One minute there are two two year olds washing the patio door with animals on both sides of the glass...
Then the next thing I know there is a two year old in a snow bank with no jacket of mittens... Grandma will save you, David! Grandma goes through the snow... falls in and loses her shoe! First time experience - barefoot in the snow to grab Davey's hand and pull him out of the snowbank! If the rest of the pictures look a bit frosty around the edges - I had to dive in with my camera and got the lens in the snow... It seems that I always have to sacrifice my ever present camera to save little Dave from his messes!
His mom was calling to him from over the fence, and the kids were looking at the big loud cow and not the cute soft little calf... Small Dave was out in the barn for the first time, and found it all quite stunning and different to the point that he just stood and stared in the direction of the big cows over the fence. He wasn't scared, but just totally absorbed by the new BIG experience!
Now the two Daves noticed the baby calf, and he noticed them too! It was a cute and special time out in the barn, and the one time that they were all standing still...A group shot with varied emotions... Bigger Dave is not crying because of the calf, but because he wanted to go on the tractor with grandpa and it was Therese's turn...
Still not perfect, but sometimes the different things that are going on with this many kids plus a small animal and two adults... kind of nuts and crazy and funny and silly and just plain mayham!
Little Dave is starting to have some fun and not be so overwhelmed by the noises and sights... an openning in the headgate... I think I will walk through it and see what is on the other side...
Mary goes out to see her Snowball... She is still Mary's favorite especially after the little calf kicked Mary in the leg when she was trying to get him to move across the barn..."He kicked me grandma... it doesn't hurt, but why did it kick me?"
Mary just standing in the feed with all the heifers eating all around her... "I like to stay here with Snowball, grandma!" Thank you, Lord for a beautiful spring day and for the little ones enjoying the farm! I am reminded of the wonderful life we are blessed with here with the ongoing life of new little ones being born now to our cows. Life is a gift and sharing the wonder of the little ones - one with the other - calf and kids! That is a fun as it gets... sometimes they kick and hurt feelings more than actual owies on the leg... Not to take it too personally when you are dealing with creatures... especially little calves whose mothers are mooing to them from over the fence! Jesus, we trust in you! Amen and Halleluia!"But who do you say that I am?" Peter said to him in reply,"You are the Christ." Mark 8: 27-33 The Gospel for today!
