3 families on the farm for a day - bubble sink, cousins, grandma in the pool, ice cream cones - singing my mom "happy birthday"

The two babies filling both farm sinks after supper last night on the farm.  Tom is 8 months and Maggie is 14 months.  They have another baby to grow up with together in their cousin group - 7 month old Regina.  Nancy and Bill just got back from the Atlantic Ocean vacation and were not able to join us.

We did have 3 of our 5 children and their kids for the day of brunch after sharing mass, filling the pool with the farm water truck, time in the pool on a hot day, and then a big burger on the grill supper followed by more time in the pool, bubble sinks for the babies, and later a camp fire.  We filled our one day with our military family to the brim!

Maggie and Tom watched over by grandma.
These two are both 5 and have Josephine also in their group of cousins.  They picked zucchini for supper and...
Joy showed Evie where to find the eggs - good thing as they both had to carry 3 eggs in their 2 hands = 6 eggs for the day.  Always an egg hunt on the farm for Ruth's free range chickens!
Birdie and Maggie are exactly a year apart and it was fun to find them together at least in the same general area.  Birdie is between groups, so will probably have many cousin friends to choose from.
It was fun to watch Jude and Hector getting to know each other - they are only 3 weeks apart, and George is also a part of their 3 boys in 6 week group!
Grandma close by and liking how they are sharing.
Birdie is between the group of babies and the 3 boys, including her brother Jude, who are just a year older than her.  You can tell that she is used to being with 3 year old boys and although she does not have her own group- she will be able to have those a year older and a year under to play with and grow up with.
Grandpa is a baby magnet and is always comfortable to have babies on his lap and eating off his plate.  Tom watches Maggie eating with grandpa form his bumble seat.
My mom was honored on her birthday in heaven as grandpa served from youngest to oldest ice cream cones - most came back for #2!  We spontaneously sang "Happy Birthday" to my mother.  She was 93 iin heaven yesterday and today 2 years ago we had her funeral mass the day after her birthday!  She died on March 16 and were not able to have her funeral for 4 months due to covid!

Some of the grandkids with mom 2 years ago!

2 years ago at mom's funeral mass 4 months after she passed in a day.  Dad was living here with me for 3 months on hospice here in our farm monastery.  He traveled 4 hours to St Croix Falls, WI for her funeral at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Taylors Falls, MN!

My sweet father looking emotional 2 years ago to be back in his parish Church again.  We spent the night with my brother and wife, and then returned to the farm the following day.  Dad did very well with it all!  Such a blessing to get this for my mother!
7 of the 10 gathered around dad 2 years ago today...

A verse that meant a lot to dad.
I was the lucky one to have dad here with me on the farm for the last 6 months of his life!  He had foretold that if anything ever happened to mom that he would come and live with me.  Thanks to Covid this happened just a month after mom died in a day!  Sharing his religious life with him - 44 years a  permanent Deacon in the Catholic Church was my JOY - morning and evening prayer of The Church and 3p rosary and chaplet on my porch each day.  I was truly the lucky one!

Thanks to my parents, who brought us into The Catholic Church 50 years ago and how we love the Church with no reservations!!!
Family Soul Story - Choose Life!: The amazing story of the 13 becoming Catholic!

Grandpa serving cones is our tradition starting in Michigan and now when we gather with 4 different kinds of ice cream!  Some had all 4 in one cone!
Singing Happy birthday to mom - Great grandma Nancy!
That's a big cone Hector!!
Too cute with a chocolate goatee and a smile!
Young and old - a total of 25 for the day on the farm!!!
Mom and all... this picture was taken 2 weeks before she passed when Pat and I stopped in to see my parents' in their assisted living... it is a treasure to me!
I looked out the window to see this sweet sight of the 2 five year olds, Joy and Evangeline, with Jude and Birdie going out to see the chickens with bare feet after supper.

Grandma and Birdie Barbara sharing golden raspberries - so good!
"more please" she would say when my hand was empty for handfull after handfull.  So fresh and full of goodness fresh off the plant.
The two Barbaras in the pool together on a hot day.  She giggled and smiled!
With Jude, Birdie and Evangline was very helpful pushing Biride around the pool
Joy behind
Patrick and Rose are 9 and 10 and are water bugs!
future Swim team girl!
Bubble head pose - water was a big important part of our family day on the farm!
Corn is tasseling around here, but we need rain badly!  An inch a week is what Pat would love to see in this heat of the summer
Pollinating the ears with the silk now visible.
The water truck to fill the pool and goodbyes this morning to our military family as they head to Major Joseph's family in Wisconsin for a couple weeks.  There are fake plans to them to be here for our 44th wedding anniversary on August 3rd with a big celebration with FAMILY!  Wow!
Hugs for grandpa!

These words from the first reading at mass today - You have been told, O man, what is good,
and what the LORD requires of you:
Only to do the right and to love goodness,
and to walk humbly with your God.  MI 6
A few minutes before they headed out with blessings and prayers for safe travels!  See you in a few weeks!
Their rented truck and our livestock trailer filled for the move - after the County Fair Pat will then take it to Charlottsville, Virginia!
Stopped to pick some wild flowers today...
With my wall of family - prayed for each family on the 5 decades of the rosary as I went in my chapel on wheels to Balaton with Meals on Wheels.  A special time and enjoy visiting with my first lady on my route - Marie, and compare our farm notes - hers 20 years before me!

They are off to Joe's parents this afternoon in Wisconsin.  Lord, be with them and keep them safe.  Jesus, we trust in you.  Amen and Hallelujah

Forgot to get a parting family picture - in 2 weeks pictures will be on my mind!  So what else is new?!  Bless-bless, Barbara and the 53 - 34 with us and 19 in heaven including our parents and sister, Mary, and brother, Lincoln!
Wisdom!
10 years ago in Michigan!  Some fake plans to go this summer with Ruth and kids

"St Camillus de Lellis never celebrated
Holy Mass without first going to Confession,
because he wanted at least "to dust off" his soul.
Once at sundown in a public square in Livorno, before taking leave
of a priest of the same religious order, foreseeing that he would not
have a priest to confess to on the following morning before his Mass,
the Saint paused, took off his hat, made the sign of the Cross
and went to Confession right there in the square to his confrere."

St Camillus de Lellis
Italy ~ 1550-1614
Encouraged to priesthood by St Philip Neri
Founder of Order: Fathers of Good Death
Patron of hospitals, nurses and the sick
Feast Day - July 18

The Camellians took the vow to "devote themselves to material and spiritual care
of the sick and needy". St. Camillus honored the poor and sick
as living images of Christ. His reverence in their presence was as great
as if he were really and truly in the presence of his Lord.

“The poor and the sick are the heart of God.
In serving them,we serve Jesus the Christ.
...We want to assist the sick with the same love
that a mother has for her only sick child."
  Saint Camillus de Lellis

The figure on this crucifix, which is venerated in the Church of Mary Magdalene in Rome, is the one which in 1582 detached its arm and comforted St.Camillus de Lellis with these words "Take Courage, faint-hearted one. Continue the work you have begun. I will be with you because it is my work." Camillus was very discouraged at the time because of opposition to his health care reforms. Our Lord's words were instrumental in the Saint pushing ahead and founding the Order of the Ministers of the Sick.
