New Bertha and Snowflake

The snow continued to come down as we took an adventure out to the barn... 2 new calves for the kids to get a lesson on how they nursed on their mother's and were fed in the womb through the umbilical cord - one had it still attached to its' navel... So much to learn on the farm!
Mary was sad to hear that Bertha was gone... It took her about 15 minutes to name another black cow the new Bertha and her calf, Snowflake... as they both looked at Mary and Therese through the fence covered with the ever falling snow...
Snowflake is good to her name!
Bertha and Snowflake, and Mary and Therese got to share some time together.  I am sure that Bertha will be the name of many black cows in the herd interchangeably - out of our 120 cows - about 100 of them are all black!  We will not be short of Berthas!
Therese thought that her new friend,Snowflake, was super cute and really looked cold out there covered in snow... "Can she come in the barn, grandma?"  As we left to go to the house to warm up some cold kids... the gate was opened so that Snowflake and her mom... the first of many Berthas to come... could come into the dry barn!  Jesus, we trust in you.  Bless-bless, Barb
