This morning as I sat watching cow TV and doing morning prayers and the readings from mass today... I was struck by the word "champion" used in prayer and then there it was in the first reading from Jeremiah! Why? I have always called two people champions in my life - Saint John Paul II and my husband, Patrick Gerard Joseph Verly! Pope JPII became Pope just 2 months after we married and he promoted LIFE and Family for our entire married life up until April 2, 2005 - 27 years! He filled me with so much JOY and direction in being open to LIFE and raising LIGHTS in my domestic Church/family! I should talk about the man, who truly listened to the Holy Spirit and set our marriage upon the Rock of Truth - my husband and Most Cherished Cross, Pat! On our first date we shared what we wanted in life and they were the same - Faith- Catholic, Family- open to a large family... the number 12 came up, and Farm! When we attended our Engagement weekend we shared with great excitement that we wanted to have a large family, and every other couple shared that they only wanted to have 2, 1, or none duet to the mess the world was in. It even made me question if we were being selfish to want to have a large family. When I asked Pat - he did not hesitate one second - "The world needs LIGHTS." he said to me, and all my fears evaporated into the air!

Yes, having a Champion listening to the Holy Spirit and directing our family and now the families of my children is so amazing and wonderful and a small slice of heaven here on earth. Each of our girls with their children take it very seriously to share with them their Faith in Jesus and His Bride, The Church! Jesus, you are truly my Champion and Savior, and I am forever grateful for the men in my life that are carrying forth into the battle against the lies of this world and the darkness of sin and death. My husband and Saint Pope John Paul II have both listened to the Holy Spirit and directed me on the narrow path to LIFE/LOVE/LIGHT as I carry my Most Cherished Cross and follow after YOU, my Jesus! I am filled with such wonder and awe to know that I am so blessed on this journey. Jesus, we trust in you. May we be instrumental in this - "And many there began to believe in him." John 10 - the Gospel for today. May we lead others to you and when necessary use words. Amen
