LOVE this from 2 years ago - Tom just turned 3 and he just left after our usual Tuesday together while his mom sleeps after working overnight.
Yesterday was the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of Mary. Such a beautiful mass and readings! I was thrilled by the prayer before Communion - "on account of your prevenient grace, to be untouched by any stain of sin, so through her intercession, we may be delivered from all our faults..."
"Prevenient" - "A Christian theological concept that refers to the grace of God in a person's life which precedes and prepares to conversion." Father Denny used it in his homily and then in the prayer over the Offerings! A new and very rich in meaning word!
This is one of my favorite pictures of Ruth with baby Joy 7 years ago in front of my most favorite statue of the Immaculate Conception as Mary is crushing the head of Satan/the Serpent.
Wow!!! She has been recently painted and is more beautiful than ever. Notice the foot on Satan!!! She is one super Woman/Mother!Grandpa's truck filled with wood that has now been snowed on. Snowflakes on Tommy's face too.
Building trucks by the Advent wreath. Tom is so good for grandma, and then he wants to take a 2 hour nap and grandma has to lay down by him. So hard on me!
There has been so much beauty and Truth about beautiful wonderful Mother of God, Mary most Holy! Yesterday was absolutely glorious with mass at noon. On top of it was the feast of Juan Diego, to whom Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared to and left her miraculous image on his tilma! How I love her! It seems lately that she is honored with each new day. Today is Our Lady of Loreto - the Holy house where the Angel appeared in the Annunciation - leading all who visit it to consider "the fullness of time", when God sent his Son, born of a woman."
A photo shoot 4 years ago when Birdie Barbara was 7 months old! So precious!
So much like my girls! She is a true Verly girl!
Mary with the glorious sunset a few days ago now with a slight dusting of snow.
Crushing Satan!
Wow!!!
Juan Diego with the roses in winter, and Our Lady of Guadalupe! The Feast is in 2 days on the 12th of December!
Joy visited us on the Second Sunday of Advent and lit the 2 candles
Tom and Neumann on Christmas pillows
Naptime for both in my room - Tom generally takes a nice 2 hour nap for grandma. So wonderful!
Tom sees grandpa's truck loaded over the top with wood. Pat has a woodstove in the basement and in so happy to be cutting and burning wood again after 7 years off. "I suffered without my woodstove and burning and cutting wood." I truly see that he LOVES to burn wood!
Tom by the Advent wreath in his stocking cap.
Mater and Neumann together - how Tom loves to chase him around the house with Mater. The cat usually goes under the bed or upstairs. Jesus and Mary looking on over my dad's chair.
Joy lighting the candle by St Barbaras - it was her Feast day on the 4th of December. My namesake along with Birdie Barbara and Truly an Advent Saint - hence she is keeping her place by the Advent wreath for a while.
Grandpa and Joy lighting the 2 candles for the Second Sunday of Advent - The Gospel for Sunday was from Luke and John the Baptist making the way for The Lord!
Gospel Mt 18:12-14
Jesus said to his disciples:
"What is your opinion?
If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them goes astray,
will he not leave the ninety-nine in the hills
and go in search of the stray?
And if he finds it, amen, I say to you, he rejoices more over it
than over the ninety-nine that did not stray.
In just the same way, it is not the will of your heavenly Father
that one of these little ones be lost."
I know that in my own life I have certainly felt like the lost sheep as the way the Lord pursued me and rejoiced over my finding my Faith and LOVE for Jesus, Mary and The Catholic Church! My amazing story of our entire family of 13 coming into The Church 53 years ago on Christmas Midnight Mass at the Cenacle Convent where we received our First Communion!

He sure gets a lot of snuggles and petting with his Joy Joy.
Tom with his ticket for the Camp Foley breakfast - next year Luke will go and in 8 years it will be Tom's turn. His mom went to Camp Foley along with her sisters and brother. We even think that Pat's younger siblings went to Camp Foley! A wonderful family Tradition indeed!
John and his youngest, Lucy Marie, under the watchful eye of St Patrick, heading down to Camp Foley Breakfast.
Pancakes!!!
How would Jesus deny his mother anything that she asked of him? Impossible! I need to finish my prayer to Mary and Jesus - the Rosary!
A year ago it was 65 degrees this late in the year.
LOVE this Truth - Mary is the tabernacle in which Jesus dwells in The Eucharist!
My new breakfast cook - I miss making pancakes for the grandkids! He made pancakes for 20 down at Fort Riley after Thanksgiving!
Every Saturday is devoted to Mary! The First Saturday is very important and special in that way too.
Tommy in my tub for a swim.
Putting his blanket over Neumann, and the cat seems to like the attention.
Baby Rose 12 years ago with her first topknot. Another granddaughter that looks like my girls did! Therese with her family portrait for a family of Taylors. So gifted in watercolor or in stitchery on the baby blankets that Maria makes and Therese adds a patch of the family portrait!
She also looks like her mom, and my girls. It is such a gift to have more Verly girls!

My girls in the famous snow suit picture! Christmas jumpers even for mom, which I sewed for quite a few years.Thank you, Lord and Lady for Advent and all the ways we can look for your coming into our hearts with each new day. How we love to the beauty and Truth of Mary the Mother of God. We know that we are loved by you and how we are pursued by you to follow your amazing plan for each one of us. Jesus, we trust in you. Bless-bless, Barbara and the 33 here and 13 in heaven keeping our eyes on heaven as we stumble down the narrow path with heaven as our goal.
My sister, Marty, who lives close by my parents' grave by Taylors Falls making it look like Christmas is near. Wish I could visit them more often, but I know they are with me in my heart, and I am blessed to read my dad's Prayer of The Church each day where he underlined and circled and wrote in it to continue to teach me and guide me as I sit as his feet. Mom also left me daily meditations of Pope Benedict XVI which she read for 10 years and I am now on my 5th year! So deep and powerful and wonderful! Thanks, mom and dad! I love you and miss you!
