Nancy's family has turned off the TV for lent! This is something we did as a family over the years - it is hard yet leads to some great times of family games and sharing more interpersonally with each other... We would also cover up the TV and put games out on the coffee table. I have no doubt that they pray together as a family each night, because they gather in the kids' bedroom before bed and pray every night whether it is lent - they don't miss a night of family prayer! That is much better than we did with our kids. Lent always was much better for us to remember to pray together. We would share the lives of the saints - this was a favorite of the kids and they had special saints that they would ask for. St Rita and St Maria Goretti were a couple of the kids favorites. It is wonderful to see the Family Lent carried on into the families of our girls!

In Ruth's home, too, they have prayer at night before bed. Now with Lent that will be stepped up, I am sure.
I am still waiting for Maria's pictures of her family lent family practices... This is a going away party with her MCCW friends in El Paso. It is so interesting and encouraging to see how strong the young women are in the ! It makes sense that they would be young, and Maria has found wonderful support, friendships, and grown in her faith along with these and many other women. It is very encouraging to see how strong the Catholic families are in the ! I am awaiting Maria's Lenten sharings, and know without a doubt that they are making this Lent all it can be as a family. Jesus, thank you for the way my kids are carrying forth the Faith in our domestic Church/family! Jesus, we trust in you, and thank you for the gift of the Lenten Season that is a way that we can come closer to YOU and to die to self so that you may live more and more in our families. This is our Lenten prayer that we may raise LIGHTS to carry forth the power and beauty of The Truth that will set us free to find a small slice of heaven here on earth. Bless-bless, Barb
