Dad's namesake - my companion/St Francis -"the Lord gave me the Cross to read"/" from my mother’s womb had set me apart..."

Tom in the lift chair my dad left behind and the picture we used for his funeral.  Thomas Robert is named after his great-grandfather, who lived here on the farm for the last 6 months of his life in our "farm monastery."  He died in October 2020, and Tom was born November a year later.  It was a very special gesture to me to have him named after my wonderful father!

Tom's Catholic heritage is from his Belgian side generations back - Pat's mom and dad.  From my side, my father and mother brought all 13 of us into The Church 50 years ago!  My husband's prayers for a Catholic wife I give much credit to this miraculous occurance!  What an amazing gift each new day, and the entire basis upon which our domestic Church/family is based - upon the Rock/Jesus Christ and His Bride, The Catholic Church!

Family Soul Story - Choose Life!: The amazing story of the 13 becoming Catholic!

In the kitchen making a desert for a neighbor, who lost her husband to a farm accident yesterday, and my little helper 10 month old Tom interested in what grandma is doing.
Grandma in her prayer corner and Tom joins me with such a sweet smile for his old grandma.   The prayers of children...
Busy checking out the cupboard in the bathroom while grandma is praying.
On my, he found the full length mirror behind the bedroom door to entertain himself with.
Reflecting on discovering so many new things all around him!  Such a happy and sweet boy for his old grandma.
"Grandma was reading this book... it must be really good!" "It is Tom!  It is Brother Victor, and your great-grandpa read his daily sharings."
How I Pray that you always love The Church and are blessed with all the many blessings that come with each new day in The Catholic Church!  So much to learn and grow closer to Jesus!

Today is the Feast of wonderful St Francis of Assisi!  I especially liked the words Brother Victor shared - a quote of St Francis ...

"The Lord touched my heart, and gave me the Cross to read."  Not only did he have the stigmata to share with the Lord, but he lived the Gospel and hence shared in the suffering of Christ and "read the Cross" - "take up your Cross and follow me."  Jesus to Francis and to us!
Brother Victor today... dad underlined to show me the way!
PEACE!  How we need that in our world!
I took along our family picture from our 44th wedding anniversary with the 34 as it is a special day for our granddaughter 6 year old Josephine Francis!  There were flowers there for a funeral this morning, so...
Mary the mother of God today with our family and a sweet rose.
Happy Feast day , JoJo Francis!
The Saints are such a gift to us as we look to them as role models on this journey down the narrow path.

Pat keeps saying that he thinks Tom will always have blond hair.  Then he would really be looking like his great grandfather, too.
Such a great gift is this sweet boy to our family!  The gift of new LIFE and healing for many.  And to carry on my father's name is such a blessing to me!  Thank you!
I will make sure that you know about this great namesake of yours Thomas Robert!  He was a man of God, who listened to the Holy Spirit guide him in very important ways in his life and that of his family!

The first reading today from Galatians 1 really speaks to me of the special ways I have been touched personally by Jesus and "set apart" in such a real and powerful way!

"But when he, who from my mother’s womb had set me apart
and called me through his grace,
was pleased to reveal his Son to me..."  Galatians 1

So many times in my life - I have felt that the Lord has touched me and led me to Church, husband, and the family for me.  Pat and I thought we would have 12 children - not knowing that we would have 5 here and 7  in heaven.  The Lord's ways are mysterious!

Family Soul Story - Choose Life!: Our marriage stories - "The world needs LIGHTS!"

Words from mom's Pope Benedict XVI that she had folded in her daily book of meditations - so True!  It seems that our beloved Church is under attack, and mom and dad especially had to stand up for The Catholic Church with those close to them telling them to "get out of the pew.  Jesus isn't there."  No!  The Lord and Lady do not abandon their Church!
Today's meditation concerning St Francis - Flowers and JOY!
Learning about the world around him.  Currently he is taking a nice nap in the bedroom and not in mischief.
Stopped by the house to see the wall of subway tile finished - "the plumber is coming tomorrow to put the farm sink in, and then we can start getting the cupboards in, and see it come together."
Struggling to get the electrician to come.  Hard to be patient with all the different jobs that are depending one on the other.
Ruth has a vision for making something nice out of a basic mess!
Lord and Lady bless our family!  Be especially with the farmers and keep them safe.  Jesus, we trust in you.  Amen and Hallelujah
Sharing our Faith as a family is our greatest gift and JOY!  Bless-bless, Barbara and the 54 - 34 with us and 20 in heaven keeping our eyes focused on joining our loved ones someday!

October memories and fake plans/The Good Samaritan Gospel

Joy 2 years ago on my mother-in-law's birthday - 101 in heaven.  Yesterday we recalled that it would have been her 103rd!  WE love you mom.

October 2020 - the final month that my dad was alive and living with me here on the farm.  I had no idea that he only had 3 more weeks to live.  He was sharp to the end, and we prayed together the day before he peacefully passed in the morning of October 23rd while Pat and I prayed with him.  A perfect natural death at 95 years.

