It brings tears to my eyes to see them sharing family times together! How I prayed and hoped that our 2 girls and their families would share times together both spiritual and family!
The day before to truly begin this Vocations week in a special way - there was a "kids' retreat" put on at the Monastery. Maria's little ones attended as participants, and her older ones helped put it on! Nothing more wonderful to begin Vocations week rubbing elbows with those joyful beautiful Little Sisters and Little Brothers! We are so blessed having their example of saying "Yes!" to the Lord in our lives! An amazing tree on base in Fort Leavenworth, KS. It looks like they are playing army with weapons and a big branch from the tree. The short sleeves as it was in the mid 60s there in the armpit of our country.
Like a painting!
Definitely looks like a fort in the woods! Such a fun time for the kids playing with nuns!
Maria said that it was a pillow ballon battle.
2 1/2 year old Maggie - is so excited to see her Bumpa tomorrow! Yes, Pat, I, John, and 3 grandkids and 8 chickens are on the road about noon to head down to see both of our daughters! We will go to Maria's on base in Fort Leavenworth, drop off the kids and John, and then be over to Hallel in the heart of KCK for Open Table at 11:30p on Saturday. That will kick off our "parents' weekend" with other parents of Little Sisters or those that are considering a call.
Hallel asked us to bring the meal for 40 at Open Table - she requested BBQ with the trimmings including chips. I am also making cabbage ramen salad, and pies from our homemade pie filling- I think it will take about 6 to each have a slice.
Dorotha and Marie John hanging out with the kids on the floor. Marie John is now in charge here. She goes back when John and I first went to France for Hallel taking her habit and changing her name in the middle of his brain cancer - He had just had his second chemo and got better! We can go to France and 24 hours later we were on the plane! Amazing!
Family Soul Story - Choose Life!: John's cancer stories
In France to the amazement of all our prayer warriors! The Lord made a way for us to be there in the midst of John's battle for his life against brain cancer! In her habit and changed her name from Susan Angela to Little Sister Hallel - "it means giving God all the praise from Hallelujah!"John went to Lourdes now 3 times and fell in LOVE with Our Lady and with The Catholic Church through his battle with brain cancer 14 years ago!
It is so great that John is going along with us this weekend! "It has been a long time since I saw Sue!" Yes, we still call her Susan, and her dad calls most of the farm girls Susan most all the time!
We will share with them in The Eucharist and Adoration morning and night!
7 years ago Therese with her baby sister, Evangeline Mary. They have 3 brothers between them, and now a brother and sister younger than Eve! 7 great kids in our military family!
7 years ago - Nancy's 2 oldest girls - Bernadette, who will be 11 on Monday and Josephine, who is 7 they have added a boy and girl younger, and 2 other older brothers - 6 great kids in Bill and Nancy's family! Nancy's ministry - The Catholic Sprouts Podcast - Catholic Sprouts is touching many Catholic families!
We had our study group in The Parsonage - the lights on in the church across the street thrilled me!
Had to take 2 with my reflection - I can't get over this place and the view!
My sweet little buddy, Tom. He loves to come to grandma's house!
Lucy facetiming her dad! How she loves him! He takes such good care of her as he is the dad at home with the kids! Such an important job that is!
John went to mass with me this morning. I couldn't say that my day started going to mass with my husband rather with my son! Such an amazing way to start our day, and now looking forward to our time shared with Maria and Hallel and their families! It is a feast day of John's - St John Lateran the Basilica of the Pope in Rome! John asked why there were 3 readings today - "it is one of your Feast Days today!"
The second reading from St Paul to the Corinthians...
Reading 2 1 Cor 3:9c-11, 16-17
You are God's building.
According to the grace of God given to me,
like a wise master builder I laid a foundation,
and another is building upon it.
But each one must be careful how he builds upon it,
for no one can lay a foundation other than the one that is there,
namely, Jesus Christ.
From the first reading in Ezekiel this morning - thanks, dad.
St Mother Teresa of Calcutta today - end the horror of abortion - how did it ever come to be accepted that we can kill human life in the womb?!? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
