Jonah and the Good Samaritan - so much on this Memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary, too!!!

I received a evening phone call from my nun daughter, Hallel, last night for my birthday.  Pat and I shared with her on speaker phone our concerns and she missed doing the dishes while we chatted.  They were then going down the hill to the grotto to pray in the place of intentions and miracles dedicated by Archbishop Joseph Naumann a year ago now.  We are so blessed to know that our needs as a family are lifted up by our daughter and her Community of the Lamb in KC, and when really big needs arise like John's brain cancer 10 years ago... throughout the Community the world over!
Hallel invited us to come up and take the hand of Jesus and Mary and leave our intentions there at the Grotto.  She held up 2 year old Evangeline to give Mary and kiss of love.  Evie says a rosary each day with her family, and gives her love and needs to Jesus and Mary daily!

Today is the joyful mysteries and we meditate upon the Annunciation first decade and that is Mary's Yes which brought LIGHT/LIFE/LOVE into the world of sin and darkness.

The story of Jonah is the first reading for today, and that is how much of us ignore The Lord's word to us to share without hesitation the Truth to all around us... Quite the powerful story of how we can run from Him, but never escape.  We suffer the consequences of our actions as we turn to sin, rather than go forth down the narrow path after Him carrying/dragging our Most Cherished Cross!
I brought 3 from the farm to share in this time in KC!  Nancy and I have fake plans to go to visit Hallel and The Community over MEA. How Nancy misses her time with Hallel and The Community just half an hour from her former home in Shawnee.  That is probably the hardest part of leaving after their 3 years in KC.

We are looking at a different time there as we will either be able to stay right with them in the monastery or a hotel nearby.  I am excited to get down there with two of my daughters sharing Faith and Family are the best!
The group that gathered with our family of the Lamb!
Therese got to spend some time with her Godmother, Hallel!
Hector with mom and Aunt Little Sister Hallel.  Hallel met all 3 boys when they were in their first months, and now they are all 6 and 7 months and are all crawling and super healthy and cute!
A recent one of Hector on the Feast of  St Therese with his big sister, Therese.  Hector will be 7 months tomorrow!  Who needs pants?
Adorable and happy George will be 8 months in a week.  He is rolling and crawling all over the place, and  boating with no pants on, too!
Yesterday Jude sent me birthday love with pants on and an adorable cap to ward off the Minnesota cold.  He just was 6 months on Sept 26!  He is crawling a lot and was the first of the 3 boys to crawl!

I can see the 3 together if I scroll really fast up and down.  Jude missed George, who was on the farm for the weekend, but he was away up north.  Passing in the night or at some point of the day yesterday when George returned to Delano and Jude to Marshall.  Three happy healthy wonderful boys that are within 6 weeks of each other and how I long to get them all together, but Christmas is not looking hopeful... so sad.
 Joy admiring George..

The day is filling up with needs from my farmer husband, so I will grab the rosary beads out of my purse and they will be my constant companion as I navigate through the day.  Jesus, how I love to ponder your life and death and resurrection with each new day and pray for all those close to me and with needs asking for prayers.  Jesus, we trust in you.  Bless-bless, Barb
A picture of crazy LIFE!
"Jesus gave Himself as spiritual food
and True Presence among us
in the Blessed Sacrament.  In our own century at Fatima,
Mary asked the three children and us to,
'Pray the Rosary every day.'
Here we see two marvelous fonts of grace flowing together.

When we receive Jesus in the Eucharist, we become united with Him.
Adoring His presence exposed on the altar or in the tabernacle we bask
in His warmth. Meditating on the Rosary, we recall Jesus' life, death
and resurrection and the union of His mother in the work of our salvation.

Through the Eucharist and the Rosary,
two hearts are joined in love,
and we, in love, are joined to those two hearts."

St Dominic receiving The Rosary!

