Maggie update - 2 weeks later!/Big family day on the farm with 15 grands!/Big news in the Louwagie family - Deacon Thoft to be Fr Thoft!

Photos of our healing Maggie now 2 weeks from her major surgery reshaping her skull.
Eyes open with only slight redness after 2 weeks of amazing healing!

Still wrinkles her sweet nose when she smiles!
The planter in the rising sun getting loaded with beans - if the rain holds off we should be done on Monday!
Planter with the bulls in the front pasture in a sea of green.
The bulls were super special this morning in the lush green pasture and the bright morning sunlight!

The younger and older Heriford bulls
Close up of an angus with that mouth full of spring grass
Down the hatch it goes... I just was so taken with being this close to these magnificent animals!
Such a big day for our extended family!  Pat's cousin, Dean Louwagie, is grandfather to Tanner Thoft, who at this very moment is being ordained into the priesthood in Sleepy Eye, Mn!  John knows both Tanner and Josh and will try to attend their first masses at Ghent and Minneota!
He looks so much like his grandpa Dean!  Pat's mother, Anna is a Louwagie and her brother, Emil, is Tanners Great-grandfather.
Congratulations to Tanner and Josh and their families on this banner day!  So excited for these two young men's yes to the priesthood!  Thank you, Jesus!
Maggie getting her squashed birthday cake all over her face - 2 weeks later, but who's counting?  She certainly doesn't know the difference!
Cake is super yummy even on 1 year and 2 week birthday, right Maggie Rose?
Lots of frosting makes it super yummy and messy at the same time!

LOVE you, Jesus!  I am off for a big family day on the farm!  Nancy just arrived with her 6 and John with his 2 = 15 running around with 9 kittens, calves, goats, pigs, and chickens not to mention lots of tractors and beans going in the ground!  Keep all safe and healthy and happy, O Lord and Lady!  Bless-bless, Barbara and the 51 - 34 here and 17 in heaven including our parents.  I am sure that Pat's mom is smiling big today for Tanner and his family!

No hospital stays today, O Lord!
"When we are weak is when we need Jesus."  "I want to be weak always because I want Jesus!"

Jesus shares The Truth about childbirth- you forget the pain when you hold that child in your arms!/Gus is 11!

Maria and Nancy meeting their new baby sister, Susan now Little Sister Hallel, for the first time the day she was born - September 18,1985.  The words of Jesus today in John 16:20 make so much sense to me as a woman that gave birth to 5 children with many losses throughout my childbearing years.

Jesus said to his disciples:
“Amen, amen, I say to you, you will weep and mourn,
while the world rejoices;
you will grieve, but your grief will become joy.
When a woman is in labor, she is in anguish because her hour has arrived;
but when she has given birth to a child,
she no longer remembers the pain because of her joy
that a child has been born into the world.
So you also are now in anguish.
But I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice,
and no one will take your joy away from you..."  John 16:20-23

My younger sister, Mary, with her tiny baby girl, Audrey Marie in November of 1984.  Mary died from cancer when Audrey was 20 months old.  She was called away and someday we will understand why.  She longed to be here for her husband and daughter, but the Lord had a different plan for Gerry and Audrey.  My mom introduced Gerry to Cathy, who lost her husband in a drowning accident in the river.  Audrey went from an only child to having 5 siblings!

Yes, there was a lot of suffering from losses of spouses, but now they have formed a wonderful united in love and loss family!  The pain we go through makes the JOY that much more powerful and blessed and rich and meaningful.

In NICU in St Louis with newborn Evangeline Mary, in November of 2016.  Therese first baby sister after 3 brothers!  She didn't breath quite right at birth on base in Fort Leonardwood, so was transported to NICU... grandma drove there and Maria and Therese came with dad when Maria could get out of the hospital.
She was the healthiest baby in NICU, and we got her home in just a few days of jumping through all the hoops.  So much like my Verly girls!  Comparing her to Susan in the first picture makes me smile at the truth that I still have girls like mine in the granddaughters!  LOVE!