Ruth visiting my dad on this day 2 years ago.  Dad lived here to witness an entire growing season on the farm!  His prophecy that he would come and live with me came to be when mom died in a day after falling and breaking her hip first thing in the morning.  Thanks to Covid - dad had no where to go after a procedure.  I was so blessed to share in his religious life of prayer morning and evening and rosary and chaplet on my porch each day at 3p.

John bringing Eucharist to my dad.  My dad brought all 13 of our family into The Church 50 years ago!  A story that I never get tired of sharing and my greatest JOY!

Family Soul Story - Choose Life!: The amazing story of the 13 becoming Catholic!

Dad took a trip around to see our farmers in action 2 years ago.  He was very impressed to see 12 year old David raking the corn stalks ahead of his dad in the baler.  So many prayers for safety at this crazy time of year!  Lord and Lady hear our prayers.  I had a near miss as I was getting on the highway this morning as a car came out of a blind spot!  My guardian angel came immediately to mind and I thanked her!  Now I am placing each of our farmer's guardian angels to be on guard to protect them from harm!
100 quarts of apple pie filling 2 years ago today - on Saturday we did 72 quarts with many more on the tree.  The problem is that we are out of quart jars - but maybe freeze!?
Birdie with apples 2 years ago.  Dad got to watch her grow from birth to 5 months while he lived with me.
Should be done with beans today and then start putting the corn in the grain bins.

Dad's handwriting with great amazing Quotes from St Therese!  LOVE to follow his lead as he teaches me from his prayer book left behind for me!
John gave me this special prayer to St Barbara - it will go with me to Kansas City this weekend with Hallel and the Little Sisters and Little Brothers.  Unexpected weekend with my nun is very exciting  - a retreat for her old mom, who considered being a nun - rather called to marriage with the gift of being a nun for weekends from time to time. Thank you, Lord and Lady!
Special sunrise with fall bouquet of soy beans and corn along with my 44th wedding anniversary bouquet now dried made by Paul and Mary!
The Cottonwood tree is starting to turn golden too!
Also John's gift - a heart shaped paver with the names of ALL my children here and in heaven = 12!
5 here and 7 in heaven.  Also 6 grandchildren to meet someday - they keep our eyes on heaven as we stagger down the narrow path dragging our Most Cherished Cross!  Jesus, we trust in you.  Amen and Hallelujah
Family Soul Story - Choose Life!: Our marriage stories - "The world needs LIGHTS!"
John's parting words after we prayed together in the middle of the night.  "Imagine how things might have turned out if you did not love the rosary the way that you do!"

John is now 13 years cancer free with wife and children!
His Spirit Juice video tells it all!!! And the story continues...  Bless-bless, Barbara and 34

John's growing family - wife, Bobbi, with Birdie and Jude!  I am off to work in the Birthright office tonight.  LIFE is to protected and cherished from conception to natural death!

Family canning - mass on the 27th Sunday, and the kids, too! - a call to Hallel in KC, and great news from Major Joseph- our family coming together!

Tom with his two new top teeth and time with grandma.  Such a JOY!
Joy with a new cat on the farm
Tom with 2 of our pails of apples fresh off the tree.  they became 72 quarts of apple pie filling with the help of many hands.
The 3 girls working and it was Joy's first time using a corer pealer  as we had no apples last year and missed canning apples of any kind.
Simon with the last apple - he was a machine of putting the apples through!  Thanks Simon!
Simon leading the singing at mass this morning - he was so good!  Rose was serving for the first time with her older brother, David.
How we love to share mass as a family
Tom and Joy with his grandpa after mass.
Breakfast at our house for the 15 after mass, and the little ones love to run around the circle.

praying over our family brunch after sharing mass as a family.
Remembering that today is Pat's wonderful mother's 103 birthday in heaven.  We love and miss you grandma Ann!

We called our nun in Kansas City with fake plans of their coming "on mission" to Minnesota in mid November.  So excited that they might spend a day or two on the farm!  How we love our fake plans - even some possible plans for me to come down this next weekend with parents of another Little Sister from Minnesota.  Leaving it in the Lord's hands and trusting.

We had such wonderful news from our military family - Major Joseph, Maria and their 7 children will be moving to Leavenworth, KS at the end of his year at University of Virginia.  It is only 40 minutes from where the Little Sisters and Brothers are in the midst of Kansas City, Kansas!  We are all to excited at the possibilities of more family times and the sharing with Our Community of the Lamb!  Now praying that our nun can be there for the next year, too!  More family time is our JOY!
From our apple pie filling I made two pans to Apple Kuechen for our breakfast - how it is loved by all the workers from yesterday!
Why we do the work!

Rose teaching the little ones about receiving Jesus in His Body and Blood - "Come up and bow, and when the priest says; 'Blood of Christ' you say 'Amen.' "

Birdie's turn to take the cup...
"Blood of Christ"  "Amen"
Joy singing the Bible to Jude.

I need to end this for today.  I have been listening to The Fiddler on the Roof in the next room.  Such a wonderful movie!  Jesus, we trust in you.  Bless-bless, Barbara and 54 - 34 with us and 20 in heaven.

Joy is learning our family work too!
72 quarts of family work to make good food
The 5 older kids helped dad and grandpa vaccinate the calves after our job in the house.
October is a special month!
