I am feeling so many feelings today and the overriding feeling is nostalgic... as soon as I see June 10th I recall that this was the day that started my entire life on the farm - attending Margie Rose's wedding here in Marshall on this day 37 years ago! Pat and I met there and were married a year later.
My Matron of honor and the reason for my life of Faith/Family/Farm with Patrick Verly!
I am feeling so much pulling at me today and I need to keep this short. I have gushed over this happening in my life over and over and it is spelled out quite completely in this page of my blog - http://familysoulstory.blogspot.com/p/my-most-cherished-cross-patrick-gerard.html So I will refrain here today. I am so excited at the words of Pope Benedict about the 10 Commandments that we just read - The Ten Commandments call us to preserve and to promote the sanctity of the family, in which the personal and reciprocal, faithful and definitive "Yes" of man and woman makes room for the future, for the authentic humanity of each, and makes them open, at the same time, to the gift of new life. To witness that the family continues to be the essential cell of society and the basic environment in which human virtues are learned and practiced is a precious service offered in the construction of a world with a more human face.
It was windy this Easter Sunday in Colman, SD where my dad was working as a permanent deacon in 1998!
Jesus, you reminded us in the Gospel today that we are to follow your 10 Commandments in our day to day life... we are to uphold them in our homes/ domestic Church. They call us to the Truth in this world in our marriages of one man and one woman and being open to the sanctity of LIFE from conception to natural death. They call us to be open to LIFE and value each person no matter what! They call us to live moral and ethical lives in this world of gray - to see the black and the white in this world! Jesus, we trust in you. Amen and Hallelujah
With our two boys buried at the cemetery - William and Robert...
Maria crowing Mary in 3rd grade - Mary, Joseph and Jesus are our model of the Holy Family - may we take Mary into our homes and gain her assistance in all that comes with LIFE/LOVE/LIFE/the Cross.
Easter 1989!
All together - just had to add Hallel!
I need a reminder - how about you?
From Maria's blog today - promoting the virtues in her family by homeschooling the arts!
"This is our "study table". The goal is to always be in the midst of learning about a virtue, a great poet, a great author, a great musician, and a great artist. We are currently learning about Self-Discipline (virtue), Robert Service (poet), O. Henry (author of short stories), Palestrina (composer), and Giotto (artist).
Yes - I know the image of the Trinity in the middle is not a Giotto - it was the week prior to Trinity Sunday, so that is why that image was on the table.
Right now this all looks pretty and exciting - and with a little bit of determination and planning, it will stick!
I sure hope so, because we are really enjoying it.
Love, Us. "
A great one of Nancy's 3 from her blog post today which all should take the time to read! http://www.dosmallthingswithlove.com/2015/06/3-reasons-why-we-announce-our-pregnancy-right-away.html
St Rita... I turn to you this day filled with feelings of being down and upset with some things in my life. Amen
