Inner Temple - Jesus is talking about his Body/"I think I will start coming to mass with you - we are beginning our winter mode."

 

Tom here with his kitty friend and playing so sweetly with his blue bouncy ball today.  Up in the early morning to go to mass with hubby today.  Yesterday he had surprised me by offering to go to mass with me now that things have slowed down to the "winter mode."

He would bat it back and forth and crawl after it!  

Although it is the winter mode - they still had a final job to do today that needed the 3 farmers, Ruth, Paul and Pat, so grandma had the joy of getting her sweet little Tom-Tom. 

Mom and dad and grandpa were sorting the steers and the heifers in different sides of the monoslope barn, and choosing those heifers that can have many years calving out our calves each year.  Some cows have had 14 or so calves and have a much longer life than those that are fed out for beef as we feed the world.

Tom and Felix enjoy some snuggle time on grandpa's Twins blanket that the girls made for him years ago.

Ruth showed me a 150 year history of First Lutheran Church she has with the Parsonage pictured and the pastor it was built for.  "It only cost $3,500 to build almost 90 years ago."  

‘Perfect location’ for short-term rental lodging | News, Sports, Jobs - Marshall Independent  The great aritcle from the front page yesterday!  Ruth told me that they have it rented for Christmas and New Years!  "Nancy asked about using it for VCC, which is between the two and is still open, but we will see."

I can so picture Ruth decorating it to the 9s for Christmas!  How she loves to decorate for the different holidays!  Don't worry I will share lots of pictures here!  

Tom joins in pointing to the first pastor, whom we have to thank for our Parsonage.  The Church on this other page is the church on the corner that was then sold to Rehkamps for their funeral home.

I am very happy to share mass each morning with my hubby.  This is something that I have hoped would happen for these two old folks as his parents would attend daily mass after dad retired and they moved to town.  

It all happened when Pat encouraged me to get more active and so I joined the Y and started swim aerobics at 8a each day.   And it just made sense to go to mass first to really start my day with the BEST!

Fr Denny today spoke powerfully about how on this Feast of the "oldest church in the world" and The Lateran is the cathedral of the Pope, and as such ranks as the "mother and head of all the churches in the world."  It was dedicated in 324!  

In his homily Fr Denny pointed out that Jesus was speaking about his temple - The Body in the Gospel when he chases out the money changers...Jesus answered and said to them,
“Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up.”  John 2

He then reminded us that Jesus dwells richly in our inner temples when we receive him in The Eucharist.

Big smiles and happy boy for his old grandma!  

Now with Felix, who makes him squeal with delight!  

The prayers during mass today spoke so much about how The Church is our symbol of heaven awaiting us!

Prayer after Communion

O God, who chose to foreshadow for us the heavenly Jerusalem through the signs of your Church on earth, grant we pray that, by our partaking of this Sacrament, we may be made the temple of your grace and may enter the dwelling place of your glory.  Through Christ Our Lord.  Amen

Tom and grandma off to deliver Meals on Wheels in Balaton.  

Talk about a Saint that loved Jesus so deeply in her inner temple!  St Elizabeth of the Trinity!  Dad said that she talked my language - LIFE/LOVE/LIGHT! 

6 years ago - Nancy's 2 oldest girls in fancy dresses from crazy grandma.  They have added another sister - Nancy's 6th child, Regina Maria/Queen Mary.  They have 3 brothers too!

More to pray about.

"My Lord, and My God!"  St Thomas to Jesus and I repeat these words when his Body and Blood are lifted up by the priest to help me "see with eyes of Faith.'

My two companions give me alot of comfort and joy!  

Pat and I visited this Church when we went to Rome when Maria was studying there for a year with Catholic Studies from St Thomas.  St JPII was still Pope, and we attended a few of his masses!  

These words from the preface to the Eucharistic prayer today grabbed me powerfully!

For in your benevolence you are pleased to dwell in this house of prayer in order to perfect us as the temple of the Holy Spirit, supported by the perpetual help of your grace and resplendent with the glory of a life acceptable to you.

Year by year you sanctify the Church, the Bride of Christ, foreshadowed in visible buildings, so that, rejoicing as the mother of countless children, she may be given her place in your heavenly glory.

Tom and I visiting my friend, Marie, in Balaton.  She had the paper with Ruth and Paul's article there, and I could tell her that they were Tom's parents!  "Who does is look like?"  she said looking at their picture on the front page.  Too cute!  

More powerful truthful words from Pope Benedict XVI today about our wonderful True Church!  "God became man to be a bridge between man and God."  Yes!  

Brother Victor left behind by my father speaks so sweetly about cleaning out the garden as winter is close by and then St Elizabeth of the Trinity, who is from France as is Brother Victor and is the foundation of our Hallel's Community of the Lamb!  

Her final words - "I am going to the LIGHT, to LOVE, to LIFE."  Yes, she definitely does speak my language!  I need to read more from her.  Jesus, we trust in you.  Bless-bless, Barbara and the 54 - 34 with us and 20 in heaven.
