Baby Jude wide awake this morning with a fuzzy sheep and a Tshirt that speaks the truth.
A gift from her boss when the news of their pregnancy came... "For this child we have prayed" Yes!!! There is sheer joy abounding in our family at the peace of having all the new babies here safe and thriving along with their wonderful mothers!
Just back from a 2 hour test with the Psychologist for testing mom, and when we met with her after we got the results finally after some time of realizing that her memory is not what it used to be... some dementia probably due to vascular reasons.
She can still drive around town here, and with reminders from dad to continue with her daily chores and cooking and all that she does to make their home peaceful and orderly. It might not progress much and we are hopeful for that. She needs to decide if meds are something she wants to go with. She tends to not like meds so that probably won't happen... time will tell.
We have seen signs of memory loss/short term and it is good to hear that this is in the early stages and won't necessarily progress much. Dad is very sharp, and she goes to him for the things that she cannot recall or has forgotten. It takes patience on his part, and humility on hers. True of all of us in our relationships with our spouses... right?
It has been a good time here, and I see the Lord's providence in that I happened to be here and was able to accompany mom this morning. I will be updating my family on this new information and finally some answers to what we have noticed for a while. Mom also has been aware probably more than any of us, and reminds us often of her head pressure and accompanying memory issues.
Sleepy Jude... it is so nice to see my little grandsons as they are growing and changing!
David and Rose with Jude...Dad has noticed that St John in his Gospels over the last few days speaks often how He has been sent by his Father...
So Jesus cried out in the temple area as he was teaching and said,
"You know me and also know where I am from.
Yet I did not come on my own,
but the one who sent me, whom you do not know, is true.
I know him, because I am from him, and he sent me."
Asking my dad about this..."We are all sent! We are called to evangelize our faith with others and are sent forth!" It was pretty special this morning to have my mom share with the psychologist about how wonderful and how we love our Catholic faith, and shared our conversion 41 years ago. Dad smiled at this and said that mom has "evangelized" to other doctors about the Church and how we love her. Mom takes being "sent" seriously and does not let that slip from her memory! LOVE!!

The 13 shortly after we came into The Church at "the farm" in Miltown, WI... all 13 came into The Church just as Vatican II was happening and many were leaving The Church. We swam against the tide and each day since has been a wonderful joy and delight filled with more than I can ever fully take in...
the Saints, Our Lady and her Rosary prayer without ceasing, the Word, and the Sacraments, the prayer of the Church with morning and evening prayer and night prayer and midday prayer and great converts like Scott Hahn and one I just learned of...Crossing the Tiber by Steve Ray, which my mom is now reading, and found a quote in there of her from her contribution to Spiritual Journeys a book of conversion stories. Dad shared that Steve evangelized and brought into The Church a black pastor from Detroit area and some of his congregation. Wow!
George a few days ago in KC with big sister, Bernadette, still in her Catholic school uniform. He is cooing and eye contact is growing more and more and smiling, too!
It is such a good reminder that we are truly sent as Jesus was, and no matter the lies and the attacks and the falsehood we see around us or leveled at us... Jesus certainly today felt the hatred and desire for his death from those around him, but he continued on and trusted as his hour was not yet come. Jesus, has us in the palm of his hand and he is in control... we need not fear and we need to never hesitate to go out and share our JOY and Truth with the entire world... starting at home in our domestic Church/family.

Our family in Michigan in 1968... moved to Mpls a year later and then into The Church.
Jesus, how we hope that we can share your Truth without hesitation. May our lives lived for you be share the LIGHT/LOVE/LIFE we have been given as we embrace our Most Cherished cross and follow after you. Jesus, we trust in you. Bless-bless, Barb
