St John, the Beloved Disciple, listening to the beating heart of God/The Word made flesh!/Snow storm peace?

I am thinking of son, John, today in a most special way as it is the Feast of St John, the Beloved Disciple and Evangelist!  Oh, Jude, you certainly filled Christmas 2019 - your first Christmas with so much JOY!

There are many Johns that he can celebrate as Feast days in The Church, but this is one special one along with St John the Baptist as well as St John Paul II!  I would say that my love for St JPII was a huge reason that after 9 years of having Luke for my boy's name that it changed with the arrival of our only son after 4 girls and in the midst of 7 losses... "His name is John!" we chimed in with Zechariah and Elizabeth at the birth of their son a few months before the arrival of The Word made flesh!
With my amazing father at our Christmas Camp gathering!  All the members of our family are so blessed by his listening to the Holy Spirit and bringing us all into The Church... me as a convert, but Pat and our kids as cradle Catholics with whom we shared and share our Faith with JOY!

The first reading today from I John 1:1-4
Beloved:
What was from the beginning,
what we have heard,
what we have seen with our eyes,
what we looked upon
and touched with our hands
concerns the Word of life —
for the life was made visible;
we have seen it and testify to it
and proclaim to you the eternal life
that was with the Father and was made visible to us—
what we have seen and heard
we proclaim now to you,
so that you too may have fellowship with us;
for our fellowship is with the Father
and with his Son, Jesus Christ.
We are writing this so that our joy may be complete.

I could leave none of his words of pearls of wisdom out!

This precious memory from 3 years ago in KC!  John saying goodbye to his Goddaughter, Josephine, and her sweet smile for his love for her.  So much has happened since this time.. meeting his former classmate, Bobbi, at mass one morning in May, and dad pointing her out and telling John he should catch up.  Going out for pie - "you went on a date!" her best friend told her.  Then about 5 months later proposing in front of Our Lady. She then shared with John how she had been told by the Holy Spirit 10 years before when they were seniors that she would marry John Verly!  Waiting for him through girl friends, brain cancer - "he won't die because I am marrying him", seminary for a year, and long prayerful waiting and trusting while St Therese sent her roses to remind her that he was to be her husband!  Then marrying on the Feast of Corpus Christi and hearing Fr Craig read John 6 - "unless you eat my body and drink my blood, you will have no life within you!"  And then Jude - honeymoon baby!  Jude went to France with us for Hallel's final vows in the womb along with Nancy's George and Maria's Hector!  We took 21 to France not just 18!  Actually 24 with 2 brothers and a sister in law!

John went from alone and along for Christmas with his sisters in KC - Hallel and Nancy to being a husband and father!  Now a new job!  Thank you, Lord!

"It is a long way from being eager to sit on a throne of power
or to call down fire from heaven to becoming the man who could write:
“The way we came to know love was that He laid down His life for us;
so we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers” (1 John 3:16).
Through John we know how we are to participate as our destiny
in the life of Christ."St Teresa Benedicta (Edith Stein)

How often have we heard that St John had his head resting on the chest of Jesus at the last Supper?  Pondering that today on his feast - and considering that he was listening to His heart beat - the beating heart of God!  He ran to the empty tomb and believed that that heart was resurrected in Jesus and He was rising to the right hand of God, His Father, after He had been the Word made flesh, so that our joy may be complete!
There wonderful family is now one of JOY and gratitude for the coming in the Lord's timing of their finding LOVE/LIGHT/LIFE in their new domestic Church/family!

My Christmas present from Maria and Family--- real hugs soon!  Hector's first Christmas

Jesus, you are the Word LOVE made flesh to show us how to die to self and give our all without counting the cost!  Jesus, we trust in you.  Amen and Hallelujah

