The Word- Jesus/Prayers for Mary and plans getting REAL for her Confirmation

Mary a few weeks ago at a Speech meet up in the Cities with mom and dad and her awards.  We are getting excited for Mary's Confirmation on Sunday, and her Godmother/Sponsor, Maria, is flying in on Friday with her youngest daughter, Magdalene.

Pat and I will go and pick them up from the airport, and bring them to Marshall.  And with Nancy and family coming - all my kids will be here for Mary, only missing our nun in Kansas City!  I will have the 4 youngest grandchildren together!

Eating and feeding her bottle goat before school while her Godson/youngest brother, Tom, looks on with admiration.
"I want to be just like you, Mary!"  Tom sure loves all that goes on with the animals and now we have baby goats/kids!

We have Mary to thank for getting us into Goat farming.  She loved goats to much that a few years ago she became a goat farmer raising meat goats.  Her dad and grandpa have taken over for her as college is on the horizon, but she still is very involved.

I got these cool pictures of Mary performing her speech about dinosaurs from the speech Facebook page.  She does so well!  Her Uncle John loves speech so much and has been her coach including this year.  One is humorous and one is creative which she wrote.
A picture that is worth many words and gives us a glimmer of her acting out her speech.

Such a huge day for Mary as she is confirmed in the Catholic Church on Sunday at 3p.  the introduction to the Rite of Confirmation states:

by the sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed.

So powerful and so many prayers for Mary as she receives this Sacrament to aid her on her journey of Faith with Jesus, Mary, the Saints and The Catholic Church!

The farm kids camped out to watch the mother goats about ready to kid...
Even Tom joins the goat watchers!
It is so fun to watch Tom now walking and joining in the fun and LIFE of the farm.

It has begun with twins overnight on Sunday!  Bo and Peep are both females.
How we love to have baby animals on the farm - on the weekend we will have to show Maggie Rose the new sweet baby goats/kids.

Nancy sent this of her 3 boys making snow forts in Delano.  Fun to see 4 year old George joining in with his big brothers.  Soon Hector and Jude will be joining him - our 3 boys in 6 weeks are all going to be 4!
My snow piles after the 15 inches last week!  Up to the top of our swings!
We found our steer under the snow...
Our 2 cats hunkered down -
Cally is a wild cat that I tamed down.  I had almost given up hope as I put them out when we left for our TEC retreat on Friday a week ago and he only reappeared a couple days ago.  I guess this is when those spring kittens are in the making.
LOVE to pray with John and Jesus when our 2 hours of adoration overlap - his the last hour of Sunday and mine the first hour of Monday.   We share our needs and lift them up in prayer with Jesus there.  We always end our prayer with "Hail Holy Queen" and "Jesus, I trust in you."

Salve Regina - Hail Holy Queen - gregorian chant as sung by Hallel and her Dominican Community of the Lamb

The purple vestments of Lent last evening at mass for the First Monday of Lent.

Today the first reading from wonderful Isaiah 55 -

Reading 1 Is 55:10-11

Thus says the LORD:
Just as from the heavens
the rain and snow come down
And do not return there
till they have watered the earth,
making it fertile and fruitful,
Giving seed to the one who sows
and bread to the one who eats,
So shall my word be
that goes forth from my mouth;
It shall not return to me void,
but shall do my will,
achieving the end for which I sent it.

Pat and I are sharing Catechism in a year with Fr Mike Schmitz!  So amazing!  So much here enriched by what we learned about The Creation where The Trinity - Father, Son/Word, and Holy Spirit made all that is good - the world and universe!  How it makes us want to return that LOVE to God and to do His Will - "achieving the end for which I sent it."  May I die to self, Lord, so that your Spirit may dwell within me!

A complete rainbow taken from above.
Look whose smiling for mom and dad and brother and sister!  Lucy will be 6 weeks tomorrow.
A crazy family picture on Easter Sunday 30 years ago in Taylors Falls, MN.  Classic John falling down Easter hat picture.

Jesus, how we love to share The Sacraments of your glorious Church with our domestic Church/family.  We are given so many graces and blessings as The Holy Spirit allows us to hear your voice within us.  Jesus, we trust in you.  Bless-bless. Barbara and the 34

St Michael the Archangel defend us in this battle!
So powerful!  He is so needed in this world where evil is promoted and those that love Jesus and The Church are looked upon with disgust.  How did it ever come to be accepted and promoted that LIFE in the womb can be destroyed up to birth?  I can't even begin to understand!  St JPII and St Mother Teresa and St Gianna are fighting from heaven along beside St Michael!!!  No doubt!
Pope Benedict XVI today - You can't have Jesus without his Cross!!  "Take up your Cross and follow me."  He is God and we must do as he asks of us!  LORD, help me a weak and lowly sinner!

Danielle Rose - the saint that is just me
We are all called to be saints!  Embracing our Most Cherished Cross we find LIFE/LOVE/LIGHT!

