Called to "awkwardness"

Good Night
Lord, Help me remember, when I feel it's a chore
the time will come when I'll hold her no more
asleep on my chest, the crib refused
the blanket, the pacifier, gone unused.
What better place is there to lay her head...
than against my heart, my arms her bed?

For infants grow up and leave us behind
with only memories left to remind
us of midnight walking and predawn rocking,
of soft, helpless babies unable to sleep.

So, Lord, make me patient and keep me awake
while I cradle this child, and don't let me take
for granted the moments I spend in the night
with this ~ Your gift, my joy, my delight.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Beautiful is this image and poem to remind us that when we are willing to give of ourselves to bring life into the world and to raise lights....the sacrifice is a gift to us as well as the gift from God that each child as soon as it is in the womb is!  I called out in pain of spirit last night when I read of the miscarriage/loss of a most beloved life in the womb of a sweet family that we know.  Sharing that pain of experience of loss of an anticipated child we have loved from the moment we knew they were in our wombs!  I long to reach out to them, and it is once again hard to find the real and sincere words to comfort and support.
This was also discovered today... reminding us of additional help we have as we face each day and all it holds!  When I think of all the help we have for each day of our journey - The Word, The Saints, The Sacraments, The Rosary, PRAYER, and now I will add with great JOY - My Guardian Angel! My son, John, is famous for saying that there are moments of each day that are "awkward" as we step out in our faith.  I am very aware of this most especially this morning as I made a very difficult phone call to a person that has been placed upon my heart!  You definitely have to swallow your pride and be humble and awkward when you are called to do these out of the box reaching out in Faith things.  There is something most beautiful about this humble place - yet, why fear?  With the Saints led by Our Mother of Heaven and Earth, and that ever eager and willing Guardian Angel - we can swallow our pride and reach out no matter how painful or awkward or how we are rejected or ridiculed!  Pat and John were telling me that this person might be unable to say "yes" or come over for lunch, but to just reach out and give my number and say that I am here for her would be a way of ministering too.
Luke speaks the language of LOVE even though he has no words - his eyes and smile share that with his great-grandmother!  He is a lesson to me - I can express a language of LOVE and acceptance by listening with not too many words and a smile and paying close attention.
After a weekend of getting in touch deeply with the LOVE and unconditional forgiveness Christ has for us... the Gospel today is hard as Jesus is very critical and black and white with the Pharisees... telling them that since they will not accept Him as "I AM" - God made man- they are heading to condemnation!  It is just such a real reminder fresh off of this amazing HIGH I have going after the close encounter I have with Christ - that we are not be become inflated and think we know and understand God and put Him in this box labeled "My Christ/God/Holy Spirit... to be used in times of distress or need, otherwise I am good and holy"  We are nothing without HIM in every moment of every day!  We die to self - humbly tell HIM we are unworthy for the great "I AM" to look upon us and help us on our journey!  He looks upon us from the Life-giving Cross and shows us how His being "lifted up" has given us the Blood and Waters of LIFE/LOVE/LIGHT!  "When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will realize that I AM, and that I do nothing on my own, but I say only what the Father taught me.  The one who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, because I always do what is pleasing to him."  Jesus to us in the Gospel - John 8:21-30.  The Gospel read by hundreds of millions today all around the world at mass in every Catholic Church the world over, convents, monasteries, the chapels of the Community of the Lamb - so powerful does it become in this shared meditation, prayer and worship!  The final phrase of the Gospel filled me with HOPE and happiness - rather than saying that because of His Words they tried to kill him - "Because he spoke this way, many came to believe in Him."  Praise HIM!
My rock- My Most Cherished Cross - my husband Patrick!  How he loves LIFE and cherishes it and is always open to new life!  I would like to share the page I have written about this at great length here - http://familysoulstory.blogspot.com/p/my-most-cherished-cross-patrick-gerard.html
Jesus, Your Words to us this day in the Gospel remind us that we are called to weakness and humility and when we think we have it all figured out... we drift away from you and your Truth!  I will always remember when Hallel reminded me after my hip replacement and I felt so useless and weak and down - "Mom, when we are weak is when we turn to Jesus."  Yes!  Lord, I want to be yours always - I long to be weak and small and to die totally to self so that you can live and breath and have all of me as Yours!  I long for the awkwardness of humbly reaching out to others so that they know that I am less than perfect by a long shot, and that I will smile and listen to the pain and suffering in their hearts.  May I be open to the promptings of the Holy Spirit as it directs me down the narrow and hard path to LIFE/LOVE/LIGHT!  Jesus, use me and may I give without counting the cost.  Jesus, I trust in YOU.  Amen and Hallelujah
David out on a beautiful day while mom and dad are treating calves... learning to care for all LIFE on the farm!
Bless-bless, Barbara Luke
"The seed is the Word of God, Christ is the sower; all who come to him will live for ever."  Proclamation before the Gospel today!
A lesson in Trust in animal and a young boy.  I have never seen David stand still for this long!  He is usually in constant motion.
So powerful!!!
God's not dead - Newsboys!
May the Truth be known through our humble sharing of The LIVING Christ and His Bride, The Church - yes, humbly and awkwardly if needed!
I borrowed this from Maria's blog - So cute of the kids with their neck pillows on in anticipation of their trip in a week to Oregon to meet a little cousin and her family!  I love them all, but Patrick is so super cute... I love him and miss him!  And Therese - I got your thank you and you broke my heart with your hope for Michigan!  Know that I am going to pray hard that you can get there too!  Love and prayers always - Grandma
Lastly one I borrowed from Nancy of my sweet little Bernadette!  A smile of spring!
