Rochester went wonderfully with all the confirmation we needed that John has been healed and protected throughout this last year! His brain looks "pristine" according to the doctor, who got us there over a year ago! " I would expect to see some signs of the radiation having an effect by a darkening of the brain, but I see nothing!" There is a small spot by the ventricle where the original tumor was that is like a "dibit" in his brain too... "I thought that I might see regrowth there by now, but it is not changing. That is not a bad thing just interesting for you alone." John has a battle scar in his brain!
Today Nancy and her fiance are bringing 8 members of his family down to see the "farm." It has gotten me into a almost graduation reception type cleaning mode, and most of us know how good it is to have that incentive to dig in! I will have to keep this short today, as I was in a half sleep all night thinking about all the things that still need to be done before they arrive just about lunch time!
Back to our castle-back to school adventure... Prince David found his sword, and it was kind of helpful in keeping the "beasts" - dogs away while we enjoyed our "feast" - picnic in the shade!
Mary named her castle - Mary Full of Grace! She was hoping for a room in between the bales, but grandpa had them pushed tightly together. We went and found a special spot for a picnic between the wall of bales and the trees of the grove, and cool to on a hot muggy day.
In conclusion as I need to get going today... I will go from where I left off yesterday in my quote of Dom Boylan... I was called back to the doctor in mid sharing... "and through love he died for us. With Saint Paul, each of us can say: "He loved me and delivered himself for me." (Gal 2:20). The whole plan of our spiritual life is a loving union and intimate partnership with Jesus in which we return him love for love...In giving himself to us, he gives us his Holy Spirit to dwell in our souls, as a permanent friend and source of strength and light - as the soul, one might say, of our soul - so that we might be completely one with himself living in unity of the same Holy Spirit. He has made the whole spiritual life a partnership with himself, making us part of himself, and reduced our share in the work of the partnership to a minimum. In fact, to repeat Fr Clerissac's words: "It is our emptiness and trust that he needs not our plentitude." All he asks is that we put our faith and hope in him, and that we love him with our whole heart, that we renounce our own pretended strength and our foolish plans by humility and abandonment; he will do the rest."
From the second reading today Paul writes to the Thessalonians in 3:16-18 "May the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you." That is my wish and prayer for all of us this day and forward!
Prince Davey's sword didn't work very well... especially when he fed the dogs his cheese crackers... then all was lost! One special thing that happened on the same day as yesterday... when we found ourselves in Rochester once again... was the trip we made to Lourdes last year and we all bathed in the healing waters of Our Lady!
John and I just finished morning prayer... so many words of praise and thanksgiving for his healing! So many reminders of "the care with which his love has surrounded us and protected us." "O Lord, you are our father; we are the clay and you are the potter: we are all the work of your hands." Is 64:7
Jesus we are so encouraged and filled with peace to know that we are all the work of your hands... to know that you will never leave us or forsake us (James 1:5)... it fills us with confidence that we are always protected and guided and filled with your love- Holy Spirit! Use us this day and forward! Our Lady of Lourdes, you are always with us surrounding us with your mother's arms and carrying us to your loving and forgiving son! As John said the day we spent with you in France -"It was good!" Jesus we trust in You! Amen and Halleluia!