More on...the FEAST of Our Lady of the Rosary

To commemorate the victory of the Christian Armada over the Turks on Oct 7, 1571, Pope Pius V introduced the Feast of Our Lady of Victory. Christian Europe had been at risk  of being conquered by the Ottoman Empire (Muslim). The year leading up to the battle had been declared the Year of the Rosary.  At the beginning of that year, each mariner of the Holy League was given a rosary and instructed to pray it daily.  The rosary also served to unite the contentious factions of the Holy League during the year of its formation and proved equally important for getting the Holy League to the battle as winning the battle. When faced with unfavorable wind at the onset of the battle, the men picked up their rosaries and began praying.  Miraculously the winds shifted and served to be a key factor in the ensuing victory.

The Feast's name was changed in 1969 to Our Lady of the Rosary and it is now a mandatory memorial.  It is now attached to and starts Respect For Life Month.

Many complain that the Mass and Rosary are repetitious.  However,  the “repetition” of the Mass and Rosary alike can work a slow but deep transformation of one's heart. One could also point out that repetition is not necessarily a sign of a lack of imagination. It may be sheer exuberant pleasure that makes us repeat an activity.  G. K. Chesterton argued that repetition is a characteristic of the vitality of children.  They like the same stories, the same words, time and time again, not because they are bored and unimaginative but because they delight in life.

Chesterton wrote:
“Because children have abounding vitality, because they are in spirit fierce and free, therefore they want things repeated and unchanged. They always say, “Do it again”; and the grown-up person does it again until he is nearly dead, for grown-up people are not strong enough to exult in monotony. But perhaps God is strong enough to exult in monotony.  It is possible that God says every morning, “Do it again” to the sun; and every evening “Do it again” to the moon. It may not be automatic necessity that makes all daisies alike; it may be that God makes each daisy separately, but has never got tired of making them. It may be that He has the eternal appetite of infancy; for we have sinned and grown old and our Father is younger than we. The repetition in Nature may not be a mere recurrence; it may be a theatrical encore. Heaven may encore the bird who laid an egg."

Pray the Rosary.  Pray the Mass.
Exult in the monotony. Transform your heart.
By word and example bring others close to Jesus
in the Blessed Sacrament and the Rosary!

"Love is expressed with few words,
always the same and always repeated."

My parents move/My birthday with Family sharing our Faith with JOY and food!/picture presents!

Nancy gifted me with pictures... my favorite!

Only missing Simon and Mary... 9 of the 11, who shared a weekend on the farm.  Nancy came home so I had a house full and a big family Sunday dinner celebration of my 68 years old today.  We first shared mass as a family and then breakfast in the Church basement together.
A big change for my parents yesterday... they moved together to The Cities - The Lodge of New Hope!  My siblings pulled together to get their furniture moved in and then they posed for me with Our Lady of Guadalupe!
3 of my 5 kids with 11 of the 18 grandkids made for a wonderful family Sunday dinner on Ruth's beautiful porch in the sunshine!  All I want for a gift is sharing meals with my family!
Grandson, David, lighting the candles before mass - we shared mass together... the most glorious gift for which I am most grateful is sharing our Faith as a family!
George is such a wonderful boy!  He had the taste of his first caramel roll in the church basement to gum.  "What is this wonderful taste, and where has it been all my 7 months of life?"
Josephine thinks that my wonderful gift from my sister, Marty, is so special!  Thank you for this stunning reminder of St Therese and how special her prayers are for us on this journey!
A first night pizza party with my parents!  There were 4 of my siblings with their spouses, some grandkids and a couple great-grands!  They are now close to family and it looks like they will have lots of loving company to check up on them and be more involved in their lives!
My mother's Sunday night routine for the first time in New Hope... shower, and curlers with a makeshift hair dryer she put together.  It is starting to feel like home

