My husband is a doer and today was to be our sandwich home day to recouperate between some days at my parents 4 hours away, and twice the trip in 7 hours to KC first thing tomorrow morning.
Pat realizes that the weather is going to make us come home early, so suddenly he is pushing to be on the road to KC today! Holding my ground after numerous calls to brow beat me into abruptly changing plans and giving up my sanity day/unpacking and repacking day/reading Christmas cards including one from The Community of the Lamb, which sent my heart soaring with JOY, taking a bath day, do the laundry day, make Belgian cookie dough day, blog a bit day...most importantly get to confession and mass day, and probably a Sunday afternoon nap day after arriving home from his sisters are close to 2am! The thought of jumping into the pickup without all of these done for peace of mind and sanity... NO thank you, honey!
We balance each other... more like grind off the rough edges one from the other.
On the trip home we realized that before mass at the college is reconciliation offered and had plans to get our confession done and then share mass. Trying to find mass and reconciliation on the road just was more stress than I wanted or needed. "Never a dull moment" describes my marriage, and sometimes, like 6 weeks after a total knee replacement, I say, "no, sorry honey, that is too much!"
I am filled with great depth and beauty by the Gospel today of the Visitation from Luke 1 combined with a meditation by Bishop Barron about the 4th Sunday of Advent today as well as a wonderful Christmas newsletter from the Little Sisters of the Lamb.
I wish I could share it all but I will try to encapsulate the pearl or diamond that was gifted to me through all of their combined wisdom. These beautiful words from Archbishop Naumann in his homily at the dedication of the Little Brothers Twin Monastery;
This same God, who chose to dwell in the womb of the Virgin Mary, promises to dwell in this monastery, in the tabernacle of its chapel. The same Jesus whose flesh was knitted together in the womb of Mary will now abide with us in this Holy Space. Our Lord has chosen through human agents... to make himself manifest in a special way to this corner of Kansas through their twin monasteries.
I am very excited to see our two daughters and share with their families as Mary's Yes brings LIFE into the world! Jesus, we trust in you and join with Elizabeth this day in proclaiming!!!

The "grotto of miracles"... The Blessed Mother is waiting for all her children in this little grotto: the Bind, the lame, the meek and humble, and the broken-hearted. There you will receive the anointing of a heavenly Consolation. "The seeds weakness is its strength, its breaking open is its power."
