They are still there today... a sister and her husband are coming to visit with a meal for us on this hot and steamy 4th of July! I thought that they would also appreciate our memorial which reflects our deep feelings of their being with us on this journey of dad being on hospice in my home and sharing our "religious life" of prayer shared throughout the day - Dad a permanent Deacon for 44 years does morning and evening prayer of The Church... our Job and daily work!
Dad was curious about the corn height on the 4th of July as the saying -"Knee high on the 4th of July" rings in our heads. He could not go to the field, so two came to him... one on either side!
Dad was 6 foot and maybe shrunk a few inches with age, but that sure looks like easily a foot over his head - so I am calling it 7 foot on the 4th of July 2020!
He wouldn't pose between them... I think my photo taking is getting to be a bit much.
My brother in law coming this afternoon is 6'4" so I will try to get him to pose for me with my sister. Always fake plans when it comes to pictures for me.
Dappled shade in the corn towering over my head in the field! After these last few years where many corn fields were not even planted due to cold and wet... this is a JOY!
Still in place to share with my sister - how we love and miss our sweet sister, Mary Susan, and now so recently our mother, Nancy! Some comfort knowing they are united in more perfect prayer of love for each one of their many family members - 140+ in ours, plus her husband's large family!
We also remembered that her husband, Gerry's dad, Gerald, is now there and sharing in Mary's heavenly experience - forever in eternal LIFE with Jesus, Mary, the angels and the Saints.
The rocks are from Michigan - a rock shaped like the lower peninsula and a trilobite found by a friend of my sister, Cheryl, and gifted to my mother! A great amazing find for this rock hound!
A display of our love for mom and Mary on this day of St Thomas the Apostle, also the loss I had that same day, whom I named Thomas. The emotions of Loss run very deep!
A positive sign - dad at work at his desk. We take all that we do these days very seriously with some laughter mixed in ,and some short fuses in the day to day sharing the ups and downs in this confined space of the house and the porch.
We call our prayer our "work." Our job is at the center of our days and allows us to forgive and forget the rough patches as we give it to the Lord and ask and give forgiveness.
Watching the fields growing all around us with each new day... the words from the first reading in Amos 9 and Psalm 85 speak so much about the bounty we will be blessed with on our journey of Faith...
Yes, days are coming,
says the LORD,
When the plowman shall overtake the reaper,
and the vintager, him who sows the seed;
The juice of grapes shall drip down the mountains,
and all the hills shall run with it.
I will bring about the restoration of my people Israel;
they shall rebuild and inhabit their ruined cities,
Plant vineyards and drink the wine,
set out gardens and eat the fruits.
I will plant them upon their own ground;
Amos 9 speaks of such bounty and being loved and cared for by our Lord, if only we humbly come to him for forgiveness and healing!
Silo in the clouds on this hot steamy day with the "kitty grass" soft and special... hubby calls them weeds - foxtails!
Yes, the beans are beautiful also.. soon the rows will be filled in and it will look like a green carpet covering the field!
Psalm 85 also speaks to our bountiful farm life!
Kindness and truth shall meet;
justice and peace shall kiss.
Truth shall spring out of the earth,
and justice shall look down from heaven.
R. The Lord speaks of peace to his people.
The LORD himself will give his benefits;
our land shall yield its increase.
Justice shall walk before him,
and salvation, along the way of his steps.
R. The Lord speaks of peace to his people.
Very appropriate also for the 4th of July in this country torn and suffering, but that we love and honor this day!
After 6 years - I added mom painting in the sand dunes, and the other 9 siblings. It feels special and right!
Jesus, how we have been blessed with so many wonderful graces and blessings - some hard and we do not understand the loss of siblings and life in the womb. Your perfect plan is not always ours! We continue down the narrow path carrying/dragging our Most Cherished Cross and keeping our eyes focused on heaven where we will be united some day. May we die to self so that you may live in us and we may be your hands and feet. Bless our country! Jesus, we trust in you. Amen and Hallelujah
"our land shall yield its increase" Psalm 85 read all throughout the world this day in every Catholic church! Thank you, Lord, for being united in your Word and Sacrament of Body and Blood! You certainly are with us and in us! Bless-bless, Barbara