1st Sunday of Lent - 40 days in the desert/A Sunday later... - first baby goats (kids) are born

Joy was so excited to show me the baby twin goats born overnight that she ate her brunch after mass in her jacket.  Tom has been visiting the mother goats in the pen in the shop and was surprised to find some new little ones!
"Hi new little baby.  I think I love you!"

We shared mass this morning - the First Sunday of Lent.  The Gospel sets the stage and pace for us to enter this time of prayer, fasting and almsgiving.  I shouldn't say pace as we are not asked to fast for 40 days other than to fast on Ash Wednesday, Fridays and Good Friday, and any other item we want to limit or give up.  Our Lord leads us in facing the temptations of the Devil that come along our journey of Lent and beyond.  The 3 times he tempts him - Jesus uses The Word of God, which he is, to say "NO!"

Giving Joy a kiss on the cheek.  Joy is so excited to be showing in Clover buds this summer at the County Fair for the first time.  "I will show Mary's bottle goat with her.  She will be big and ready to show then."
Only 12 hours old
Grandma just kept taking pictures as they moved this way and that.  I have them pretty well trained.
"Hello, my new friend.  The adventures we will have this spring!"   I envision some goats escaping and following little Tom all around the farm yard.
Rose is well versed in goat chores and takes a very personal interest in all that goes on with them.
Momma goat with her twin kids, Bo and Peep.  The shop is heated to 50 degrees so they are nice and warm laying close to mom in dry bedding.
"There are her 3rd set of kids."  Rose informed us
One actually a bit under mom...
Tom surprised to find some new little ones.
"You weren't here yesterday, were you?"
Hi there!
Mom nursing her twins.  "She is a good mother."

Yes!  My Most Cherished Cross.

Such a good reminder to pray for our priests - they bring us LIFE/Jesus in the Eucharist
Tom sure loves his grandpa Pat.
A game of keep away in the house after we share our brunch.
It was kind of cute this morning at breakfast grandpa asked Joy if Tom was one of her best friends.  "No, he's my brother."  "But can't he be your friend too?"  After Mary and Rose asked if they were her friend as well as sister - she finally realized that yes, they are both sisters and friends!
Tom loves to push the movers cart around the shop - his sisters keep him from running into things like the cars and pickup that are parked in the shop.
One happy kid!  We are surely going to keep an eye on him this spring with all the comings and goings in the farm yard comes spring.
A new game has happened.
Now it is fun in two ways!..
Dad today in the prayer of The Church - the Lord's name!  Pat and I are enriched in our taking part in The Catechism of The Church in a year podcast with Fr Mike Schmitz.  I find that reading the Psalms and saying the Creed are much more powerful.  The Trinity is awesome!!!
Pope Benedict XVI today in his daily meditations left for me by my mother, who went through it for 10 years!  I am on my second now.  He is so deep that there is always something to speak to me.  Today self-denial and the Cross!
The cat on the couch is my unfixed male that has become a semi house cat.  I put them out a week and a half ago while we worked a TEC retreat for 3 1/2 days.  He did not return till today!  I had lost hope and almost brought a kitten home from the farm today.  We got home about noon and there he was!  Pat said;  "I wonder how big his territory is."  Kittens to arrive in April/May.  We all love our farm kittens, but finding homes for all of them is challenging.

Another passing thought about a week ago is the special day it was in so many ways with my talk, time in prayer, and all the things that make up "Rise Day."  I put on the same clothes that I wore last Sunday and all the power and the glory came washing over me.  Church, People of God is my LOVE and my talk as it just comes from such a deep place for me with each day since our family of 13 came into The Catholic Church 51 years ago being the greatest of all gifts!  I love, love, Love with my ALL and with no reservations Jesus, Mary, the Angels and Saints and The Church!  I am overwhelmed by His LOVE/LIFE/LIGHT!  Jesus, we trust in you.  Bless-bless, Barbara and the 34

First Sunday of Lent

"Very few people believe in the devil these days,
which suits the devil very well.
He is always helping to circulate the news of his own death.
The essence of God is existence,
and He defines Himself as:'I am Who am.'
The essence of the devil is the lie,
and he defines himself as:  'I am who am not.'
Satan has very little trouble with those who do not believe in him;
they are already on his side." - Ven Fulton J Sheen, Life of Christ

"What does Jesus Christ do
in the Eucharist?
It is God who, as our Savior, offers Himself
each day for us to His Father's justice.

If you are in difficulties and sorrows,
He will comfort and relieve you.

If you are sick,
He will either cure you or give you strength
to suffer so as to merit Heaven.

If the devil, the world, and the flesh
are making war upon you,
He will give you the weapons with which to fight,
to resist, and to win victory.

If you are poor,
He will enrich you with all sorts of riches
for time and eternity.

Let us open the door
of His sacred and adorable Heart,
and be wrapped about for an instant
by the flames of His love, and we shall see
what a God who loves us can do.
O my God, who shall be able to comprehend?"
St. John Vianney
