In the midst of this Tridium filled with fasting, prayer, family, work outside and inside, many amazing Church services/masses/celebrations of Passions... Mary is having her 8th birthday today! We had some time together a few days ago just after the mid-April snow for a birthday photo shoot.
It was easy to find large areas of perfectly white and untouched snow as it had just come down the day before... here she made a huge 8 in the snow to tell the world - "I am amazing 8!"
This is a very important year for Mary as next weekend she will be having her first Communion. She has already had her first reconciliation and now her second time. She shared with me that this was a good thing for her, and hopefully something that she continues to find important throughout her life.
Mom is making the kids a playhouse... she and Little Sister Hallel have discovered that they love woodworking and making things with their hands. The farmer gene has carried over after all...
Mary has adopted a love of animals and also of art and crafts. I think the other day when mom and dad came to school to talk about the farm - it really showed Mary how blessed she is to have her life on the farm and in the country with a big family of brothers and sister.
The two families - Ruth's and Nancy's are off to the Catholic School for a Easter Egg hunt. Then we will be gathering for lunch at Ruth's home to celebrate Mary's birthday together. Today there is no Gospel until the vigil tonight. We attend that as a family from Great-grandma down to 5 month old Luke. It is very beautiful - filled with the LIGHT and water's of Baptism as the world awakens with the coming of the Risen Christ - the bearer of the Truth and of LIFE/LOVE/LIGHT!
There will be a sign on the barn - Happy Birthday Mary!!!
Always in love with those mudpuddles and allowed to appreciate them by those wonderful farm girl rubber boots!
The white snow is pretty but we are tired of it... the warm winds have made it all disappear in the two days since I took these. Right underneath is the green grass we are longing for. Come Spring- that is the one present Mary wishes for - warm spring weather!
Thanks to those rubber boots - first time in the cold creek for the year...
Happy Smile
A heart in the fresh snow and a smiley face too.

Lord, thank you for walking with us through our lives... Thank you for the gift of life and growing in knowledge and love of YOU. Bless Mary in this year of her taking these huge steps in her faith journey. May she never waver from your Path as she follows after You and your Bride, The Church. We await your rising from the dead, O Lord! Jesus, we trust in YOU. Amen
Bless-bless, Barbara Luke
"Ever-living and all-powerful God, your Only Begotten Son descended into the depths of the earth, from which he rose again in glory. Grant your faithful, buried with him in baptism, to share in the Resurrection to eternal life, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen" closing prayer for Morning prayer today
Awaiting his victory over death!!!
We thank you now and forever, O Lord!
