Shepherding us Sunday

Longing for the day that all 5 of my kids could be together... a week ago - I was able to record it as proof positive!  It had been 3 years since John's cancer brought us all together!  We were uncertain if he would survive - forever removing him from the picture of LIFE, LOVE, and LIGHT.  Even to this day he struggles with the fact that he was spared from death.  A few months ago he called to tell his dad and I that he was going into spiritual therapy to deal with this burning question - "Why didn't I die, Lord?"  It just happened that when we grabbed this picture - each married daughter had her baby in her arms! Truly a picture of LIFE!!!  Ruth also told us a few weeks ago that she is expecting a baby in about 6 months!  This is actually in order of age going from right to left.
The second reading on this Good Shepherd Sunday speaks of the Lord that John longed to come to know - to find Faith in his life!  His prayer was answered with a week later by brain cancer!  This is who he now loves and serves and is answering a call to discern the seminary!  "For the Lamb who is in the center of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to springs of life-giving water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."
http://dnu.org/news/documents/JAN.2013MASTERISSUE.pdf  Here is John's article from the Prairie Catholic in which he shares that moment of agonizing realization that the Lord answered his half-hearted prayer for Faith!  He still is uncertain as to his call to the priesthood, but this has been a very powerful year of growth in faith and knowledge and LOVE of Jesus, and His glorious Bride, The Church!

Lord, Family is our flock of LIFE, LOVE and LIGHT!  May we always look to YOU, realizing that You are our Good Shepherd.  You give us all we need so that we can leave our selfishness behind and serve YOU with all that we are given.   We grow daily with all that you give us - nourished with Your Word and Sacraments!  Today as we gather around your table we are united at the Banquet of LIFE and LOVE!  Jesus, we trust in YOU.  Amen and Halleluia

Bless-bless, Barb
Next Sunday will be Simon's first Communion!  A day of in which we will gather to celebrate with him, and that will give him the life-giving food for LIFE, LOVE, and bring him always to the LIGHT!

About the woman, who comes up to touch the hem of his garment and is healed - we do that each time we take his Body and Blood into us!
