The Pat and Barb Verly family and their 5 children, in laws and grandkids along with many prayer warriors have been drawn together by John's cancer... sharing daily for 8 months started this blog- Family Soul Story - Our faith, family, farm and now our cancer journey called HEALING have colored and deepened our world. WE continue to share and depend on the support of our prayer warrior community, that has lowered us into the Lord's presence for His healing!
Time on the road - black ice, Emmaus, the Beads and the Word/Jesus and Mary/"...have pity on me."
Baby Birdie Barbara a year ago with The Immaculate heart of Mary filling me with delight at her sweet smile and chubby fingers and brown eyes looking with love and joy at her old grandma namesake. My scarf around her face making it look even sweeter!
Now her sweet cousin, a year younger with her veil/shawl/sweet babushka! Magdalene Rose is now 6 months old and equally precious and her fingers add to it all!!! My prayers are that we can get these two sweet girls together soon over the holidays along with the two newest to join our domestic Church/family. Ruth's little boy this week and Nancy's around Christmas! How I love the groups of cousins that can grow up as best friends united by Faith and Family!
It almost took me 2 weeks to remember to turn over the Calendar to November! Thanks, Bobbi, for this precious keepsake! How I love my corn stalk bales, and Hallel with her nieces and nephews on her home visit summer of 2020! She only comes home every 3-4 years and she was able to spend time with my dad here on the farm - the first time there were together for 12 years!!
Such a special gift it was to have Hallel here with her Deacon grandfather just months before he died here in our farm Monastery!
I am so blessed to share in religious life from time to time... up until his death dad and I shared his prayer life and he loved to teach me and share with me his wisdom. And I can spend time with Hallel and her Community of the Lamb from time to time! I discerned a call to be a nun, but was called to marriage. Yet, Jesus still gives me a taste from time to time. He spoils me!!!What JOY!
After gathering to plan our Emmaus weekend despite the weather and small number - I was blessed with my hour of prayer with 7 Sisters for Fr Denny in the peaceful beautiful Church with Jesus in the tabernacle! My best hours of my week!!! The wind was howling at the huge stain glass windows from the north... Brrr!
Weekends and retreat weekends seem to draw the weather challenges! Our first snow welcomed our Emmaus retreat!
Fall gives way to winter... Traveling to Shetek Bible Camp was slow due to blowing snow and black ice on the roads. Many prayers and gratitude that all arrived safely, and once we were there it just felt like we could relax, enjoy the fire in the fireplace, and feel Jesus pour His love upon us!
Jesus, we love you and feel your loving embrace as we walk your Road to Emmaus! For morning prayer we turned towards the lake view and shared The Rosary together... feeling our Mother's care for our needs and how she is with us as our Mother of heaven and earth! What peace we find when we take her into our Homes as Jesus gave her to us as our Mother at the foot of the Cross!
A giant oak leaf from the ground in front of our wonderful camp! Some daisies picked in the ditch along the road... I recall pulling over in the dip on the way to Sioux Falls by the windmills the day after John discovered that his double vision was due to brain cancer... the daisies called out to me to pick a bouquet to go along with the statue of Mary and family picture for his hospital room! Now 12 years later we see that Jesus was in control and John found his Faith and now wife and children down the road of cancer/finding faith/Healing and the new John!!!
Our family has grown now to 31 with 2 to join us in the next month! John has added wife, Bobbi, and 2 little ones, Jude and Birdie!
John's journey continues!!!
Special time with my wonderful hubby after a weekend apart. He is truly my Most Cherished Cross, and The Holy Spirit speaking through him... has led our entire family to embrace this Truth we are called in the Wisdom of The Church to be open to LIFE and raise LIGHTs for this world of darkness that surrounds us!
3 years ago this was shared by Nancy as she had her hour of Adoration at Lumen Christi Monastery in Kansas City! Her two youngest, Josephine and Dominic with Jesus on the altar in this holy place! She now lives in Delano, MN and will welcome her 6th child - a baby girl around Christmas!
As I shared in my witness on prayer on the retreat... I have learned so much from our Hallel's Community of the Lamb! They chew on the Gospel starting the night before and then carry forth Jesus - Proclaiming the Gospel the Word of God as they go forth begging for their food from the poor! What JOY and Truth are found here!
I took along my daisy with me to pray during my hour and a half with Jesus last night!
I love my rosary beads and each day is filled with getting my prayer in here and there. The 10 decades which my rosary has expanded to now ... is a little here and some there and therefore in many ways it seems to fill my day with prayer! I am just back from an unexpected hour with hubby in town for parts, and my beads were traveling through my fingers and the prayers flowing in and around me! So much peace floods me as I pray as I find the windows of time to find my wonderful rosary beads that connect me to Mary and Jesus!
I love to do my family litany as I put our living including those in the womb - 6 on my side and 3 on Pat's - "Jesus and Mary, I love you, save souls." This night I added those new members of our Emmaus Sisters Family with so much happiness and excitement to lift them up!
A daisy yet to open all the way... I love how daisies last for such a long time! My prayer is that a daisy in the ditch reminds us that Jesus is there as we go down the roads of life, and He is watching out for us and protecting us as we call out - "Jesus, have pity on me." as did the blind man today in the Gospel!
As Jesus approached Jericho a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging, and hearing a crowd going by, he inquired what was happening.
They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.” He shouted, “Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me!” The people walking in front rebuked him, telling him to be silent, but he kept calling out all the more, “Son of David, have pity on me!” Then Jesus stopped and ordered that he be brought to him; and when he came near, Jesus asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” He replied, “Lord, please let me see.” Jesus told him, “Have sight; your faith has saved you.” He immediately received his sight and followed him, giving glory to God. When they saw this, all the people gave praise to God.
Pondering the time that the two had on the road to Emmaus throughout the weekend - traveling on foot as they did then... the hours of sharing. He shared the readings pertaining to Him - ALL of them! Hours of them! Wow! Here he is entering a town of Jericho, and the blind man hears that he is passing him - "Have pity on me... please, let me see." Jesus says; "Have sight your faith has saved you." We were richly blessed on this special retreat weekend as we braved the first storm of the winter, and safely found a peaceful haven to grow in our Faith and our LOVE of Jesus through Mary, and were given "sight" of HIs LIGHT/LIFE/LOVE for us through others and The Sacraments of His Bride, The Church!

Life is to be protected and cherished from conception to natural death! How did it ever get to be to the point that animals are protected and human life is not?
Cute story... Years ago granddaughter, Rose, heard her name at Easter Vigil mass - "I heard my name! Rose Again!" For a long time she would only be called by that name - Rose again! One day she says to her mom, Ruth, "mom where is your name at mass. Oh, I know! "I am not worthy that you should enter under my Ruth!" LOVE!

9 years ago - Therese with her baby brother, Patrick. He is now 9 with both Rose and Bernadette! Another special group of cousins that are growing up together as special close friends. We are in the midst of figuring out how we can come together for a family Christmas! Fake plans abound and HOPE is never lost!
