Cross Christmas Camp 2024 - healing and recovery since Covid and both parents passing in 2020/Guide me in your truth and teach me +JMJ+

Sunday of CCC with John's 3 and 2 of Nancy's as we are packing and cleaning after our wonderful weekend with my family.  Being the oldest of 12 - even though my parents both died in 2020 only 7 months apart... we are discovering that we can continue on gathering the weekend before Christmas in our beloved Camp Wapogasset outside of Amery, WI.  No matter what reason for some to miss any or all of it - we still have a big group!
We were sad that Ruth's family were unable to come this year.  They had a family Christmas celebration of their own including doing the LIVE Nativity in light up the night here in Marshall.  Super special to recall the true reason for the Season!
Our 3 five year olds together for the weekend.  John and his 3 littles traveled with us to and from camp.  We stopped in Delano on the way to watch their special Christmas Program put on by their Catholic School - St Maximilian Kolbe Catholic School.  Truly they shared the True meaning of Christmas!
A chess tournament for the older boys.  How I love to see the different age groups still enjoying our weekend together.  There even was some inches of snow to make it all so beautiful and even sledding.
Lucy meeting the Librande's dog, Dom.
A group of the girl cousins posing for grandma.  Thanks, sweet girls!
St Max Christmas concert - Angels we have heard on HIGH!  Berna in the balcony singing.
The choir wear scarves - Berna and Josephine are in it.  Such a beautiful Church!!!
John and Lucy - she is our youngest grandchild and will be 2 next month.
My travel companions in the back seat for the 2 1/2 hours to Delano and then another almost 2 hours to Camp Wapo.  John's 2 oldest call it "Criss-Cross Christmas Camp"... too cute!
Pat with the group of 3 boys that are now 11.  This was 9 years ago at CCC!
John, Pat with Birdie in the middle as we go to Criss Cross Christmas Camp - CCCC!  So excited as we love our wonderful traditions!

Maggie with a button Christmas tree ornament that was part of the crafts this year.  She made this for her Godmother for Christmas!
Saturday the 21st was little Dave's birthday #15!  This is him at age 3 - he still is loving the adventures of Ju Jitsu, battles with nerf swords, and board games!  He is eyeing the priesthood, and asking the Lord to show him the Plan that is for him alone!
Big Sister Therese with her nativity made from clay pots!  So precious.  Sweet Bernadette made one of me, and two of my sisters, Marty and Paula!  Such a sweet surprise, and so thoughtful.
David blowing out his 15 candles!
Another craft for the younger kids was to thread beads on a snowflake.  Birdie's was then made into a necklace.  As a side note we forgot to get the suitcases of clothes for John's 3 kids, so we had to borrow from some of the cousins...
Fun with my mother's buttons! Nancy was always a lover of buttons and Maria just loved this way to make some special ornaments to trees of Godparents.
Josephine and Maggie...
Birdie and Magdalene hard at it!
All ages loved to make special Christmas gifts and ornaments.
5 year old Hector made a button tree.  Cute alert!
Nephew Sam has had this vision of making Jesus on the Cross with the Divine Mercy water and blood coming down upon us!
Jude and Gina watching Sam putting up his vision.
Family Rosary at the foot of the Cross and such a beautiful view of the lake and snow!  My brother, Dan and his wonderful wife, Angela.  These two with their kids and grandkids are the main push in decorating for our weekend and clean up afterwards!  So grateful to them!  Dan wants it to continue after losing mom and dad, and it is growing more and more as we begin to heal and recover from the blow that was Covid!
Nancy and Gina praying the Joyful Mysteries as family.  One of my brothers a few years back pointed out that our Camp was becoming a Catholic Family Camp.  Yes!!!!!
Dan and Angela bring this precious baby Jesus as one would see in Rome!  LOVE!  Birdie Barbara had many pictures taken and sent to her mom, who was home with her visiting brothers here from California.
The 4th Sunday of Advent candle in our prayer space with Lucy Marie!  She was so great to have along.

