CCC 2023 - My sadness was turned to JOY - Military surprise! Thanks Mom and dad! - "blessed forever be his glorious name" - +JMJ+

2 1/2 year old Maggie Rose dressed for mass on Sunday at Camp Wapo.

I would say that I had the biggest surprise of my life on Saturday afternoon at my family's Christmas Camp in Amery, WI!  This little girl walked ahead of the rest of her family - all 9 had driven from Fort Leavenworth, KS that day to surprise us in time for all the fun we celebrate starting with our Christmas supper and on from there.
Hubby Farmer Pat with Regina Maria, who celebrated her 2nd Birthday at CCC on Saturday!  We met my brother, Dan's 5 month old granddaughter for the first time.  Unfortunately our youngest granddaughter, Lucy, was home in Marshall with a fever with mom and missed her first CCC.  Next year!
On the road for CCC with John and his two oldest, Jude and Birdie Barbara.  I have been feeling sad about how so few from our family were going to make camp this year.  As it all played out John almost backed out and seemed to come along hesitantly.  Nancy came just for the day on Saturday.  Ruth and the farm family did not come this year.  We thought that was true for our military family too.
I got pretty emotional bringing along this special picture of mom and Santa dad probably 15 or more years ago.  And as always since our First Communion was on Midnight Christmas Eve mass 52 years ago... I get so emotional about this landmark.  I had to bring along dad's - who was a permanent deacon in The Catholic Church for 44 years - Prayer of The Church!  I love how he underlines and highlights each time "The Name" is used in the prayer!

Family Soul Story - Choose Life!: The amazing story of the 13 becoming Catholic!

Today in the Psalm from mass - Psalm 72 - all about the King's son, and "Blessed me forever his glorious name!"

Responsorial Psalm Ps 72:1-2, 12-13, 18-19

R. (see 7) Justice shall flourish in his time, and fullness of peace for ever.
O God, with your judgment endow the king,
and with your justice, the king's son;
He shall govern your people with justice
and your afflicted ones with judgment.
R. Justice shall flourish in his time, and fullness of peace for ever.
For he shall rescue the poor when he cries out,
and the afflicted when he has no one to help him.
He shall have pity for the lowly and the poor;
the lives of the poor he shall save.
R. Justice shall flourish in his time, and fullness of peace for ever.
Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel,
who alone does wondrous deeds.
And blessed forever be his glorious name;
may the whole earth be filled with his glory.
R. Justice shall flourish in his time, and fullness of peace for ever.

My brother, Jim and his wife, Elaine, making us breakfast on Saturday morning!
One of the wonderful miracles of our gathering was the fact that brother Jim got all 6 of his kids together for the weekend!  Here is Elaine with oldest girl, Dorothea, with the frosting for the sugar cookies we decorated.  It was a special tradition revisited after some years off.
Jude's super cute with his candy cane man with googly eyes!

Birdie was stuck on pink with pink springles sugar.  "I love Pink!"
Grandma and Birdie Barbara had some team work going on the hot pink cookies.
Birthday girl, Gina, keeping her birthday jumper clean while she is busy putting lots of frosting on her cookies.
LOVE this time with family in this beautiful camp Wapo!
The eye balls added some cute faces to the cookies - Bernadette cute with her cute cookies!

Zoe poses with all the beautiful cookies - those pink ones are all Birdie's!
Brother Dan with his youngest granddaughter, Beatrix.  They do her daycare 3 days a week and a lot of days she comes to visit Dan in his home office and talks to him.  We are so blessed by our growing families as our children say yes to LIFE and raising them as LIGHTS in the world!

Family Soul Story - Choose Life!: Our marriage stories - "The world needs LIGHTS!"

Another special miraculous happening last weekend was to have my sister's daughter come with her family!  My sister, Mary, died of cancer in 1986 leaving her farmer husband, Gerry, and 20 month old Audrey.  Our CCC started a few years before Mary died as we knew our time with her was coming to an end.  That means that we have had CCC for 38 years now - only missing one during covid. Gerry has remarried Cathy with her 5 kids and now has 22 grandkids like us!

Family Soul Story - Choose Life!: The story of my sister, Mary.

For the second year we have made a turkey Christmas dinner with all the trimmings for Saturday supper!  Here is son-in-law, Major Joseph, who surprised me like never before by coming in time for our wonderful night of family picture, Santa after caroling, and then a dance with glow sticks!
Grandpa with his arms full of his girls - 2 year old Regina and 2 1/2 year old Maggie, who drove from Kansas to join the fun!  All she wanted was to be on Bumpa's lap!
Miraculous!  Jim with his entire family there to share our special family weekend!  As all of these special elements started to add up to pure JOY and happiness and deep LOVE for my wonderful family!

I really felt that mom and dad were looking down on us and showering us with so many blessings!  My sad frown was turned upside down!

