Pat came in to show me what stepping into a creek,while fixing a fence in one of his pastures had surprised him... I thought that it was a funny and very visual sight! To think of him in one minute on the bank and then with one step up to his neck... that shows in a graphic way how much rain we have gotten this summer! And more is coming they are forcasting!
With beans now ready to come out of the field... they tried to start harvesting last night but it was too wet... the ground is saturated and now talk of more inches of rain! The prayers have already begun around here for good drying winds and warm sun and that the crop may be harvested safely and without too much issues with the weather. But we all know... as Pat learned with one casual step that life is full of surprises!
This beautiful sunrise greeted me on Saturday... Hallel's birthday! There is always something very special about the day that you had one of your children! WE want to celebrate with them and hold them in an embrace... remembering the pain and joy of that day for us as the one that brought them into this world in such a lifechanging way! Susan was my tiny 4th girl! She for some reason weighed 2 pounds less than the others...at right around 6 pounds! Maybe the cord was not doing quite as good of a job as the others... now a days with the precise ultrasounds that are done... that would have been known and I would have worried throughout the pregnancy, but I was oblivious to any difference and had my sweet Sue maybe with a bit less pushing than the others...
I was a distracted grandma at mass on Sunday... sitting behind my daughter, Maria and her family... I snuck a few pictures of little Therese - age 2 1/2 - who is not allowed to bring toys into church with her... I remember going to mass with them in St Paul, when she was about 1 1/2 and she had a dolly in the car seat with her..."She can't bring that with her." They took it from her and left it in the car... she did not complain, but my heart felt sad that she could not bring her dolly with her. Now they give her a crucifix to hold onto during mass... She is certainly learning to be obedient and to "embrace a cross" at a young age!
She is a very wonderful girl... I, with great joy, watch her grow and develope... so loving and sweet to her younger brother and to grandma too! They will come to live with us for some months, while her dad joins the around Thanksgiving! 
The church steps are soon to be gone, as we put a gathering space there...so we went out after church to record them for posterity! It will be so good to have a gathering space for people to spend time in community! How we love our church community! 
Getting to church a bit late... we had to divide up into many pews... Nancy and John sat next to our old Catholic School principal... Sr Anna Marie... She has been praying for John as has all of our church community... they all find great joy in his healing and going forward into life!
The gathering space is now the church!
The many steps will be no more in a few months! A good change? Yes!
From the psalm for today... 119: 105
"Your word, O Lord, is a lamp to my feet."
Last evening spent in adoration... the waves of peace and joy flow over me. I had the delight of an appology... as a woman approached me after saying that she was sorry, but she had not given me a time slot in the now 2 days of adoration of the Blessed Sacrament..."I thought that you could come when it worked out in your schedule... I was so happy to get at least 3 people for every time slot for both days!" 
We both praised God to know that there was going to be that kind of prayer power unleashed in our church... good things are going to start reigning down upon us! We both know that those powerful things can lots of times be in the form of a cross! But we also know that there is the lifechanging power and glory of God... The Tree of Life! 
Most days there are encounters with youth... today will be no different as we teach religion tonight... it is a wonderful yet hard part of the call the Lord has given us!
Jesus, we ask you to reach out to the young people... use us as an instrument of your love and truth... allow them to see how exciting and life giving is a life spent with you in the center! A life that never grows dull or less than wonderful!
The last year spent with my son was special yet hard... now back to the "normal life"... whatever that means? Jesus I trust in you... use me in all that the day holds...now off to the adventure of Life and Love! Amen and Halleluia!
