Cupboards will be where she is standing, but still from what it was before to now is amazing. Mention of putting on the urethane today... so Tom is with grandma for the day.
Daddy came to help get the huge sander returned. It was the first time I noticed that Tom has dimples on both sides - he sure loves his daddy and dad brought out his adorable dimples!
Checking out a "dimple" in the 90 year old kitchen floor. These two are such a hard working team! They love to transform and are not afraid to do the work that it all takes!
Up stairs still has a ways to go.
Remembering how it was a week ago... it is worth all the hard dirty work!
Time to return the huge sander, and on to the next jobs to make this a beautiful retreat for families in their times of loss and celebration, and any other gathering that comes with LIFE!
Ruth shared that Paul and Ruth went just next store to the Wooden Nickle for some yummy hamburgers for lunch yesterday. "We sat out on the patio on a beautiful day and we were not dressed very nice with all our work on the house." Still very romantic for these two that share a love and vision for making homes beautiful!
A short walk to lunch at a special place for Pat and I over our 44 years of marriage. For a period of years Pat would give me gift certificates to the Wooden Nickle for date nights over the year ahead. Lors of special memories of a little romance in our marriage in the midst of kids, grandkids and farming as well as my job as a hospice nurse.
A special new mural for our farming Community on the wall of the Wooden Nickle. It sure is getting to feel like we are now part of the neighborhood around our beloved Holy Redeemer Catholic Church... Horvath Remembrance Center, The Wooden Nickle and Marshall Decorating right there as neighbors!Hubby here more with the attraction of our sweet 9 1/2 month grandson, Tom.
10p last night Ruth sent me this sneak peak of the floor that the sander was showing us!
My little side kick these days...Tom loves the wheels on the office chairs
Tub time - Tom's first time in our jacuzzi! No jets for him, just some soapy waterBubble beard and big smileGrandma can't stop because you are so sweet and cute!
Squeaky clean
Begin the day with mass for St John Chrysostom today. He was a great sharer of the Gospel - "golden mouth"
Over to greet Mary, the Mother of God, on my way to the YMCA. A sweet friend stopped to ask me to pray for her daughter, Deb, who is getting married this weekend. Her story was so wonderful and romantic and shows how the Lord does answer our most heartfelt yearnings. Deb is 36 and had always yearned to be married, but was resigned to being single. She had never met anyone. She got a new job that she absolutely loved and did not want to lose it by dating a coworker, who kept asking her out. Finally she said "yes" to going out for the day on the 4th of July with him. "She called me after the date and said he was everything she had ever wanted in a man and more!" He is 38 and never been married either! Deb told him that she would only marry a Catholic, and he informed her that he was a lapsed Catholic and was wanting help getting back to church! They are marrying in The Catholic Church and are going to Italy for their honeymoon and getting their marriage blessed by Pope Francis!
I was in tears at the beauty of this story and how the Lord answered her prayers and waiting made it that much more amazing! Talk about praying for your future spouse and trusting in His Plan! Yes, Romance is truly in the air!
The sander and a place where a cupboard had been so now sanded and ready for varnish.Bright and sunny bathroom.
Temporary seating for the workers and Tom
Ruth's projects in the garage.
Snacks for the workers and the kids after school. Bikes for the big new parking lot behind the Wooden Nickle. "It is really nice they just redid the parking lot this summer." Lots of pluses with the new Remembrance Center and all. Quinn told Ruth he will put up a flier for their Airbnb in the Center.
Bobbi's great September Calendar for the family. This is a big birthday month - hubby on the 15th, with grandson, Romeo on the same day. Hallel on the 18th, and Simon on the 20th - our oldest grandson will be 18!
We had a fake plan to go to KC and see our newly arrived nun from France for her birthday this weekend. But it is not to be as they are still adjusting to being in the U.S. and now 7 hours earlier than in France. We will have to settle for a phone call instead.
Hallel shared that she has one wish on her birthday - "to see the sunset. We are surrounded by buildings here in the inner city of KCK, but I found a high place a little ways away where I can see the sunset on my birthday. In Saint Pierre, I love to see the sunset as we sing "Salve Regina" in night prayers each night."
Just the way Hallel's Community of the Lamb sings it! - Salve Regina - Hail Holy Queen!"Jesus, I trust in you."
Dad today in morning prayer in the Prayer of The Church... Isaiah 55:1 Dad read this and was told by the Holy Spirit to come into The Catholic Church 50 years ago with our family - all 13!
I was smiling today at the Psalm from mass - Psalm 100! It is part of each morning prayer and when I prayed with both of my parents - mom would change one word - We are his people , the sheep of his flock. Mom would say "pasture" instead of flock - so I say that to transport my heart to the happy memory of praying together with my parents in their sweet home in St Croix Falls, WI!
Hubby home for lunch on the porch with sweet Tom on a glorious September day. How he gives us JOY and allows us to step back to our day with our little ones - our nest years!
Finger food age is easy and messy! Grandpa's lap is the best!

Such a great Gospel from Luke 7 today - Jesus raises the young man and returns him to his widowed mother! The heartfelt compassion of Jesus - "Do not weep." And when they all witness his power and might - "God has visited his people."
he was moved with pity for her and said to her,
"Do not weep."
He stepped forward and touched the coffin;
at this the bearers halted,
and he said, "Young man, I tell you, arise!"
The dead man sat up and began to speak,
and Jesus gave him to his mother.
Fear seized them all, and they glorified God, exclaiming,
"A great prophet has arisen in our midst,"
and "God has visited his people." Luke 7

Great Borrowed picture!
The Beatles meeting the Queen years ago! Yes, they are English!!!
"The waters have risen and severe storms are upon us,
but we do not fear drowning, for we stand firmly upon a rock.
Let the sea rage, it cannot break the rock. Let the waves rise,
they cannot sink the boat of Jesus." - St John Chrysostom

St John Chrysostom, Archbishop of Constantinople, in a homily on the words of Eucharistic institution at the Last Supper in Matthew 26, speaks most powerfully on the reality of the Body and Blood of Christ. ... Imagine the great bishop standing in the cathedral church of Constantinople before the altar and saying the following:
"How many there are who still say, "I want to see His shape, His image, His clothing, His sandals.' Behold you do see Him, you touch Him, you eat Him! You want to see His clothing. He gives Himself to you, not just to be seen but to be touched, to be eaten, to be received within.
Let all of you be ardent, fervent, enthusiastic. If the Jews stood, shoes on, staff in hand, and eating in haste, how much more vigilant should you be. They were about to go Palestine; you are about to go to heaven." (Homily 82 on the Gospel of Matthew)

The peaceful end to a wonderful day with hubby and Tom. Jesus, we trust in you. Bless-bless, Barbara and the 54 - 34 with us and 20 in heaven - keeping our eyes on heaven forever as we stagger down the narrow path carrying/dragging our Most Cherished Cross and following Jesus with the help of Mary and all the Saints!