My sister took them to mass this morning and then stayed to eat lunch with them.  The Lord's plan is falling into place!
George is such a sweetie, and it was fun to have him here sharing his smiles and happiness!
Joy and happy baby boy, George as we shared a big family supper last night on the farm.
Jo Jo with her Godfather, John, who is also Joy's Godfather!  JoJo and Joy are getting to be best buddies!  They are only missing Evie, who is between them in age.  3 girls to grow up together... we love to watch them grow in love and sharing time together!
I love to share my birthday in pictures!  The kids know what I love to have and use... here is my Washington bunch after mass today!  We might not be together in reality, but we are spiritually united in The Eucharist!  Hector is asleep so peacefully in his big sister's arms!
And here is the youngest grandchild... Jude, who is away for the weekend with mom.  He sent me his love in a very adorable picture which I am enjoying today as a present sent to me with lots of love and cuteness!  The hat is super cute!
Ruth's beautiful porch is so stunning in the daylight or the dark with the lights all around the glistening ceiling...
In the moonlight on the puddles after all the rain we have gotten.  Harvest could be starting tomorrow around here with the wind and sun today!  Lord, protect the farmers!
Football Dave had his Aunt and cousins come to his game yesterday!

So blessed to have Nancy home to add to the celebration!  Prayers for her sister-in-law, who discovered she has cancer last few days!  Praying for Amy!
My fall gifts were so special!  Sweet 11 year old Dave made me the fall God's eye to go with the mums and pumpkin!
 Thank you, Family!
Nancy took these great kids and kitten pictures!  She knows what makes me tic!
 George steals the show!

May I have the faith of a mustard seed, Lord, and share it with all that I encounter, most especially those in my domestic Church/family.  As I go limping into my 68th year may I serve without counting the cost.  Jesus, we trust in you.  Bless-bless, Barb
They always gift me with the silly one... sigh!
Some housewarming planter from Harvey and Raenelle!  Thank you!
 My parents new home!

Yes, I am so thankful to the Lord and my family and friends!
My favorite - picture of LIFE!!!
The sand pile was a hit and the nice sunny weather!
The girls and George and the sand with flowers!  Farmtime/cousin time is the best!

"When you leave this world you can take nothing you have receieved, but only what you have given:..." St Francis

First Friday with Jesus!  Pat and I headed in about 5:45a for his attending This Man is You with John, and I had the hour before mass to pray for Fr Todd with 7 Sisters.

I entered the church to find a dear TEC friend singing to the Holy Spirit alone in the church.  United in prayer is the most special place to be!
Father spoke of the special attention we pay to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus today on First Friday.  Sharing the Sorrowful mysteries before mass, and for Fr Todd and the difficult profession he has as a servant/priest.

A very amazing feast day today!  St Francis is celebrated to the highest heaven by Hallel's Community of the Lamb.  Their spiritual director is Fr Jean Claude and is a Franciscan, and so St Francis is one of their patron saints.  I imagine they are having plenty of chocolate and cola today.  Maybe not meat, but lots of celebrating!

Doesn't this just say it all?
"...What you have given: a heart full, enriched by honest service, love, sacrifice, and courage."

I, of course, am thinking a lot about my parents today, who are leaving their home of 9 years and moving an hour away to New Hope!  I called and my mother sounded resigned and worried, both are understandable.  "It is going to be a huge change."  I assured her that I would be holding them up in prayer for the day and beyond, and have fake plans to come up there in a few days to help them adjust I any ways I can.

I see how my parents are leaving with hearts full of honest service, love, sacrifice, and courage!  Their worldly possessions will be very much minimized and after all they can't take a house full with them to a small apartment in Assisted Living.
 Heaven coming down to earth!

So wonderful to share mass with my husband and son in the dark early hour of the day.  A blessed start to the day ahead.
After mass Father Mark does morning prayer from the prayer of the Church with about 20 people!  Very powerful and special to pray joined to the many priests, religious, and deacons and their wives, like my father and mother, around the world!  How I love to pray the office and do the office of readings when I pray for Fr Todd as I know that he prayed it that day, too, and we are united in prayer!
A stand filled with about 50 prayer books !
So powerful to pray with my Deacon father and mom each morning for the 3 days I am with them for the last 8 weeks!  My heart soars to the highest heights!