Grim was the world and grey last night:
The moon and stars were fled,
The hall was dark without song or light,
The fires were fallen dead.
The wind in the trees was like to the sea,
And over the mountains’ teeth
It whistled bitter-cold and free,
As a sword leapt from its sheath.
The lord of snows upreared his head;
His mantle long and pale
Upon the bitter blast was spread
And hung o’er hill and dale.
The world was blind, the boughs were bent,
All ways and paths were wild:
Then the veil of cloud apart was rent,
And here was born a Child.
The ancient dome of heaven sheer
Was pricked with distant light;
A star came shining white and clear
Alone above the night.
In the dale of dark in that hour of birth
One voice on a sudden sang:
Then all the bells in Heaven and Earth
Together at midnight rang.
Mary sang in this world below:
They heard her song arise
O’er mist and over mountain snow
To the walls of Paradise,
And the tongue of many bells was stirred
in Heaven’s towers to ring
When the voice of mortal maid was heard,
That was mother of Heaven’s King.
Glad is the world and fair this night
With stars about its head,
And the hall is filled with laughter and light,
And fires are burning red.
The bells of Paradise now ring
With bells of Christendom,
And Gloria, Gloria we will sing
That God on earth is come.

From the crib to the cross...Armed with His LOVE and PEACE

Nancy's family by the crib/manger holding our LOVE and our PEACE in the midst of our less than perfect lives.  We had just shared Christmas Vigil/Midnight mass at 9p in Delano in their gloriously beautiful church!

At breakfast the following morning/Christmas morning we all went around the table and shared the gift we wanted to give to baby Jesus for this next year.  We weren't allowed to get away with being more loving or giving but we were asked to dig deep and come to a place of true giving and true sharing and true loving even when we were put out of our way or probably more in ways to die to self so that Jesus could live and work and play and serve and love and give through us!  The kids talked about sharing when asked by their siblings or taking an hour each week to spend with Jesus in adoration, or pause when our buttons are pushed to recall that Jesus asks us to love and forgive and not erupt in anger...  For me... I will sweep out the shop and wash the bathroom monthly or as asked.

We do not stand adoring at the manger at the sweet baby Jesus, we are called to change his swaddling clothes, sooth him when he cries, feed him and tend him when he is sick... a new LIFE is the best, but all the cares they require is a sacrifice of LOVE!  And as Jesus grows and comes to his ministry and finally his final Sacrifice for us... we embrace our Most Cherished Cross and follow him/dying to self and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide and fill us so that we may become his hands and feet!
Legos and Our Lady of Guadalupe doll for Bernadette...
Mass with dad at Nativity was such a blessing to share our 47 th anniversary of our coming into the Church with my dad, who was led by the Holy Spirit as he read Isaiah 55:1-2 at an Ignatian retreat to come into The Catholic Church with his entire family of 13!

Our 94 year old father with my brother, Dan, who sang in the choir... the angels were truly all around us with their most amazing singing!  Joy to the world indeed!
Dad sharing Jesus in Word and Body with my ailing mother!  John 1 - LIGHT of the world in Truth!
Today we go straight to the first martyr - St Stephen reminding us that we are not to just be all sentimental about the newborn baby, but follow Him to the Cross!
“Yesterday we celebrated the birth in time of our eternal King.  Today we

celebrate the triumphant suffering of His soldier.  Yesterday our king, clothed

in the robe of flesh, left His place in the virgin’s womb and graciously visited

the world.  Today His soldier leaves the tabernacle of His body and goes

triumphantly to heaven. … And so the love that brought Christ from heaven to

earth raised Stephen from earth to heaven; shown first in the king, it later

shone forth in His soldier.” St Fulgentius of Ruspe, bishop

4 years ago... the grandkids together!  12 kids and a puppy.
Pat's mother 4 years ago meeting baby Romeo for the first time!  Pat has baby Dominic, who is just 3 months older than his buddy Romeo.  Dom had to bring a picture of Romeo to camp as he was not able to be there otherwise, but in our hearts!
There is a snow storm coming so it looks like we will have to postpone our plans to get to KC... rather straight on to Washington!
Sweet George gives us a lot of snuggles and JOY!
How I am so filled with gratitude for my parents taking us to the Church 47 years ago!  Each day since has been a blessing to me and my domestic Church/family!
Nancy and Bill and their entire family went to see Jesus in Adoration and wish him a Happy Birthday!  He truly is here in our Church/lives/domestic Church/family!  Jesus, we adore you and ask you to come to us with each beat of our hearts and with every breath that we take!  "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus!"  "whoever endures to the end will be saved.”  Matthew 10 from the Gospel today!  May we die to self so that you may live!  Bless-bless, Barb

47 years of JOY! the LIGHT OF LIFE has come into our world! 2019 Christmas is unlike any other

All that I wished for happened this Christmas morning!  I wept sharing the Most Glorious Christmas mass with my wonderful father at The Nativity of the Lord Catholic Church in St Paul while my brother sang to us in their choir!

