Life revealed like the petals of a rose...

How I love this picture!  The layers of interaction in the life going on is so fun and special... Little 2 1/2 year old David with the dog Roger, Ruth intent upon her care of the calf Oliver and the calm acceptance of the care by Oliver, and Pat having a coversation with 4 year old Mary... It is the epitome of family and happiness and ministering one to the other.  Even the way that they are sitting around the calf looks like the petals of a beautiful rose to me.  There are many times in my years of hospice that I tell the family to sit around their loved one and visit and share even if they are unable to respond.  "Don't tiptoe around them as though you don't want to wake them up.  Allow them to be a part of your sharing of your family and interacting and laughing and visiting... they are there and want to know that you are there and including them."  That would give me great joy at the end of my days... to have my family around me happy and sharing and enjoying the time one with the other!  The best times are those with my family gathered around me and happy to be there!
The "family rose" is here in all its glory and beauty!  The work of God's amazing creation!  Thank you for the warmth and joy that we can find in our families to counteract the not so wonderful times that are there... the thorns come with the rose too.  The fragrance to the nose and the beauty to the eye... lift us past the thorns on the stems... Jesus, we trust in you!  Bless-bless, Barb
