A vision of JOY!

So John called me at the end of last week at about 4p in the afternoon..."Mom, today at 7p I am going to wear my collar, surplice and cassock for the first time.  We are going to have a Eucharistic procession down the street from the seminary to kick off a weekend of prayer - St Charles Boromeo weekend."  How I longed to be there to capture the sight!  I even called a nephew, who lives just a mile away on Cretin Ave and has a wonderful camera... but. alas, he had to be at work at 7p.  I gave up on it, and thought to myself that I needed to try to make a watercolor of it, so that I could "see" the wondrous sight!  Last evening I just googled some pictures of seminarians and found great many to look at for my painting.  Well, on the way home from mass and Adoration this morning - I laughed with glee at the idea of putting John's cute bald head on top of one of the pictures I had found!  Perfect!  What a gift the Lord gave me to see John arrayed in the splendor a worship and adoration befitting someone who is having the experiences of FAITH that he is having!  All the family here is pretty impressed with the outcome, and John called to fill me in on an ongoing trip to the clinic on campus for an ear infection... He asked me if I had taken my "crazy pill" yet, when I told him that I was in the process of making a picture of him in his priestly duds.  "Yes, I just went to mass and Adoration!"  He also told me that he will pack them to bring to Kansas City in case the little Sisters or Hallel wants him to assist at mass.  "But I will only wear them if Hallel asks me, and it will be locked otherwise so that I don't wake up in the morning all dressed in my collar and all!"  I think he knows to what lengths his mom will go!

It has been a wonderful morning here with word from Nancy that she is getting closer to welcoming her daughter with some contractions last night.  Ruth, Paul and the two youngest are here for preg checking of the cows today.  I have little Rose for some 6 month pictures before she laid down for her morning nap.  My favorite thing to do!  Speaking to John about my silliness today that is giving me utmost JOY after the wonderful gift of Christ at His Feast of Heaven and Earth!  The reminder that we will all be together with Hallel soon!  I continue to pray that all 19 of us will be there together!  So many blessings, Dear Lord!  I know that your LOVE is ridiculous!  You leave the 99 and go serching for the one lost sheep!  I love that you are relentless in finding me when I am off track or caught in the thorns of life or the wolf is breathing down my neck... You are there to SAVE ME!

More seminarian pictures that I found... Love those cassocks!  Jesus, there is so much that fills us with wonder and joy!  Thank you for the little things and for being little and needing YOU!  Jesus, we are humbled by your relentless LOVE for us, and forgiveness of our sinfulness.  Thank you for the silliness that makes us smile, and be small in the eyes of those that are in our domestic Church/family.  Thank you for your little gifts that spoil me as I carry forth my Most Cherished Cross and follow you down the narrow Path.  Your Church is always there to give me HOPE and JOY and PEACE in YOU!  Jesus, we trust in you.  Amen and Halleluia

Bless-bless, Barb
"All you who are thirsty, come to the water!  You who have no money, come, receive grain and eat; Come without paying and without cost, drink wine and milk!"
Isaiah 55:1
Such a joy to see this in morning prayer this morning!  The verse my dad was reading when the Lord told him to leave the Protestant ministry and join the Catholic Church with all 12 in his family - 41 glorious years!  Thank you, Lord, you give this all to me Free of charge.  I in return give you my ALL!  Can you find John in the picture above?
