I love this picture... it was the Christmas card that we used the year that Breno was our foreign exchange student from Brazil...2000-2001. So joyful and special to "see" the interaction! A couple nights ago I was watching a blind opera singer on TV and it was pointed out how hard it would be to not have sight... I tried to put myself into that dark world, and all I could say was that the world of hearing would be so much to us. We talked about how when we truly want to concentrate on the words of mass that I will shut my eyes and bow my head so that I am not distracted by the sights around me. Yes, there are sounds to go with the sights of all the people that surround me, but with my eyes closed I can focus on just the words of the priest, and with the change in the translation in English...there are now different words to listen to and they are in keeping with the true translation, and therefore something that I wish to hear and take into myself! Just as with our eyes... we look one way or another and focus on one thing in the wide panorama that is before us...with our hearing we can do the same thing with concentration, and taking the sight away is one way to make that happen. We need to decipher what is going on around us with hearing and touch if sight is taken away!

I just wanted to see Nancy at 7 months next to Gus... same eyes and skin for sure and so wonderful to see her so out of this world happy with her little guy ... Dear Lord we see that "St Lucy is said to have chosen blindness rather than betrayal of the Lord she loved and longed to see. In her suffering courage we catch sight of the light of faith that cannot be quenched by any darkness." see http://www.magnificat.com/ How we are reminded that we need to trust, and follow, and never deny the Truth in our lives! Her name means "light" and she relied on the true Light in this world... knowing that eyesight and the life here was only passing, but truly she belonged to you and looked to heaven and her time with you for eternity! To see our young children hear you calling them to follow you on narrow paths... so wonderful to witness and such powerful journies they lead us on! Deeper and deeper we as the wave of His Love, Life and Wisdom flow over us and around us! WE are filled to the brim with Joy and Hope and Peace and Love! Jesus, we trust in you! Amen and Halleluia!