A brown winter - some ice on Lake Wapogasset... Gus with a chair by the shore.
Bernadette and I out getting branches for a Charlie Brown Christmas tree for Santa.  With no jackets needed!
Getting natural decorations fot the tree - can this be December 17th?
Decorating was a group effort between ferns, pine needles and oak leaves...
We went shopping for our glow sticks for the dance and Berna and I got a short string of lights for our humble Christmas tree made from branches in the woods.
Humble and beautiful - the ferns made it look like it was green.  One pine cone too!

Military granddaughter, Evie, lost her front teeth lately and she got her front teeth for Christmas.  Grandma got to French braid her hair, and how I love to do girl's hair!  With my 4 girls and then you had that boy - I would go down the row and do their hair!  Now with 11 granddaughters I can celebrate that JOY with them!
7 year old Evie with 3 year old Birdie Barbara - I was able to do both of their hair!  My JOY!

Nephew, Sam with his youngest Cecelia and sister, Paula, lead us on our caroling before Santa.  Charlie Brown Christmas tree is aglow for our gathering.  A sister came with her family for the big party!
Santa!  We all sang Rudolph the Rednose Reindeer for him, and our petitions of thanks or need to Baby Jesus - "He is the reason for the season!"
The excitement on their faces is a source of JOY!
A photo time for each little one!  Birdie Barbara
Jude with Santa.
The 3 oldest in our family! I am the oldest of the original 11, Marty is the second in line, and Paula is #3.  The 3 of us haven't been together at CCC since before Covid!  This was a true miracle and I am still pinching myself!  Thanks mom and dad for bringing us together!
Maggie at the dance - how we love to watch the little ones!  Regina was such a cute birthday girl at the dance!
Jude getting into the dance!
Crab rave is a big hit with the little ones.
Bernadette at the dance.  Nancy told me that they had such a wonderful time, and I am so grateful that they were there when our military cousins surprised us.  12 year old Gus was so happy to see Dave, Patrick and Romeo!
The 3 little boys at the dance - all are 4 now and George, Jude and Hector had so much fun!
Birthday girl checking out the presents and tree - we sang her happy birthday and...
Birthday cake after singing Happy Birthday, Regina!
She got Bluey for her birthday...
bluey is a magnet for the kids!

"It sure was great to celebrate her birthday at CCC!" said mom and Gina agreed!

How we love our Camp Wapo!  Beautiful outside and inside!  John with 4 year old Jude Dale!
Now with his 2 oldest kids.
The family picture for 2023!  Small and intimate, yet a surprising group with some that shared with our time here and there.
Always have to do a silly one.  Not my cup of tea.  I think the head count here is close to 50 of the 140+ we have now in our family.

Starting our first morning with a family rosary.  Gaudete candle for the 3rd Sunday of Advent and our family in 1971 - the year we came into The Church!
The rosary mom gifted to me a few weeks ago when dad dug deep into mom's chair and found it!  Our Lady of Lourdes and Bernadette holy medal too!
Birthday girl with grandpa.
LOVE our Rosary time praying for our family united with Our Lady and our parents in Heaven!

Prayer is the wind beneath our wings!
Phil came with his wife and 2 little girls for some time with us.
Gina is two and so loved by her 5 older siblings!
Gathered around the sugar cookies - what a hit!  Thanks, Elaine, they were so beautiful, tasty and fun for the kids to decorate!
Still family and how Pat loves to share with Gerry, who farms in Wisconsin and was married to my sister, Mary, till she died from cancer in 1986.  "It was wonderful to see them again!"  Yes!!!
11 years ago - Bernadette, Patrick and Rose Again in the Christmas dance!
Two brothers and their wives came to make us a wonderful lunch featuring Al's Chili!  They missed the family picture  - adding the 15 that came during the day and added to our time = 65 which is almost half of our family!  A true miracle when I thought we were going to be so small and sad with so few coming together.  There was a different wonderful plan with the help of my parents from heaven!  LOVE my family!
Packing up on Suday - 10:30 mass in town and then on to the next family Christmas or for Sam and his family back to their home in Maryland.
A great prayer for vocations in the Superior Diocese.  Hear our prayer.
Bumpa with Hector and Maggie - they went on to Oma and Opah in Wisconsin for the week and then our family camp at Shetek next weekend.
Bumpa's happy place after mass in Amery - St Joseph
A picture of a miraculous surprise!
Jude and Hector are just 3 weeks apart!
Birdie is just a year younger than the 3 little boys and is friends with them too.
Sad to see it come to an end - now on to VCC - Verly Christmas Camp next weekend!  So excited!
Thanks Angela and Dan for all you do!  We love our CCC!
Bill Whithers - LOVEly Day

A song that shares the JOY I feel today - dance in your kitchen and feel how lovely life can be when we are blessed with wonderful family time supreme.

A sign of a good weekend... Jesus, we trust in you.  Bless-bless, Barbara and 140 in my extended family and 33 in my little immediate family.
