May Day - Rose Again is 13 today!/Easter continues with many prayers for our new Pope/"We must obey God rather than men..." - +JMJ+

Out mowing yesterday by the apple trees and was overjoyed to find the apple blossoms opening with the fluorescent green grass as a backdrop. So perfect for May Day today!
Today is our Rose's 13th birthday!  She is famous for hearing her name at Mass on the Easter Vigil when she was about 4!  "I heard my name!  Rose Again!" Grandpa Pat was sharing that even last Sunday when Rose sat next to him they shared glances when they said the Creed - "Rose Again!"

The 3 farm girls all have spring birthdays!  Mary was 19 on the 19th of April, Joy was 8 on March 31st and today Rose is 13... an official teenager!
Pictures from a very special time in KCK with her Aunt Hallel and two cousins, Bernadette and Therese, the day after Thanksgiving when there was a girls retreat put on by the little sisters!
Hiding in the cupboard... Berna
Raking leaves
Mass with Archbishop Naumann.  Such deep journeys these girls are on with the blessing of having a nun for an aunt, and her Community of the Lamb!  Wow!

Such a powerful first reading today from Acts 5 where Peter and the Apostles were commanded to not preach about Jesus and their response - But Peter and the Apostles said in reply,

"We must obey God rather than men.
The God of our ancestors raised Jesus,
though you had him killed by hanging him on a tree.
God exalted him at his right hand as leader and savior
to grant Israel repentance and forgiveness of sins.
We are witnesses of these things,
as is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him."

How I join them in wanting to share the Truth of my faith from the rooftops!  The Holy Spirit brought all 13 in my family into The Catholic Church 54 years ago!!!
another picture for May Day - Tom with popsicle on the porch!
Therese and Evangeline are so much alike!
Another picture for May Day - our youngest grandchild, 2 year old Lucy Marie with some pretty pink flowers her mom planted!

And Magdalene in Fort Riley, KS with some special watercoloring of a Monstrance!  Our greatest JOY is sharing our Faith as a family!
Spring has sprung!  Happy May Day!
Easter continues now with week 2 of Easter!  With Pope Francis dying the day after Easter Sunday on Easter Monday... the eyes of the world are focused on the Catholic Church!  So exciting and so many prayers for the Holy Spirit to reveal the successor of Peter - the new Pope!
Maria and Major Joseph with their 7 in sunny Kansas.  Soon Joe will be leaving for Poland for a year away from the family, and Maria will be moving to Shafer, MN!  Just 4 hours from our home to theirs!
Gus had a great first year on the Delano Swim team!  WAy to go Gus!
Photo shoot of Joy for her First Holy Communion on this Sunday - May 4th!  Perfect for finishing the butterfly for my Easter Tree 2025!!!
It looks like the apple pie filling we canned with the military family last fall is being used lovingly!  Easter Apple crisp!  I guarantee it was delicious!

Therese and Evie 5 years ago... truly so much alike!
Oh my!

Her feast day was on the 28th!  The Prolife Saint - she chose the life of her child over her own.
For the last 3 days I have had wonderful asparagus to eat!  So loving it!
How I love to pray with John as our hours of Adoration overlap!  Sharing our Faith is our greatest JOY and fills us with HOPE!

Lord, we adore you and love you and long to serve you without counting the cost.  May we always obey God rather than men!  Jesus, we trust in you.  Amen and Hallelujah.  Bless-bless, Barbara and the 33 here and 13 in heaven.
Feast Day
St Joseph the Worker
May 1
On May 1, 1955, Pope Pius XII instituted the Feast of St Joseph the Worker -
a day dedicated to the dignity of labor and to honoring workers.

“St. Joseph, who by
the sweat of your brow obtained
the living Bread for your children,
pray for us.”
St. Peter Julian Eymard

"What is said about Joseph can be summarized like this:
accept the mission from God,
let yourself be led by God,
embrace the hardship and danger
in order to save the Savior.
Joseph saves Mary's reputation, the lineage of Jesus, the
integrity of the Child, his rootedness in the land of Israel...
Joseph is also saved from an isolated life, from a life
that would have been perhaps less turbulent, but that would
have lacked the consolation of carrying God in his arms."
- Pope Francis (as Jorge Mario Bergoglio)

"Take courage, all you people of the land,
says the Lord, and work!
For I am with you, says the Lord of hosts."
 Haggai 2:4
