and Maria's families with Hallel and ls and lb - +JMJ+

Josephine with her wonderful sundae as the Verlys gathered to shower two that are marrying in the next few months!  
Ida will marry in 2 weeks and Lindsey will marry the day before my birthday in October!  We are so happy for them, and it was a special time of gathering around them in Lakeville at niece, Jennifer's beautiful home!

LOVE to share in the celebrations of great JOY - marriage is a wonderful blessing and needs to have the Lord included to work out.  
The granddaughters made it a special time!  Bernadette was in charge of the games, and then we all had ice cream!  Tomorrow we start our trip to Michigan for 3 days!  
Ed spraying the soy beans on these nice hot summer days.  I have been giving Brad rides in place of his mom, Rita.  
I have been feeling sad and emotional with the sudden loss of Rita!  Poor Brad had to put up with my tears...

First time I have been on Rita's beautiful - REV party patio - Rita Ed Verly party patio... first time since she died a couple months ago.  The tears just flowed to know that she is no longer here with us.  All the love and work she put into her beloved home and still projects that we in the plans for  this summer...
Her raised garden and beautiful yard just brought tears and sadness without her here now.  Some of Ed's sisters came and planted flowers that are now blooming in tribute to how much we miss her!  
Under the kitchen window - every time I would come into the yard to help move someone - she would be standing and waving at the window as she was busy making wonderful food for her beloved Ed.  Brad and I talked about her orange Jello with cream and mandarin oranges - we laughed about how much she loved and made Jello!

We miss you so much Rita!!!  How can this be true that you have left so soon?  
The farm family was away for the week, so I was able to pick the first wonderful beans and zucchini.  So yummy!  
With our leaving tomorrow night we will be picking again - fresh veggies for our trip!  

Ed spraying.  I know that Rita would have been moving them and making them some of her wonderful food made with love.  She was wonderful to her men!  All I could offer was some melting ice cream bars.  
Some good shots while I was waiting to help move Brad.  We had a chance to talk about Michigan trip that we are going on tomorrow.  Brad went along with us numerous times over the years and mentioned some of the memories he has of the sand, water, and rock slabs by our cabin as well as the cabin that we had near Manistique, MI on the Big Lake Michigan.  

Now I will have more time with Ed and Brad to help fill in some of the gaps... nothing can replace Rita!  

One of the days while the farm family was gone we had to check on the cows and calves in 6 pastures.  I do not do well on sheer cliffs with a drop-off on one side.  I am very scared and cling on for dear life.  I am so relieved that the farm family is safely back from their adventure to New Orleans and back!  I was not required to pick up bales alone either due to rain.

Little Brothers caused a stir in Tracy as they hitchhiked from here to Sleepy Eye for a mission there!

A few days later Maria met Joe's parents at an Iowa rest stop to pick up her 3 kids that had been with them for a few weeks.  They also met up with Hallel and the little sisters returning to KCK.
Maria's 7 spent the night with Hallel in the Priest's quarters before they headed for home in Fort Riley, KS.

How we love our family time with our nun and now a military family that is just 2 hours away.  I predict many visits with the two of them!

A memory from 10 years ago of Pat's wonderful mom and Sr Doreen.  Both are gone now!  

Nolan Meyer with his group of Focus Missionaries.   They will be evangelizing at Fresno State in California this next year.  LOVE how these young Catholics ask the Lord to show them his path for them.  Many prayers for them.  
Jesus, we place Nolan in your hands and ask that you use him.  The Gospel today is sending them forth and how we need to rely on you for all that we give to the world around us - 

Gospel Mk 6:7-13

Jesus summoned the Twelve and began to send them out two by two
and gave them authority over unclean spirits. 
He instructed them to take nothing for the journey
but a walking stick—
no food, no sack, no money in their belts. 
They were, however, to wear sandals
but not a second tunic.

leave there and shake the dust off your feet
in testimony against them.” 
So they went off and preached repentance. 
The Twelve drove out many demons,