They granted my heart's desire with a picture with the glorious nativity scene in front of the altar.  So many powerful memories here with the baptism of Therese 11 years ago, and the years that Dan and Angela lived close by along with Maria and Susan's years at St Thomas... I shared with dad that for 3 years of College at St Catherine's I would leave home and commute there from our home by the Basilica.  Dad and I both crossed ourselves as we passed by The Basilica of St Mary, our parish as new Catholics and my dad's first Deaconate position as a permanent deacon about 45 years ago!
Such a familiar wonderful place to me!  I was amazed to find myself here with my dad, who brought us into The Church on this day - Christmas midnight mass at the Cenacle Convent in 1971!  We are 47 years in The Church - all 13 of us as I am the oldest of 11!

Back from mass with my mother, who is under the weather, dad sharing Jesus with her as he had the pix around his neck and had the priest give him the Body of Christ to share with her!  On the wall the Christmas tree that we all made at CCC with our handprints.  "There is a big empty wall and it fills it with our family love for them.  They love it!"  Paula, my sister, reported to us!
Dad reading the Gospel from John 1 -
ohn 1:1-14
1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

1:2 He was in the beginning with God.

1:3 All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being

1:4 in him was life, and the life was the light of all people.

1:5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.

Such words of Truth and Wonder and Glory!!!  Sitting next to my father surrounded by such beauty of Jesus in Word, Body and Blood and the music of Angels to the highest heaven as Heaven came down to earth and brings shining LIGHT into the world of sin and darkness!  The tears flowed as I reflected on how each day in The Church has been the most glorious gift to me!
Sharing Jesus in His Word from John 1 and in His Body!
How my parents love Jesus and share their Faith now for close to 50 years after they listened to The Holy Spirit bring them and their family into The Church!
The scene shortly after we arrived at Nancy's for Christmas!  We knew that we would be sandwiched  between our daughter and her 5 and my parents and that was just what we wanted! To share with FAMILY older and younger!
Joy sharing Midnight mass here in Delano with Nancy's family - Sharing mass with family as we welcome the child of Peace - our humble loving Lord, Jesus Christ!
Stunning beauty all around us and shared with our family is the BEST!

George having his first Christmas along with cousins, Jude and Hector!  Lots of candy and toys!!!  "I think that I love Christmas!"
My Christmas gift from Washington!  We have fake plans to head that way in less than a week with maybe a stop in KC to see our Little Sister Hallel and family of the Lamb.  They are going on fumes now after being up all night with the Vigil!  They don't want to miss a minute of Christmas!
The Bandzuch bunch last night with Jesus in the manger!
My Most Cherished Cross with our Hallel a few weeks back.  We will see her during Christmas season and get a real hug and some glorious family holy time!
Many prayers for my mother to bounce back- having a Christmas in bed, and we only opened up one Christmas present - the others are all waiting under the tree.  It was good to get some hugs and kisses in and sharing Jesus - the LIGHT of our world on this glorious anniversary of our journey in The Church!  So amazing to share mass with the king of our family to whom I owe my total gratitude for listening to the Holy Spirit and saying "yes"with Mary, the Mother of God!
The farm family - Ruth and Paul at CCC!  They are celebrating with Paul's family today!
Precious Jude is having his first Christmas with mom and dad today!  He charmed all at CCC along with cousin, George!  Such wonderful happy healthy boys!

Thank you, Jesus, we are so precious to you that you came into the world as a new helpless LIFE depending on Mary and Joseph to care for you.  May we treat all as those precious gifts to you.  Jesus, we trust in you.  Amen and Hallelujah
The 5 together 2 1/2 years ago - due for another home visit from Hallel this summer and getting the 5 and family together will be my JOY!  Faith/Family/Farm - my JOY!  Pat and I are soon to be on the road like in about 3 days to see our two daughters in KC and Washington!  I guess that we need to come to them now as they are tied down with vows to their Community or 6 kids and husband... we are always wanting to share in their lives... Bless-bless, Barb
