Reading this wonderful insightful filled with Truth article this morning - http://lifeteen.com/blog/gay-catholic-and-doing-fine/ I came across the quote by Rabbi Abraham Heschel - The man who has not suffered, what can he possibly know, any way? It made me smile and marvel at the Truth here! I took a course of Jewish studies at St Kates in the early 70s and found this wise and wonderful man then, so this really takes me back and reminds me too of St Paul's words in 2 Corinthians today too... where he talks about his "thorn in the flesh", and although he begged God to take it away he was told -"My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness." 2 Cor 12:7-10
A special patch of sand beach in front of the cabin is a great JOY for the little ones! There is nothing more heart warming and restful for me than to sit on the beach and paint my humble pictures and either have them join me painting or watch them love my beloved Michigan and forming those deep wonderful memories that I grew up with!
It has been a day of early morning good-byes to my husband and Nancy with her family. Ruth and I then went to mass and the kids played in the park for a while, then lunch, put the cabin in order, and now time to share a bit with my rosary calling out to me... Ruth just left with the older 3 to visit a local lighthouse and I have my peace and quiet with the waves lapping behind me while the younger two are napping. The best!
Rose makes small images with bright colors... it is so interesting to see how they express themselves!
"For when I am weak, then I am strong." St Paul to us today! So true in how we can love the world by dying to self so that The Holy Spirit can direct our lives and that we may be vessels of LOVE most especially to those closest to us in our domestic Church/family.
David struggled to find the right red for his track tractor.
I would highly suggest the blog post written by Steve Gershom which I shared earlier... Wow, he is so right on! "So, yes, it’s hard to be gay and Catholic — it’s hard to be anything and Catholic — because I don’t always get to do what I want. Show me a religion where you always get to do what you want and I’ll show you a pretty shabby, lazy religion. Something not worth living or dying for, or even getting up in the morning for." Steve Gershom
When Father was sharing how powerful the experience of fireworks and patriotic music made him proud of our country... I had a sad feeling inside at the thought of the horrible sinful darkness that fills our culture with death! I love our Church and how it doesn't allow us to go down that wide road.
Our beach is back... we cleared a wonderful sugar sand spot and now can just go down in front of the cabin again!
Jesus, being a Catholic Christian is not easy, but it shows us how we need to be like you - the Lamb that is sacrificed for others that they may find LIFE/LOVE/LIGHT! May we die to self so that you may live more and more and the culture of death may become The Culture of LIGHT/LIFE/LOVE. Like the Gospel last week with the woman with the 12 year hemorrhage and the Official may our Faith bring us healing... unlike today where you were amazed at their lack of faith. Get those on the road home safe and may the work be done quickly and safely and sanely. Jesus, we trust in you. Amen and Hallelujah
Power washed down to the wood for 2 days and then stained for 2... He still had time for family here, and we will sorely miss him! Bless-bless, Barbara Luke
Watermelon on the beach... how much sand goes down with it?
Dominic thinks that watermelon is supposed to be crunchy.
Rose already said that she will miss Bernadette, and David will miss his constant companion, Gus!