Another Verly girl is truly a Verly girl - Birdie Barbara Verly was born here in Marshall on May 9th, 2020 whlie my dad was living here with me for the last 6 months of his life.

It was such an honor for me to have him here and the day he arrived he went on my beloved hospice that I had worked for many years.  It was everything I knew it would be allowing dad to walk peacefully and comfortably into the sunset of his life!  And it was very special for him to have such close time with one of his great-grandchildren from her birth til she was 4 months old!

A Verly girl holding a Verly girl 2 years ago - Rose Again was 8 and she still loves to hold the babies - she has a new brother, Thomas, who was cared for and loved a lot by his big sister, Rose, who just turned 10 on May 1st!  And Birdie is now 2 as of May 9th!
14 month old Jude getting acquainted with his new baby sitser, 2 week old Birdie here 2 years ago!  New LIFE is so amazing and makes our LOVE grow more and more!

Welcome Birdie Barbara with lily of the valley in front of the barn sign 2 years ago.

Yes, childbirth is very painful and can be scary when we know what we are getting into. Yet, our love of LIFE allows to face it once again - open to LIFE and raising LIGHTS is what we are asked to do by our Church in her wisdom!

Jesus, points us to facing the this in our lives in this crazy messed up world -  we "weep and mourn, while the world rejoices"  - The disrepect for LIFE in the womb is unbelievable and cause for great mourning! How can this be celebrated and considered a right to take the life of the innocent and helpless baby in the womb?   So horrific to hear the stories of babies left to die that survive abortion, when there are so many couples that would take that baby and love it and raise it and cherish it!!!

There are 2 top of the list things about this man, my Most Cherished Cross/farmer Patrick Verly that make my heart burn with LOVE, and seeing his huge arms and hard working hands gently cradleing a tiny baby is one of those things.  The other is what he gives me in the ways of LOVE in our marital embrace.  The two are very connected as we are to be open to LIFE with each marital act.

In total love, you make a gift of yourself to another- total self-donation. Faithful love- love that is commited. That commitment guides all other actions. You keep your promises once you have made them, no matter how your feelings may change. Fruitful love- love that is life giving, because it is free, total, and faithful.

Now an open mouth smile - Yes, Tom make America great again! There is such a long ways to go these days.
Now with grandma - I am tickling his belly a bit to get that smile.
Just like you will have to get used to grandpa kissing you and hugging you - you will have to get used to grandma's picture taking - poor boy!
Lilacs are peaking and it is like a small piece of heaven - the crop is going in again today!  Be with the farmers, O Lord!  Jesus, we trust in you.  Amen and Hallelujah

My wise man returned from the field by our house - I kept looking at what looked like body in the field for these last months - now the mystery is solved!
Lllacs to pray for Fr Denny with 7 Sisters today.  Our Lady of Perpetual Help thought they were heavenly!
Walking the way of the Cross with my dad as we used to pray every Tuesday and Friday on the Sorrowful Mysteries - on Jesus carries his Cross - the 4th Sorrowful decade we would have 10 of the Stations on each bead.  Now I walk around the church and stop at the stations for a special prayer and connection to my Deacon dad!  44 years a Permanent Deacon in The Church!

On a cloud of lilacs - the best of springtime!
Venerable Fulton Sheen made me smile today - this reminded me of the "noise" we endured for our family gathering with Hallel and Bemedict almost a month ago!  Yes, when they returned to their life of prayer and contemplation much in the silence of their hearts - they couldn't hear Fr Isaac, and wondered why he was talking so low.  Then they realized that they had adopted the "hectic pace" and "noise" and had to readjust to the quiet!  The adjustment was REAL!
Dad reminding me to "remain" in Jesus, Mary and The Church!  LOVE and miss you, dad!
Dad receiving Jesus from Pat 2 years ago!  One of my greatest JOYS is sharing my Faith with my parents with no reservations and now with my domestic Church/family!  All 34 of us!!!