These words from St Francis today in the office of Readings;
"O how happy and blessed are those who love the Lord and do as the Lord himself said in the gospel: You shall love the Lord your God with your whole heart and your whole soul; and your neighbor as yourself. Therefore, let us love God and adore him with pure heart and mind. This is his particular desire when he says: True worshippers adore the Father in spirit and truth. For all who adore him must do so in the spirit of truth. Let us also direct to him our praises and prayers saying: Our Father, who art in heaven, since we must always pray and never grow slack."

How I see this and share in this with my parents!  Truly they direct to Jesus and Mary their praises and their prayers!  While I was there this time a sister of one of my son-in-laws was very sick.  We never grew slack in our prayers for her!  I know that they continue and how our family depends and finds hope and courage in those prayers!

Dad's chair will be moved into their new dwelling, and I yearn to continue our prayer there!
Mother reading Emeritus Pope Benedict XVI... we are given so much with each new day in The Church!

I am smiling in my heart about a young man, who was in John's Farmhouse Fraternity and was on fire for The Lord.  "Wouldn't it be amazing if we could go to church every day of the week?"  John and his friend, Brad Lanoue, looked at each other with a smile.."In the Catholic Church there is a place where you can go to mass everyday and meet Jesus in his Body, Blood and Word there every day!"  Yes, the Catholic Church has it all and is The Church!!!  LOVE!
These two led us into The Church 48 years ago!  I can become so emotional and beyond grateful for how the Holy Spirit directed them and they listened and answered with a profound "Yes!"
https://familysoulstory.blogspot.com/p/the-amazing-story-of-13-becoming.html

Every day since has been a blessing to me and I love, love, love The Church and am united with my parents as we together share our Faith with great JOY and Truth!
The relic of Blessed Solanus Casey that was used to pray over John when his cancer grew back through the chemo!  I have a wish to get it to Amy, who is needing healing and our prayers!

Jesus, how we can see you lived out in the life of St Francis, who left worldly possessions behind and followed you into poverty, chastity and obedience!  May we look to your Saints and ask them to assist us as we want to be yours now and forever.  Dying to self so that you may live in us!  Jesus, we trust in you.  Amen and Hallelujah
My dad doing well and leading the way after much prayer to The Lodge in New Hope... so many prayers!
I am so blessed to have them still together!  I love my time spent with them!
Into their 71st year, and with huge changes happening starting today.  Jesus, hold them close to your heart burning with love for them!  Jesus, we trust in you.  Bless-bless, Barb

Happy Feast Day
Saint Francis of Assisi
1181-1226
Feast day: October 4
Patronage: animals, the environment, Italy, merchants, stowaways
Francis was born into the privileged life of a nobleman. Eventually, by the grace of God, the worldly desires no longer satisfied him; he desired a simpler life with his love for poverty, nature, and simplicity. Eventually, he founded the religious order of Franciscans, whose brothers preached the gospel, made poverty holy, and worked hard to bring the word of God to the world that desperately needed it. He is known as the first person to receive the stigmata.

"May the burning and most sweet power of Your love,
O Lord Jesus Christ, I beseech You, absorb my mind that I
may die through love of Your love, Who were graciously
pleased to die through love of my love." - St. Francis

Meditation of St. Francis of Assisi

Let everyone be struck with fear,
the whole world tremble, and the heavens exult
when Christ, the Son of the living God,
is present on the altar in the hands of a priest!

O wonderful loftiness
and stupendous dignity!
O sublime humility!
O humble sublimity!
The Lord of the universe,
God and the Son of God,
so humbles Himself
that He hides Himself
for our salvation
under an ordinary piece of bread!

See the humility of God, brothers,
and pour out your hearts before Him!
Humble yourselves that you may be exalted by Him!
Hold back nothing of yourselves for yourselves,
that He Who gives Himself
 totally to you
may receive you
totally!
