Rosary with the cows/Total LOVE of God and neighbor/Looking back 11 years ago today!/Anticipation building- prayers for safe travels

11 years ago today... the Vigil of the Queenship of Mary... we were in Saint Pierre, France on a wing and a prayer!  John had just completed his second chemo for brain cancer, and he got better!  Within 24 hours we had tickets to fly to France for Susan becoming a  nun and joining The Community of the Lamb!

In the crazy time - John's luggage got lost and he had to borrow some of the Little Brother's blue clothes.  Since his brain biopsy - he could not use his left side properly due to ataxia, and was walkingon a platform walker!
Soon he and Susan/Hallel discovered that he could walk with his sister under his arm...He ain't heavy - he's my brother!
Our view while we prayed our rosary and chaplet on the porch yesterday...  Dad enjoys being able to watch the cows and calves, and they seemed to be content to eat the grass in the paddock and many got a good drink from the water tank as the creek in the pasture is drying up in the drought we are facing here.

Many prayers for rain... the cows and calves joined in!  They remained there and as a group went down the path to the pasture right as we ended the Luminous mysteries together.

Mary is always with us bringing our petitions and needs to her Son!
Our prayer partners - dad and I doing our work of prayer!  this is truly where we find our strength and our JOY in the midst of taking a day at a time of dad being on hospice in my home on the farm.  A beautiful masterpiece on the prairie farm!
As we pray for many on our chaplet we are filled with Trust that Jesus is in control!
Dad taking in God's creation!

Dad had been up since 5a in his chair this morning and had read the Gospel for today!  He came forth for breakfast and morning prayer sharing that it was the two Commandments we are called to live by...“You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart,

with all your soul, and with all your mind.
This is the greatest and the first commandment.
The second is like it:
You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.”

2 years ago!  Such a blessing and miraculous happening that 19 of us gathered in France around Hallel!  Experiencing first hand what I had experienced twice before - in 2009 when she took her habit and changed her name on this very day!  August 21st - the Vigil of the Queenship of Mary!

And then 2 years later with Pat and his mother, Anna, for Hallel's first vows.  When Pat and mom witnessed the taking of habit and changing of names the night before - they both wept to see the transformation and imagining how powerful it had been for John, Nancy and I to be there in the midst of John's brain cancer battle to see Susan become Hallel!

John in France with Susan... 11 years ago today!

Little Sister Hallel - taking her habit and changing her name to - "every time someone says my name they are giving God all the praise and glory"- so perfect on this day where are are given the foremost Commandment of loving God with our whole heart, soul, and mind!  Hallel is the first part of Hallelujah!

If John and I look aglow - we were in total shock that John had been well enough after his second chemo for brain cancer to go to France!  We had returned our tickets...thinking that there was no way we could make the trip, but within 24 hours we realized that he was barely able to get through the airport and we went!!!  So many prayers and such a shock to find ourselves there... then

Love this BIG and it shows the droplets of the healing waters on his hair!  "I asked them to pour water over my head because that is where I need the healing!"  Lourdes!!!  Fr Craig made sure that John got confession, mass, and assisted him in the bathes where the Miraculous waters touched him deeply!

John did not have a miraculous healing here, although he fell head over heels in love with Our Lady of Lourdes, and she led him to embrace his Faith in her Son, Jesus, and His Bride, The Church!  He is also cancer free for 11 years now, and has found a wonderful wife, who was praying for him for all those years as she heard the Lord tell her in high school that she would marry John Verly! Now they also have 2 wonderful children as the story continues to be amazing!

Sisters, Hallel and Nancy helping him walk in Lourdes.  A picture of the cross in John's life which continues to play out to this day!  The new John since brain cancer struggles to hold down jobs and we pray without ceasing for the Lord to reveal his plan for him!  How he love to share his story, and return the love and forgiveness he has been given!

His promo video...

Please Lord send rain!
The crops are suffering, too.
No need to mow until the rains help it to grow once again.

I am finding myself getting a bit anxious with all that lies ahead with Pat flying out to Seattle in the morning and then driving Maria and her 6 kids here.  In the meantime Nancy is bringing down her kids as their big presentation for Our Sunday Visitor has been moved up to Monday - a week sooner than they thought and it is all virtual!  So much to pray about and there will be that crazy element of cooking for 30!  I know that Ruth and I have these huge meals down to a science, yet we will also have huge canning jobs to do in the midst of it all!  Probably hundreds of jars of applesauce to do - many hands make light work, but also makes it a zoo!!!  I am taking deep breathes and reminding myself that this is what I have longed for and I want to cherish every last minute of it!
With our new nun and John cancer free in 2010!

Lord, we sing Hallelujah this day giving you all the LOVE in our hearts, minds and souls!  May we die to self so that you may live in us and use us to your honor and glory... allowing us to love our neighbor as ourselves.  Jesus, we trust in you.  Amen and Hallelujah
John in Lourdes 2011... he and Pat went into the bathes!  Mom Verly and I did not get to do the bathes, but we were deeply touched by Our Lady of Lourdes.  Bless-bless, Barbara

So true... her LOVE is so much helping me to find that peace in the midst of the LIFE that lies ahead these next weeks!
