In our green coveralls in the barn in 1982 with corn dust on our faces as we helped Pat milk the cows! My sister, Mary, came to help out while I was on bedrest with Nancy's pregnancy, and fell in love with the farm! Two city girls sharing a love for farm life!

A cherished picture of how close we were... Mary died in 1986 of cancer! Today is the anniversary of her death! I was struck as I looked at the readings last night for today... St Thomas! The anniversary of losing my sister and a 14 week pregnancy at the same time, whom I named Thomas. Such powerful and deep emotions all tied into one package of emotion!
After falling in love with the farm... the Lord gave Mary her farmer, Gerry!
And a sweet baby girl, Audrey, who was 20 months when she died.
This day started very early while we heard the rain pouring all night through... the basement started flooding and much work dealing with it postponed my sharing and added to the dimension of flooding my heart and soul with so many feelings this day!
Flags of the battle blowing in the breeze over the porch railing! 5- 10 inches of rain all around us with much flooding in towns around and fields. With heat and humidity building and the feeling that it is just not out of the system... Dear Lord, not another sleepless night of rain and cleaning up!?!
Ruth sewed these beautiful banners for the 4th... the pasture is a lake today! We love our porches!
The full effect of their showplace porch and loving care of the newly remodeled farm house! Ruth always has a project to make it better and better!
Every time the Body and Blood is held up at mass at the time of consecration... I repeat the words of St Thomas when he recognized the risen Christ - "My Lord and My God!" I say it out loud so that I focus on the miracle of my Jesus coming to me in the Eucharist and as a proclamation of the Truth which will set me free of selfishness. May I die to self so that Jesus will live in me and I will become his hands, and feet and heart filled with much love for all my dead... the 7 children, the 4 grandchildren and my sister Mary!!! They keep my eyes on heaven so that we may be united there!
Mary with her sweet newborn, Audrey, in November of 1983!
The Pat and Barb Verly family and their 5 children, in laws and grandkids along with many prayer warriors have been drawn together by John's cancer... sharing daily for 8 months started this blog- Family Soul Story - Our faith, family, farm and now our cancer journey called HEALING have colored and deepened our world. WE continue to share and depend on the support of our prayer warrior community, that has lowered us into the Lord's presence for His healing!
