Every Saturday is devoted to our Blessed Mother, and this is a wonderful way to begin the Mother's Day weekend. Yes, it is a manmade way to get us to spend money, but it is also wonderful to give our mothers a tribute for bringing us into the world and all that they do for us from the day we are born to now. I know of my parents prayers for me every day as do my children know of mine... there is a great peace connected with the knowledge as well as knowing that it is all in the Lord's hands! He is in control!
With their greens and babies breath - so beautiful and such a tribute to the mothers that we love! And I feel such a wonderful tribute to Birthright, and the work they do to protect the unborn. The symbol for Birthright is the rose too! Birthright is there to help women to realize that it is a life, and not a clump of tissue in their womb, but it is a baby with a beating heart and arms and legs... we are there to help them see a way to carry the baby in a difficult situation, and even to see clear to give the baby to a couple that is longing for a child of their own! There are so many that struggle with fertility, and yearn to love a child. That is a huge gift to them and a huge sacrifice for the woman giving the child to be raised and loved by others.
So with Mary standing beside her Son - knowing how much he loves and honors her... just as we do our mothers this Mother's Day weekend... we pray... Jesus along with your most wonderful Mother, Mary Most Holy, go forth with us today as we strive to love and serve you with all that we do today. Allow me to serve and care for those that are unable to care for themselves at the nursing home... many of those beloved mothers, who brought into this world children to love and nurture. Be with all those that are contemplating taking the life of that little innocent life within them. May someone help them to see the light at the end of the tunnel and realize that there is a way to carry that baby and to give it LIFE! Thanks mom for Life! That is what is on every rose we put together yesterday, and we are so grateful for our parents' openess to life! Jesus, we trust in you. Amen and Halleluia!
Gospel for today - John 6: 16-21
"...they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat, and they began to be afraid. But he said to them, 'It is I. Do not be afraid.' " Jesus, we love you and need you as we face the storms of life... you carry us to safety and allow us to have peace in the midst of the storms of life. Feed us with your Word - come dwell in us that we may bear you to the world.
