Double shower for the Verlys!/Giving rides on the farm/Nancy and Maria's families with Hallel and ls and lb - +JMJ+

Josephine with her wonderful sundae as the Verlys gathered to shower two that are marrying in the next few months!
Ida will marry in 2 weeks and Lindsey will marry the day before my birthday in October!  We are so happy for them, and it was a special time of gathering around them in Lakeville at niece, Jennifer's beautiful home!
The beautiful dessert spread!
LOVE to share in the celebrations of great JOY - marriage is a wonderful blessing and needs to have the Lord included to work out.
The granddaughters made it a special time!  Bernadette was in charge of the games, and then we all had ice cream!  Tomorrow we start our trip to Michigan for 3 days!
Ed spraying the soy beans on these nice hot summer days.  I have been giving Brad rides in place of his mom, Rita.
I have been feeling sad and emotional with the sudden loss of Rita!  Poor Brad had to put up with my tears...

First time I have been on Rita's beautiful - REV party patio - Rita Ed Verly party patio... first time since she died a couple months ago.  The tears just flowed to know that she is no longer here with us.  All the love and work she put into her beloved home and still projects that we in the plans for  this summer...
Her raised garden and beautiful yard just brought tears and sadness without her here now.  Some of Ed's sisters came and planted flowers that are now blooming in tribute to how much we miss her!
Under the kitchen window - every time I would come into the yard to help move someone - she would be standing and waving at the window as she was busy making wonderful food for her beloved Ed.  Brad and I talked about her orange Jello with cream and mandarin oranges - we laughed about how much she loved and made Jello!
The fire pit not used as it had in the past with Rita here.
We miss you so much Rita!!!  How can this be true that you have left so soon?
The farm family was away for the week, so I was able to pick the first wonderful beans and zucchini.  So yummy!
With our leaving tomorrow night we will be picking again - fresh veggies for our trip!

Ed spraying.  I know that Rita would have been moving them and making them some of her wonderful food made with love.  She was wonderful to her men!  All I could offer was some melting ice cream bars.
Some good shots while I was waiting to help move Brad.  We had a chance to talk about Michigan trip that we are going on tomorrow.  Brad went along with us numerous times over the years and mentioned some of the memories he has of the sand, water, and rock slabs by our cabin as well as the cabin that we had near Manistique, MI on the Big Lake Michigan.

Now I will have more time with Ed and Brad to help fill in some of the gaps... nothing can replace Rita!

One of the days while the farm family was gone we had to check on the cows and calves in 6 pastures.  I do not do well on sheer cliffs with a drop-off on one side.  I am very scared and cling on for dear life.  I am so relieved that the farm family is safely back from their adventure to New Orleans and back!  I was not required to pick up bales alone either due to rain.
Big foot in Missouri
On the bayou...
2 1/2 year old Tom had a big adventure with his entire family!
A crab boil...
St Louis Arch and museum
By the Gulf...  it was hot!  Now to the coolness of the Big Lake Michigan!

Toes in the Gulf...
LOVE how they include everyone on these adventures!
Nancy's family at the beginning of the week with Hallel having a mission up by the Cities!
Little Brothers caused a stir in Tracy as they hitchhiked from here to Sleepy Eye for a mission there!

Their skit about distractions during prayer with the Nancy's family in attendance by the Cities!
A few days later Maria met Joe's parents at an Iowa rest stop to pick up her 3 kids that had been with them for a few weeks.  They also met up with Hallel and the little sisters returning to KCK.
Maria's 7 spent the night with Hallel in the Priest's quarters before they headed for home in Fort Riley, KS.
Mass in the morning with Hallel and the sisters.  LOVE to see Maggie so comfortable with our Community of the Lamb!
Refectory doing dishes
Out to visit the chickens - our brown chickens are tame and Hallel really likes them.
Evie with our farm raised chickens for our little sisters and little brothers.  We have 17 that we have raised for them this year out here in our chicken house.  Soon to KCK to give them wonderful brown eggs each day.
The boys out to check the garden and the chickens
Hallel's napkin holder with Goddaughter,  Therese.
How we love our family time with our nun and now a military family that is just 2 hours away.  I predict many visits with the two of them!
'Before their trip to see how the soybeans grow in a week.
Now getting wet in the rain in the corn field - now it is starting to tassel!
A memory from 10 years ago of Pat's wonderful mom and Sr Doreen.  Both are gone now!

