Catholic Family life - Catholic Sprouts shares Faith at home/Last day of January - 57 degrees! - +JMJ+

It is Catholic Schools week and yesterday was Careers day - only missing 4 year old George of Nancy's 6 children.  From 6th grade to preschool and Regina Maria is 2.  

Nancy has a ministry that is called The Catholic Sprouts Podcast - Catholic Sprouts .  She has also written numerous books including a recent book on the Saints.  This podcast called Catholic Family life was shared with me today as they include how Nancy's ministry has been important in their homeschool prayer life with their 7 children...

Nancy's youngest, Regina Maria is known as Gina to her loving older siblings - today is a warm spring like day and this was taken on one of our rare snowy days this winter.  It is now 57 degrees and our snow piles are quickly shrinking.  

This happened on Thanksgiving day in Nancy's home in Delano!  All of our family gathered for Bill's famous turkey and we captured all 34 in a picture!  I even had along a picture of our nun, who was unable to come!  I am still pinching myself to see this with my heart, mind and soul!

Nancy's podcast began years ago - she thought that a podcast helping parents share the faith with their children in a few minutes each day would be helpful in sharing the Catholic Faith in our homes.  Today in the Gospel Jesus goes back to his home and they don't accept him!  

And they took offense at him.
Jesus said to them,
“A prophet is not without honor except in his native place
and among his own kin and in his own house.”
So he was not able to perform any mighty deed there,
apart from curing a few sick people by laying his hands on them.

Our group of 3 that are now all 2 years old together - Ruth's Tom, Maria's Magdalene, and Nancy's Regina!  

Yet, our homes are called a Domestic Church, where we are to share our Catholic Faith.  It is wonderful to know that our children are doing this in each of their homes!  That we share our Faith as a united family - United in the Eucharist knowing that we are all attending mass each Sunday and many of them daily!

Hubby farmer Pat with Maria's youngest, Maggie Rose, who is so loving towards her Bumpa.  Her dad, Major Joseph is in the army and stationed in Fort Leavenworth, KS this year!  How we love to have them just a half a day away, and not 2 days like when they lived in Virginia last year and Tacoma, WA the 5 years before that!

Thanks to my husband I am now going to daily mass!  He encouraged me to get more active - so I joined the Y and started water aerobics at 8a each morning.  I then thought that why not get up an hour earlier and go to mass at 7a... so that is what I do, and now with the winter he is joining me until they start calving in the first of March!

Grandpa farmer Pat loves the little ones - his motto since we were dating and attended our Engagement weekend - Open to LIFE and raising lights!  All the other couples wanted to have 0-2 kids because the world is such a mess - Pat's answer to me - "The world needs LIGHTS!"  Yes!!!

Ruth's youngest, 2 year old Tom, is very special to grandma after a year of remodeling the apartment building across from the Church!  Ruth just asked me if he could come every Tuesday morning while she leads a "Quad group."  Yes!!  I love me some Tommy time!  
Mass with hubby - My Most Cherished Cross!  Our Spiritual Mother is given to us at the foot of the Cross, and we bring her into our homes!  
My constant companion as she takes my prayers to her Son!  
Our daughter #4 is a Dominican nun in The Community of the Lamb!  Her name is Little Sister Hallel and that is from the first part of Hallelujah.  "Every time anyone says my name they are giving God all the praise!"  

This is a letter she wrote to her sister, Nancy,  on the occasion of her engagement - so True! 

Nancy, Look I am writing you a letter... aren't you impressed? Well, you better be because both you and I know how often this happens. I am writing to tell you now extremely excited I am about your engagement to Bill. I have to admit, when I got the news I wasn't really shocked but that night as it sunk in during adoration and the next day during mass I was so happy. My heart overflowed with joy for you. How beautiful to know that you have found your... most cherished cross. While I have never had the experience of being married, from what I hear is that he will truly be your cross. But not your cross as human eyes look at it, as a thing to run away from, as a thing of torture but rather as that which is truly the tree of life. It is only when clinging to the cross that one can truly live, it is the source of all life and of all love. Your marriage to Bill will be this, not something to run away from when it gets hard and when it hurts, but something to hold tight to, especially when it hurts because it is in this that you will find life and love. Know that it is through your marriage that Jesus wants to show you his great love for you and also that the best example that you can give to the world of Christ's love is a marriage lived in truth. So, in other words, know that I am so happy for you and that I love you a whole lot. Know that you are in my prayers during this crazy time of wedding planning; that you may not go crazy but rather learn to love each other better and that you may both have great joy and great peace. Yes, I embraced my Most Cherished Cross to find LIFE/LOVE/LIGHT!  Jesus, we trust in you.  Amen and Hallelujah
 


A sweet sharing from dad's man, Brother Victor... love how he underlined Jesus over and over.  I still have my dad here with me each day in prayer... his prayer of The Church after 44 years as a Permanent Deacon after bringing the 13 into The Catholic Church 52 years ago!  And a daily meditations by a sweet monk, Brother Victor!

