Today the Holy Spirit will pour upon our Little David in a powerful way as the Bishop lays his hands upon him and prays over him in the Sacrament of Confirmation! It was striking to read of the Holy Spirit at work today on the Feast of St Joseph in the Gospel from Matthew...
Now this is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about.
When his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph,
but before they lived together,
she was found with child through the Holy Spirit.
Joseph her husband, since he was a righteous man,
yet unwilling to expose her to shame,
decided to divorce her quietly.
Such was his intention when, behold,
the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said,
“Joseph, son of David,
do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home.
For it is through the Holy Spirit
that this child has been conceived in her.
She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus,
because he will save his people from their sins.”
When Joseph awoke,
he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him
and took his wife into his home. Matthew 1
"For it is through the Holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her..." The Holy Spirit is lifechanging and empowering for us in our lives too!

In the Sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized person is"sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit" and is strengthened for service to the Body of Christ. The prophets of the Old Testament foretold that God's Spirit would rest upon the Messiah to sustain his mission.
Therese and her Oma decorated cupcakes for her birthday - too beautiful to eat, but we did anyways!
Since they are homeschooled they did extra work last week so that these two days could be open and about great family time! Truly we are having a wonderful party of visiting and playing games and doing lots of dishes, and visiting, and praying and making wonderful memories. Prayers for safe travels for Bumpa, who should arrive at about 5p!

Oma and I have had shared experiences with our military family with Patrick's traumatic birth 11 years ago, and Maggie's cranial surgery a couple years ago. We are a good team and were sharing how wonderful the MCCW - Military Council of Catholic Women is! They are young and have been so generous with meals and helping out when we had a need!

A memory of great power for me - on March 16,2020... my dad praying the Chaplet of Divine Mercy with my mom just hours before she passed away after falling and breaking her hip and dying in a day. She was ready, but it was a sudden and hard loss for us. All the kids were able to come and be by her side - 4 of the 11, and the rest called to say their goodbyes! "Thanks mom for life and for giving us a loving home."

Such a joyful sunny picture in Kansas! Jesus, we thank you for the wisdom and beauty of your amazing Church. Bless David this day as you come to dwell more closely with him.