Nolan Meyer with his group of Focus Missionaries.   They will be evangelizing at Fresno State in California this next year.  LOVE how these young Catholics ask the Lord to show them his path for them.  Many prayers for them.
Jesus, we place Nolan in your hands and ask that you use him.  The Gospel today is sending them forth and how we need to rely on you for all that we give to the world around us -

Gospel Mk 6:7-13

Jesus summoned the Twelve and began to send them out two by two
and gave them authority over unclean spirits.
He instructed them to take nothing for the journey
but a walking stick—
no food, no sack, no money in their belts.
They were, however, to wear sandals
but not a second tunic.
He said to them,
“Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave.
Whatever place does not welcome you or listen to you,
leave there and shake the dust off your feet
in testimony against them.”
So they went off and preached repentance.
The Twelve drove out many demons,
and they anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them.

Jesus, we trust in you.  Bless-bless, Barb and the 33

JOY!!!

"I am not my own; I have given myself to Jesus.  He must be my only love. The state of helpless poverty that may befall me if I do not marry does not frighten me.  All I need is a little food and a few pieces of clothing. With the work of my hands I shall always earn what is necessary and what is left over I'll give to my relatives and to the poor.  If I should become sick and unable to work, then I shall be like the Lord on the cross.  He will have mercy on me and help me, I am sure."- St Kateri Tekakwitha

St Kateri Tekakwitha, pray for us!

On that day, says the LORD, She shall call me “My husband,”/Blessed by our nun and Community! - +JMJ+

Mass on Thursday morning the 4th of July with Hallel and 3 little sisters and 3 little brothers here for a couple days on the farm.  It is truly a small world as two friends from the same town in France in two different orders meet after years apart in Marshall, MN.  Aude is from Mary Morning Star sisters in Ghent about 6 miles from Marshall, and Francis Xavier is from Little Brothers of the Lamb now he is dwelling in KCK.

Sr Aude knows our grandson, Jude, very well as his grandparents are very involved with the sisters in Ghent close to thier farm.

Their Jesus overhead and smiles all around.  The first reading today spoke so powerfully to me about the personal beautiful call each one of these young people experienced and answered "Yes." to!

Reading 1 Hos 2:16, 17c-18, 21-22

Thus says the LORD:
I will allure her;
I will lead her into the desert
and speak to her heart.
She shall respond there as in the days of her youth,
when she came up from the land of Egypt.

On that day, says the LORD,
She shall call me “My husband,”
and never again “My baal.”

I will espouse you to me forever:
I will espouse you in right and in justice,
in love and in mercy;
I will espouse you in fidelity,
and you shall know the LORD.

When we have the Community here - we must find them mass every day!  They also have time with their Lord in Adoration morning and evening along with prayer!  Jesus is their spouse and they love him with their all and listen to Him in The Word of God as well as receiving his Body and Blood!
Jude and Sister Aude are good friends.  She will be moving to another location and there is sadness for Jude's family as they have been a part of her life for many years now.