So much JOY this year having my 2 daughters just half an hour apart in Kansas for the year!  Our nun's Community - Lumen Christi/LIGHT of Christ Monastery in the heart of the poor in Kansas City, Kansas, and her sister, Maria's military family on base in Fort Leavenworth, KS!  LOVE that we can visit them both!  Next weekend we have fake plans to do just that!  Bless-bless, Barbara and the 33 plus many Little Sisters and Little Brothers!

The family wall - my passion!/Chapel on wheels - "Go home to your family and announce what the Lord has done!" - +JMJ+

I am smiling ear to ear with the beautiful updated "school pictures" of our 23 grandkids on the fridge.  Today Maria took her homeschool pictures to update for me.  Nancy's Catholic School pictures came in the mail a couple days ago and I added Regina Maria, and John gave us Jude's but I added Birdie and Lucy.  The farm kids have been there... I added Tom and need to update Simon and get Mary's senior picture!  Each one is a pearl of great price!  
I also have been updating the family wall with recent pictures  - John's taken by our red barn.

The updated picture now on the wall of Nancy's family in Delano at Christmas time.  Gina is growing and changing the most!  
The wall... Ruth's picture was taken this summer and they used a similar one for their Christmas Card.  Tom is changing the most from year to year since he is now in the 2 year old group!  I also used the VCC Christmas shirt picture with all of us including Hallel in picture form at Lake Shetek Lutheran Bible Camp the day before Christmas!  
Love my updated family wall! So much JOY and prayers for each one!  
Praying with hubby and mom and dad!  Our chapel on wheels where we had shared the Rosary and some of Pat's Exodus 90 talks and prayers.  
Pat and I did a crazy thing!  We drove up to visit the cemetery - my parents 4 hours away!  There are some siblings to visit around there and we met up with a couple of the 9 living siblings for a nice visit and supper.  

John's 14th birthday since stem cell transplant and Lucy turned one on the 11th! They match!  

Also shared breakfast on Sunday after mass with John and family - remembering that we are 14 years since John was born again with the stem cells returned to his body after the bomb was dropped and he lost all his immunity.  He was a "rockstar" then, and now he is the new John - husband to Bobbi, and father of 3 miracle children! 

Today in the Gospel that man Jesus cast out Legion of evil spirits out of - wants to follow Jesus wherever he goes -  Jesus tells him to "Go home to your family and announce what the Lord has done!"  This is true for John now that he is a stay at home dad caring for his children after being healed from his cancer!

Standardized testing day on base at Fort Leavenworth, KS today.  Patrick hard at it!  
LOVE this of my brother, Dan and his wife, Angela, when we were able to spend time with them on Saturday.  We traveled 8 hours to spend 4 hours with family and still be our own beds at night and get up for 8a Catholic Schools Mass!  We so love our Catholic Schools!
Rose and Joy doing petitions during the Catholic Schools mass at 8a.  We all went to the School to visit their rooms last evening.  
Pretty and sweet Lucy is so good at mass - she is very familiar with mass as she has been there every Sunday with her family.  Playing with grandma's rosary bracelet that I bring along for the little ones to play/pray.

7 year old Evangaline is in 1st grade
2 1/2 year old Magdalene is the youngest - every time grandpa walks by the fridge he exclaims aloud "Sweet Maggie!"
4 year old Hector is in preschool on base with mom, Maria!  
10 year old Romeo is in 4th grade.
14 year old David is in 9th grade
Soon to be 16 in March is the oldest military child - a Soph in H.S.

Open house at Holy Redeemer School last evening - walking down the same halls that their grandpa Pat walked and also both their parents - John and Bobbi!  Jude and his sister, Birdie take us down to Jude's preschool room to show us his room and work projects.
The cutest - 4 year old Jude with their projects in the hall!  It was so moving to be there with his parents that both were classmates for all 9 years together at Holy Redeemer!  
!st grader - 6 year old Joy showing us her gnome in the hall.  Joy had all her siblings there except for oldest Simon, who is away at Vo Tech in Sioux Falls for the week.  Her sister, Mary, who is a senior this year and her brother, David, who is a freshman - they seemed excited to be back in their stomping grounds at HRS!  
The older siblings were looking for a bloated frog that used to be in the case.  John and Bobbi talked about the time they dissected a worm!  Oh the memories seem to come back if they are super gross!  Jude was very interested in the upstairs and what lies ahead for him in the future!  
Lucy has HRS in her future too!  Rose showed her the octopus and she is just about to take off walking!  how we love our Catholic Schools now into our 4th generation!  Bless-bless, Barbara and the 33 plus many little sisters and little brothers
