The Pat and Barb Verly family and their 5 children, in laws and grandkids along with many prayer warriors have been drawn together by John's cancer... sharing daily for 8 months started this blog- Family Soul Story - Our faith, family, farm and now our cancer journey called HEALING have colored and deepened our world. WE continue to share and depend on the support of our prayer warrior community, that has lowered us into the Lord's presence for His healing!

Our wonderful 13 year old granddaughter, Therese, on her Feast day today in Fort Lewis, WA! It was no surprise that Maria named her first child/daughter, Therese, as we all knew how much she was moved by reading Story of a Soul, by St Therese on her way to study in Rome for the year with Catholic Studies at St Thomas.
She was so moved that a year later she entered a cloistered monastery - the Poor Clares in Sauk Rapids, MN! She discerned for 5 months and then returned to her family with some regrets that the Lord had not in fact called her to be a cloistered nun. Now 7 children later she has in fact found her vocation as a army wife, homeschooling mother of 7 - raising LIGHTS in their Catholic Faith!
Visiting Maria at Easter - behind the enclosure which protects them from the world and allows them to do the very important work of PRAYER! What would the world be like without all the prayer of those in convents and monasteries?

2 years ago with her baby brother, Hector, who is now 2 1/2 years old and has a baby sister, Maggie Rose! Her special St Therese statue with her homegrown flowers from her garden!
4 years ago with mom and dad at St Michaels' Church in Stillwater on Respect LIFE Sunday - the first Sunday of October also ST Therese feast! So much has changed in those 4 years! Mom and dad both gone just 7 months apart!
What I wrote 4 years ago...Sitting between my beloved parents at their glorious St. Michael's Church in Stillwater. On this respect life Sunday. Thanks mom and dad for life, and for making me the oldest of 11. Saint Therese, pray for us. Jesus, we trust in you. Bless bless

St Therese today in the Magnificat were so powerful to consider thanking her LOVE for leaving her in the dark without even the shadow of happiness to which she would attach herself to... I would be a whining sack of self pity!
Her final plea to her sister/Mother Superior - "That she may not refuse Jesus one atom of her heart ." That is total LOVE!
The combine in the shop waiting for the weather to dry up. Just back from sharing the chapel on wheels with hubby as he drove about an hour away for some lick tubs for the cows and calves. We take our time together any way we can get it these days. I had my beads to pray as we talked and traveled together.

Daughter-in-law, Bobbi, has her for her Patron Saint and she definitely gave her roses and answers to her 10 years of waiting for John to discover her. He had so much to go through to be worthy of this wonderful girl and how her prayers were so instrumental in his healing and finding Faith through brain cancer and seminary!
Of course, may I die to self and allow you to live in me, My Lord!

LOVE this and I do pray for this! It continues to be such a blessing to share our Faith as a family! Pat was sharing that there were plenty of stressful times on the farm, "but most nights we would play ball as a family and that was a good thing." He shared how his dad would laugh as his two youngest sisters would run the bases when he would hit the ball. "We all loved to play baseball together!"
Our kids have shared that the family times we would have at the archery club growing up were such happy family times. Yes, we work together and on the farm it seems there is always a lot of that each day. But it is important to take time to enjoy and have fun even if it is a campfire in the grove after supper. Laughter is the best medicine!

The first reading today spoke to me about being "flushed with shame." at recognizing the sin that we partake in that hurts our Lord and separates us from his unconditional LOVE and forgiveness. He is there in the confessional with open arms to take us back if only we confess our sins and are remorseful for them. Our shame is our call to come back to Jesus and start afresh. Yes, Lord and Lady!