Night prayer with our 2 Marshall families and Our Lady - each night they gather to sing Salve Regina/Hail Holy Queen together...
Salve Regina - Hail Holy Queen by Dominican sisters
Like angels singing to their Queen of heaven and earth!
The Brothers stayed with John and Bobbi and their 3 kids.  "They said that they slept so well in our cool quiet basement.  All I had to do was get them to mass in the morning."  On the 4th Bobbi was home from work, so the whole family came with them to daily mass.  Our new priest, Fr Verhelst, said mass with Francis Xavier.
Reading the Gospel during morning prayer on our beautiful porch.  Pat and I love how our little grandkids and the older ones too can share with them in their prayers and love of Jesus in his Word!
Blind little brother, David, leading the Psalms as they come up on his brail machine.  His disability seems to be something that he can accomplish all that he needs to be an active part of the Little brothers.  He even hitchhikes with them as they use that as a tool of evangelization.
Friday morning mass - little brother Francis Xavier and Fr Denny shared consecration and the Eucharistic Prayer.
So true and it is shared with us and our daughter and her Community of the Lamb!

Welcome - Community of the Lamb
Praying with John overnight with Jesus in the Monstrance - we are blessed with our hours overlapping - John has the last hour of Sunday and I have the first hour of Monday.   We share and pray for our needs.  Yes, we prayed for our Community of the Lamb, which is now in Sleepy Eye for "a mission."  Today they have headed to Crystal by the Cities for another sharing of their Faith and call.

LOVE this!  Ruth with her little Rose 11 years ago.  She was just about 1 and now she is 12.  Rose and her family of 9 left for a weeks' vacation away from the farm. It is just Pat and I here for the next week.  I am praying and hoping that all goes well.

When they arrive back home almost the next day we will be on the road to Michigan after not being back for many years!

Ruth had to send this from the Missouri border - tasseling corn!  Always the farmwife!

The first night on the farm after sharing a meal with 20+... there was a tour of the farm by the 4H kids and their show calves.  Rose's calf was cute and interesting.  Hallel with Birdie Barbara by the hand showed calves and cow-calf pairs years ago.  She always has been partial to cows and even had a border around her bedroom at home with cows and calves.
Gathered around Rose and her calf.
An official cute pose...  Here is that Rose now at 12!
Now with the mother cow... Rose will show both the cow and it's calf with the help of one of her siblings.
Lots of activity for cow and calf.
Now looking at the steer calf project of David, and some curious cows behind.  It was cute to see Hallel protect little Jude from some cows that we getting kind of close.
Hallel with Jude safe behind the fence.  "He is fearless!"  Hallel said.

It is so wonderful to see her on the farm again and having time with her nieces and nephews.  I know that Hallel loves her farm background and is always interested in her dad and what he can share with her about what is happening on the farm.  Mostly rain this year is slowing down the haying.
Little brother Francis Xavier with the goats...
Little Bernadette in the cat room in our cabin on the Inland Sea, Lake Michigan, about 11 years ago!  We sold it and each summer I am so sad to have it no longer for our family!  I was surprised by Ruth that she has gotten us an Airbnb on Lake Michigan in a week!  We are taking a fill 12 passenger van filled with daughters and grandkids!

It will be David's Golden Birthday on the 16th of July he will be 16! David and Rose have asked me so many times over the years about going back to her beloved Michigan!  Those two must be a part of this!  Joy also has asked me to take her for her first time, and already has us water coloring on the beach!  I am so excited!!!

I need to end this for today.  Jesus, we trust in you.  Bless-bless, Barbara and the 33.
Two youngest military kids in Fort Riley, KS!  Maggie is now 3 and Hector is 5
A painting of Italy!
July 3rd was the 38th Anniversary of my sister, Mary's death.  It is also the Feast of St Thomas...
10 years ago in Michigan - Luke was the baby, and what a dreamboat he is!
I say this every time Jesus is lifted up by the priest - Body and Blood!  It helps me focus on the REAL Presence!
It was Tommy's feast day, too!
My sister Mary is forever young!  She would be a 66 year old grandmother today.
St Michael the Archangel defend us in this battle!
Pat helping little brother David, who is blind to get his farm supper for 23...
Ice cream cones for dessert - a tradition since our Michigan days!
Unicorn sparkles!
Family table!
As Simon said at TEC - "I exist!  Therefore I am loved by God!"  So profound and Truth!
Yes!  "My Lord and My God!"