The Birthday boy with his cousin, 13 year old Augustine.  They are best buddies, and obviously think alike!
My JOY!!!  The annual picture with many more than we have had in a long time.  My greatest JOY is for people to be with us for the amount of time that they want to be there, and slowly but surely that is happening for more and more to come back to CCCC!
As is our tradition a boyfriend/fiancé of a niece took our picture this year.  Their wedding day will be September 20th!
Cousins - 3 year old Gina and 5 year old Hector pose with baby Jesus for that grandma that wants to record every minute of our CCCC!
Little Lucy was so good for grandma!
Therese with Lucy.  T is always so wonderful with the little ones!
We did it!  We put on a full Christmas dinner on Saturday night for 40+ gathered for the weekend.  About 40 more came for Santa, Family picture and the Dance.  So much JOY and fun!!!
Gina and Lucy with Uncle John.
John with his 2 girls in clothes that we borrowed from Gina as they left their suitcases at home.
Gina feeling pretty and special thanks to Gina!
Christmas cookie decorating - eyeballs were popular.  Maggie...
George and his cute cookie man!
Hector and Maggie swing dancing after being taught by big sister, Therese.
Bernadette is 12 and she surprised my two sisters and I with these special nativity scenes she made.  So sweet and special -thank you, sweet girl!
More dancing!
Lucy at the dance - she put on miles walking around the around the dance floor with her puppy gift and lights and a smile!
Jude at the dance!
Lucy did not like Santa this year.  I bet next year she hops up on his lap fearlessly.
Leading singing of Christmas Carols before Santa arrives.
Jude and Santa - there were 42 Santa gifts this year for all from birth to 12th grade!
4 year old Birdie Barbara
Maria with her Godmother, my sister Paula.
Grandpa always loves to have his lap full of the little ones!  Gina and Maggie are both 3 now and Tom is also!
After the flash mob which is the picture of 80+.  We still have about 50 missing!
Our beautiful Church decorated for Christmas!  There are fake plans flying around of joining Nancy's family or Hallel's family for Christmas... still up in the air.
Truth!!!
A few miles down the road for home.  So tired in a good way!

The Gospel today is the beautiful sharing of the birth of John the Baptist - "His name is John."  and then his father could regain his speech.
Psalm 25 is wonderful today!
Your ways, O LORD, make known to me;
teach me your paths,
Guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my savior.
R. Lift up your heads and see; your redemption is near at hand.  Psalm 25

I am always loving to sit at the feet of my Lord with the help of my dad and Our Lady and all the Saints of The Church!  LOVE!
Little elf Birdie in the beautiful snow, and thankfully it warmed up on Sunday as she also left her jacket at home!  We managed with our forgetfulness to still have a wonderful time at CCCC.  Criss Cross Christmas Camp!
Quiet trip home!
So pretty!
Major Joseph and family on the road to go to mass in the Cities on their way back to Kansas.  How we love to share CCCC with them!  The fact that they had 9 hours on the road... Wow!  That speaks my love language.
Pat with Nancy's oldest, Gus, and youngest, Gina.  LOVE the Verly Christmas shirt from a few years back.
Always need 2 of everything or mostly 3!
So much fun at the dance! It was a good 2 hours of fun!
Maggie fell asleep on her mom's shoulder.  That is good and tired.
Can't get enough of this!  Thank you, Lord and Lady for my wonderful big and loving family!  Thank you for the healing that continues as we gather year after year with all the ups and downs and changes.  Bridges were built and more recovery will happen with prayers and sharing.  Jesus, we trust in you.  Bless-bless, Barb and the 130+ which are the Crosses.
CCCC 14 years ago - Big Dave, who is now 16 and beautiful Savior!
"Let each of us leave his house empty
so that we may see our Master
wrapped in swaddling clothes
and lying in a manger...

The table of this altar
takes the place of the manger.
And surely the Master's body
will be lying on this altar."
St John Chrysostom
