St Joseph... a man to look to

My husband and our son-in-law, Paul, are starting to farm together when Paul can get away from his other job.  They are wonderful examples to us of men that work with their hands as well as their minds on the farm.  They are also men of great faith and listen to the Holy Spirit in their domestic Church/family.  Pat, my husband, chose St Joseph for his patron saint and today is the feastday of St Joseph!  So within two days he has a feastday to celebrate - too bad that it is Lent and we are in the midst of calving and crazy busy!  Not much celebrating around here these days unless we are happy for a smooth delivery or a calf that learns to nurse on his mother without help!  I have been blessed with both a father and now a husband, who like St Joseph, listened to the Spirit's promptings in their lives.  I have shared a lot about that on both my conversion page about my dad, and our marriage story about my husband, Patrick.  So rather than repeat that again.. I would say if you want more that you may go there and find what I am talking about.  It is beautiful the way St Joseph was ministered to in his dreams.  For Pat - it was a newly ordained priest, Fr Harry, who made a lasting and deep impression on him - "The world needs LIGHTS!"  Since St Joseph said no words in scripture - they call him the quiet man, who listened to the Holy Spirit and acted to become a husband to Mary, the Mother of God, and her Son, Jesus Christ the Son of God!  Quiet does not describe Pat nor Paul, but listening to the Spirit..YES!!
So very wonderful to have these men of FAITH leading our familes/domestic church!  We are blessed by their LOVE of the Church and openness to Family!  St Joseph is a wonderful example to them of caring for your family and protecting them from the harm of the world and the lies of Satan!  Jesus. we thank and praise YOU for the wonderful men in our lives, and how we know that they - our Most Cherished Crosses are allowing us to follow after YOU and find LIFE, LOVE, and LIGHT!  Jesus, we trust in you.  Amen and Halleluia

Bless-bless, Barb
It was cute last night - I could hear dad, Paul, downstairs mixing up bottles for the orphan twins we are bottle feeding and I could hear kids too.  Mary had asked her mom to drive her over to feed them their bottle last night.  She is a girl that loves her farm!
"The Lord God then took the man and settled him in the garden of Eden, to cultivate and care for it” (Genesis 2:15). The Father created all and asked humanity to continue the work of creation. We find our dignity in our work, in raising a family, in participating in the life of the Father’s creation. Joseph the Worker was able to help participate in the deepest mystery of creation. Pius XII emphasized this when he said, “The spirit flows to you and to all men from the heart of the God-man, Savior of the world, but certainly, no worker was ever more completely and profoundly penetrated by it than the foster father of Jesus, who lived with Him in closest intimacy and community of family life and work. Thus, if you wish to be close to Christ, we again today repeat, ‘Go to Joseph’” (see Genesis 41:44).
