Due to the virus we were only able to have a graveside service a few day after she died with a open casket in the cemetery. Unusual but these are crazy mixed up times we are in. There is a sense of accomplishment and relief that we managed to have mom's mass and come through it as wonderfully as we could have imagined.
Dad and I wrote the Eulogy, which Dan read as I would have been a puddle of tears as I was this morning as I read the Gospel for today - St Mary Magdalene... John 20
Mary stayed outside the tomb weeping.
And as she wept, she bent over into the tomb
and saw two angels in white sitting there,
one at the head and one at the feet
where the Body of Jesus had been.
And they said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?”
She said to them, “They have taken my Lord,
and I don’t know where they laid him.”
When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus there,
but did not know it was Jesus.
Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?
Whom are you looking for?”
She thought it was the gardener and said to him,
“Sir, if you carried him away,
tell me where you laid him,
and I will take him.”
Jesus said to her, “Mary!”
She turned and said to him in Hebrew,
“Rabbouni,” which means Teacher.
Jesus said to her,
“Stop holding on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father.
But go to my brothers and tell them,
‘I am going to my Father and your Father,
to my God and your God.’”
Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples,
“I have seen the Lord,”
and then reported what he told her.
Due to recurring circumstances, I was a puddle of tears this morning as I read the Gospel to dad. Each time Mary was asked; "Woman why are you weeping?" it was personally to me! So powerful for my Jesus to ask me that and to reassured me that He is in control and I need not be distraught and discouraged and Trust! Indeed... "I have seen the Lord!"
Since Mary Magdalene reported to the Apostles that the Lord was risen indeed... she is called the apostle to the Apostles... the first to announce to the Apostles the words of life! "I have seen the Lord."
Just got word that Mary went to Iowa today with her mom, and bought her first goat - a red one! 3 years old... Mary must be in cloud 9 as she loves her goats and is now the proud owner of her first one!
Psalm 63 is so beautiful in mass today! Every last bit of it! Just as the cows and calves are thirsting - so we are refreshed by you, O Lord!

O God, you are my God whom I seek;
for you my flesh pines and my soul thirsts
like the earth, parched, lifeless and without water.

As a bride this speaks of my beloved and the intimate love we share! It also speaks of my Beloved, Lord and Savior, whom dwells within me - Come Holy Spirit!
Lord, it is wonderful to share my life on the farm with my aging father! He is very interested and appreciative of the great life we have here feeding the world. Thank you for each new day we are given to share farm life and do the work of prayer we are called upon to do with The Church. This day is filled with SO MUCH!!! St Mary Magdalene, amazing readings and Psalm and Gospel filled with so much to give us peace and comfort in the ups and downs of life. Jesus, we trust in you. Amen and Hallelujah
